    Google closes adsense account because of global warming

    A friend of mine ran a blog that had news and information that discredited global warming. Within weeks after it had started to become popular by being featured on Digg and other social sites Google canned his adsense account with NO email notice.

    Google owed him a mere $200 but because one of their employees political views they canned the account.

          Reminds me of alexchiu.com, the crazy guy who thinks google banned (deindexed not adsense) him because the powers that be don't want people to know about his immortality device. He forgets to mention the shit load of hidden text he has on the same website Someone please buy that guy SEO for Dummies.

                                      But why would the adsense account be blocked on that site? Could be:

                                      a) Invalid Clicks - click attack by someone who believes in global warming and hates your friend for saying otherwise.

                                      b) Chronically low quality traffic, in which case google would just claim Invalid clicks.

                                      *shrug* who knows, all i know is the ad-networks can do what ever they like and claim click-fraud. I lost $5000 over that bullshit.

                                                              Well, the cached copies are no help (apparently this happened before March 8th), and google shows zero backlinks, so that doesn't help either. There is potential for violation on things like "ads too closely match the site (color and font)" or "too many ad units per page" if he was trying to spike posts for redistribution.

                                                              Interestingly, according to Alexa, 100% of the traffic is from the US. That is (especially based on the amount of traffic reported) an almost impossible stat. There may be an issue where the traffic sources twigged off google's tracking system.

                                                                  Before I believe humans are causing it, I want to see records of the last 500,000 years of weather data to show that we are beyond a reasonable doubt causing warming that would not be happening otherwise.

                                                                      That blog looks like every other blog out there, Google gives you the tools to colorize your ads to match your site so I doubt it has to do with that. Also the 100% english from Alexa is funny, although you claim thats impossible it actually isnt I frequently send non-US traffic elsewhere on some of my more porfitable blogs. Non-US traffic is shit anyways.

                                                                                      I can understand the need some have to embrace flawed and slanted data about things like abortion or other issues. But I fail to understand what the impact is on Joe Citizen that causes such an outrage about environmental laws. How does it affect YOU if a bunch of big rich corporations have to pay to clean up their operations. Is it going to tank the economy? Because it hasn't over the last few decades while the EPA enforced various other regulations.

                                                                                      For example, new coal burning power plants built by a certain contractor (can't recall the name) are equipped to run at almost zero negative emissions due to reclamation devices that process CO2 and other coal waste. However it's not yet required by law that companies use this technology. The plants have all been retrofitted with it anyhow 'in case'. So what is the cost to big business there? Next to nothing, it's a few thousand dollars per unit to retrofit. Just like the cost of adding exhaust recycling units to city busses was around $100 per unit, but it wasn't done across the country due to failure to enact laws to require it.

                                                                                      So who loses here? The argument that the poor Africans burning fires in their huts are the ones suffering from alternative energy legislation is total BS. Those countries can't provide basic services to their populations but CO2 from fires is a big threat to their famine-stricken, disease-ridden existences?

                                                                                      So I ask again, what is it about environmental protection (saving plants and wlidlife) that you find so objectionable? What is it about having big billion-dollar corporations pay to make your cars cleaner or your power cleaner that you find such a violation of your morals? You'd rather breathe in the smog in Los Angeles with impunity?

                                                                                      Whether global warming is caused by cars and cows, or Mother Nature, the bottom line is that humans DO contribute to it. Arguing about who got the math wrong on the CO2 equation doesn't change the fact that we are undeniably polluting the atmosphere. Even if the main benefit we get from changing our lifestyles is that we breathe cleaner air and our children end up with less birth defects, who cares?

                                                                                      I've never understood why conservation was such a hot-button issue for some people. If you are against it, essentially you are saying 'I don't care if animals die, I don't care if the smog cloud over my city is so bad people use masks on the street, because I would rather have XYZ than clean air and a planet with ecological diversity!'

                                                                                      I just can't figure out what XYZ is, and how these proposed changes affect YOU personally.

                                                                                      If an anti-warning anti-environment person can answer this, it will set my mind at ease.

                                                                                                                      Funny fact: Most countries started recording the weather in 1820-1840... between 20 and 40 years after the last small ice age started... so at the coldest moment int he last 1000 years... so it's no wonder temperatures appear to be rising to people that don't look at the bigger picture.

                                                                                                                                                      My theory is this: The global warming thing is just part of the earth's natural cycle of things. At this point, natural is attempting to drop more water to grow more green plants to clean the environment up, as would be a normal part of the checks and balances that are built into the system.

                                                                                                                                                      The problem arises only because mankind aggressively controls the amounts of greenspaces in many areas, and as a result, nature's efforts are entirely successful. As a result, things will continue to happen until nature has enough of it's natural defences as work, and things balance out.

                                                                                                                                                      More water = more green plants growing = more conversion of CO2...

Do you disagree that this is a good course of action? If so, why?

                                                                                                                                                                      It's easy to poke holes in the theories/plans of others and offer no solution. So far that's all I am seeing here.

                                                                                                                                                                      It harkens back to the debate over the Iraq war. The US Democrats (who happen to reside in about the only country that still has to DEBATE whether Iraq is a complete disaster) poked all sorts of holes in the Bush administration's plan for Iraq. The US Repubs kept asking them 'well what is YOUR plan?' and implying that the Democrats were only seeking political gain and offered no real solution.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Because it costs money to our corporations who pass that cost on to consumers. Also other countries like China and India will not be handicapped by these reductions and will become stronger, which makes the United States weaker.

                                                                                                                                                                                      What "PLAN" are you thinking we need here? We already have plenty of environmental rules that make sense, many of us recycle, there are many conservation programs across the United States. Why do you think the status quo isnt good enough?

                                                                                                                                                                                      HUMANS are not causing global warming so why should we try to prevent what we arent causing?
