The Secret :::

Anybody seen that DVD called "The Secret"? I saw Oprah discussing it on her TV show this past week. Supposed to be some life-altering shit in that DVD.

Mr.Nice Guy 02-10-2007 02:17 PM

yeah I've heard of it, whenever I call my mom she *just* watched it again.. never seen it yet though I don't buy into this cult like propoganda

Hmm... any links? I never heard of it, but if it doesn't come with mushrooms or LSD; I don't think it can do that much to anyone. :winkwink:

It's something like the Law of Attraction. That's it.

I liked all the quantum mechanics stuff in "What the *Bleep* Do We Know?"

Some of the information might have been valid (science), but it tries to mix science with spirituality. Like with the water cells/crystals... that part is such garbage. Putting a word on a bottle isn't going to make water cells/crystals turn colors... that alone makes the entire movie bogus...

DeanCapture 02-10-2007 02:37 PM

Hey, if it helps people get through the day and makes their lives easier to handle - can't be that bad....no?

People are complicated creatures - nothing works for everybody :)

I'm glad to see the positive energy you are putting out into the universe! It will be repaid in time by the universe responding to that positivity! :upsidedow

You can watch some Larry King interviews with the creators of it, it is about 'God' or a 'spiritual awareness'. "Surrender to the universe", ect. They say it is supported by science, but it isn't completely.

It is good to maybe 'know' and 'think about', but I wouldn't take it as fact and live my life around this idea. (For real philosophers, for regular people it might seem OK to live by, but real philosophers who think about everything - isn't anything new.)

haha, thats basically the gist of the entire DVD right there, save yourself 30 bucks.

Tat2Jr 02-10-2007 02:48 PM

FUCK! I thought for sure you were going to point out the secret button on my camera that would make my photos look like yours! ;)

Haha pretty much...

Also, now that I watch this Larry King interview with the creators; they seem pretty nutty. The one guy says he was selling pot in college and then had a 'spiritual awareness' and turned his life over to God and started crying.
(He was probably ripped.)

He isn't even enlightened enough to realize that selling pot isn't really malum in se, it is just wrong by the law. He probably seen it as "evil", yet this guy is writing books on wisdom?

I think the most interesting thing that deals with "spirituality" is the DMT videos with Terrance McKenna. At least with that, you had a test of many people who saw the same thing pretty much, "machine elves" "dome" or w/e, I don't believe it or anything, but that is the most "valid" spiritual thing in my opinion.

Here is a site from one of the guys behind "the Secret" movie :

http://www.attractanewcar.com/

Personally, I think it's all hocus bocus, "attract a new car" -- Why not attract a new wife??

I'm writing a book about another topic that is far more better than this bogus "attraction law" that tells you nothing. It's a thing you can actually put words in to and touch on... not just spritual garbage.

:2 cents: :)

DMT definitely induces those sorts of visions. It's one of the two most hardcore drugs you can do. Total ego loss and VERY mentally visual.

Yeah, the tests were funded by the US Government, and a lot of the 900(ish) tested had almost the same experiences. It is pretty weird that people see the same thing and have the same feeling. It may be the drug, but if people are always seeing other beings on DMT... where are these beings in our heads when not on DMT? Interesting.

It's not that odd that people taking the same substance would experience the same or similar things. As with any drug, most people have similar experiences, especially in a sample group of 900 or so. Whether you believe those 'beings' are still there or exist when you're off the drug is another story. McKenna was kind of nutty, imo.

Why don't you buy his program and see if you take delivery of a new car? If you do, sign up for their affiliate program and I'll sign up under you :winkwink:

I wonder if they have a money-back guarentee.

angelsofporn 02-10-2007 03:14 PM

Dont buy that garbage..
Same group of people get together and hype some ridiculous theory(and the subseqent merchandise), make a couple hundred million and you are stuck with some book about wishing for things you want..instead of working for them. What makes this marketing method so popular is that people assume that since it's everywhere all of a sudden that it must have organically come to that popularity by word of mouth because it really works. But it's the just same group of folks that control the media that blitz it for 6 months or so to extract every penny you have. Stay tuned folks..the next big thing will be soon..buy..buy

Yeah, McKenna was probably mentally ill... He probably could've gotten disability for legal insanity. But, when comparing "spiritual" things, I personally think DMT is the most interesting and "believable".

There is no secret button for that...believe me, I've searched for it for almost 20 years. The secret to being good at anything is practice, patience, focus and experience. And of course....never giving up :thumbsup

Try some salvia. People also see beings on that, including some sort of "goddess".

EscortBiz 02-10-2007 03:28 PM

oprah is getting to that age where women get excited by nice colors and by books and dvd's that tell you how age means nothing and life starts at age 50 and overweight has a positive to it

gimme a break, you either are cut out to be a success or not, a loser stays a loser end of story

I'm with you on this one. It's just sad that people fall for these kind of bogus thingies.

If it's in the news, it must be true!

My friend had some last year, but I had a bad trip on shrooms like 2 months before that, so I didn't try it... he said it was intense... and it was like $50 a little bag too from the local 'pot' shop..

SIK 02-10-2007 03:31 PM

I watched it "by accident" (the secret documentary), if you ask me, it helps only weak minded and depressed people, other then that its common sense of positive thinking, nothing else.

I've seen people who were once losers pick themselves up and make a life change for the better. I've also seen people who were living high on the hog at one minute and living in a sewer the next. I don't think a loser is always a loser and I don't think a winner is always a winner. Sometimes winners become losers and sometimes losers become winners....life is crazy like that :thumbsup

people win lotto too you know but its rare, how many books have been published that had SOLID information about them about:

Making money
Kicking bad habits
Relationship advice
Loosing weight

Billions of dollars have been made selling books in the above topics, how many people on planet earth have financial freedom? How many in shape people do you know that where not in shape before?

I rest my case, you either are born with it or your not books will chance maybe 0000.1%

keep it real life is short no time for Politically correct speeches
