At this point, it looks like the vote will be to decline .XXX, and further, to decline it PERIOD, don't come back. ICANN doesn't appear to be interested in getting into content regulation, and they are not wanting to try to corral porn from every other TLD onto this one. They see the potential administrative headaches, and they are running for the hills.

This Peter dude is really not with it. He doesn't seem to have a clue about the reality of the adult industry online, nor the true size of it. 76,000 is a very small number against the millions of domains currently in use for adult entertainment.

Simple example: Topless material is legal in the UK when a girl is 16, but not in the US. Who's set of rules would be used to detemine what is "responsible"? Would the UK print media be shunned from the internet because they have models under the age of 18 appearing topless on their sites?

I see great potential for a real .XXX TLD that is nothing more than an open registry option.

A huge thank you to A1R3K for posting the link to the live vote webcast. It was fascinating to watch and I honestly was holding my breath on that one.

I think we should post a big thank you to the ICANN board for recognizing, among other things, the huge fact that, on a worldwide basis, the adult community did not support this tld.
