Gas Out May 15 backfires

Dateline: Los Angeles, CA. May 15, 2007.

In response to all the Internet hype regarding the proposed boycott from the purchase of gasoline on May 15, 2007, all gasoline service stations in Los Angeles County have closed their doors for this day.

Service station owner, Ralph Standard, stated, "we decided that if millions of people were going to boycott us for the day in order to force the major oil companies to lower their costs for gas, we would save them the trouble, and in the process, save ourselves a few dollars by closing for the day. I mean, why should I stay open and pay my employees if no one will be here anyway?"

Service station attendant, Billy Boyle, stated, "thanks a lot mother fuckers. Like I am getting paid enough to take another day off work with no pay."

Service stations are expected to re-open tomorrow, with a $.10 raise in prices across the board.

That's what happens when a bunch of web surfers with no education, get a bunch of other web surfers with no education together and come up with a "Gilligans's Island" type plan in an attempt to affect World Economics.
Geez!

Not sure where you live, but it is May 15 in the USA

TubeTitans_SusieQ 05-15-2007 01:43 PM

that sucks...SOB's

Shoehorn! 05-15-2007 01:45 PM

I always laugh when idiots post that shit. They are clearly too stupid to realize that not buying gas for one day is going to have no impact whatsoever on the price of gas. Oil is used in the production of countless items we use everyday, plastics, metals, fabrics, etc., not to mention the millions of trucks around the world that are constantly shipping food, cars, clothes, medical supplies, packages, everything. And what isn't being shipped by truck is being shipped by plane or ship.

So yeah, lets all boycott buying gas for one day, that'll show those oil companies whos boss. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Basic economics should be a required high school course. Not that it would do much good...

They boycotted the boycott, pretty smart. Don't fuck with the man, the man will fuck you.

Then why do you think the gas out was yesterday?

EZRhino 05-15-2007 02:20 PM

The May 15th gas out is about the biggest waste of time.

Fake ass news...

will76 05-15-2007 02:49 PM

A lot of people commented on how stupid this boycott is but no one posted (or realized) the extent on how stupid and worthless this idea really is.

I posted the following in my blog last week:

Only morons will be boycotting gas on May 15th. Yes if you think boycotting gas is going to cost the oil companies billions you are an idiot. If I get one more of these emails I am going to start shooting people. How can so many of you be so dumb. Lets step back into reality for a few minutes and really look at this.

The email says ” Boycott gas, average cost to fill up is $30 - $50 If everyone doesn’t pump gas on May 15th we will cost the oil companies 3 Billion dollars”.

What you morons fail to understand is that the only thing you people will accomplish is making yourselves look stupid. So you wont fill up on May 15th, so that means you will top off the tank on May 14th, or wait till the 16th to fill up, right? Surely you wont be staying home from work or school that day. You are not boycotting driving your car, are you ?

Think about it. You are not driving any less, ie. BURNING GAS. So how are you causing them to lose 3 Billion dollars if you burning the same amount of Gas???? So who cares if you fill up on May 14th, May 15th , or May 16th, at the end of the week you spent the same on gas and they made the same amount of profit.

Now if you really want to hit them in the pocket book, do a boycott driving day. That will actually cost them money, they can’t get that day back. But simply burning the same amount of gas and filling up on a different day costs them NOTHING,ZERO!

Now stop reading (and sending) stupid ass chain emails and if you want to do something about this shit, drive less.

The Adult Broker 05-15-2007 02:51 PM

I just thought that if there was a gas out on the 15th, everyone will fill up on the 14th so places would make their money anyway, just on a different day.

I am buying a bicycle. :)

They wouldn't see a minus 3 billion blip on that day anyway, as the calculation in the original form letter is flawed: it assumes that every vehicle will have an empty tank on that day.......

I know the USA likes gas guzzlers but surely you can go a few days between station visits. :1orglaugh

bdld 05-15-2007 04:03 PM

i'll be sure and fill up my tank today, these things never work.

EBORG9 05-15-2007 04:04 PM

People just don't understand the sheer magnitude of the oil companies.
So a few U.S drivers may cost them a little money for 1 day. HA! $3 Billion.
They supply the whole fucking world! They are the only store on the Planet, and they have been making Trillions a week for like 45 years!
What the fuck is a few billion going to show them.
They won't even get around to counting that to notice it until next year.

Besides that...the gas that is at the gas station , has already been paid for by the station owner. That shit was sold as crude, shipped and refined, like months ago.
Prince Ali Haji Shiek has already been paid.
They act like there is a hose from the pumps direct to the wells in the Middle East.
Stupid viral housewife emails.

The petroleum industry just laughs..It has to be sanctioned by the government before they will take it seriously.where else are you going to get gas? Buy a hybrid if you want to make an impact

Buying a hybrid makes little impact. To make an impact you have to carpool whenever possible, use public transportation whenever possible, and most importantly, walk/use a bicycle whenever possible.

LilBro 05-15-2007 08:25 PM

people need to stop buying oversized SUVs that get 8mpg....i laugh everytime i am next to 20yr old kid driving a GMC Yukon Denali XL....alone. I understand if you have 4 kids i never see more than 1 or 2 people in these gas guzzlers...we will never get off our addiction of driving but we can drive smarter gas friendlier cars that average more than 10mpg. Conservation will be key to screwing the big oil companies IMO
