Well, we are doing are best - we are adding Cantonese (66m speakers) this week to capture traffic from Hong Kong, Macoa and southern China bringing the total to 37 languages.

Bear in mind, when surfer calls to get password, he is greeting in his own native language also...

jayeff 07-16-2006 02:03 PM

Geo targetting is surely a step in the right direction. The limitation is that although surfers can read the banners, they are still only being offered tours and sites that are (usually badly) designed primarily for US surfers.

It's not just the presentation and style which are still basically one-size-fits-all. I read/heard somewhere once that for example, German surfers prefer live teens, French surfers are big on ebony sites, etc. I have no idea if those particular claims are true, but after several years experimenting, I finally figured out what I could sell to Japanese surfers and the sites are entirely different from those I normally make money with.

Since the days of dialers, the operators have been in a position to extrapolate quite a lot of information from their data. I'm surprised they don't do a lot more to capitalize on national differences.

emjay 07-16-2006 02:11 PM

It still amazes me how US-centric many webmasters are. Hell, a simple Spanish tour will help do wonders in converting that vast hispanic market sitting right on your doorstep.

Given the underlying nature of the product we sell ('a blowjob is a blowjob, in every language'), AWM should start going global.

Our online cousins, the casinos, understood this years ago...

CuriousCash has been dealing with the guys at Password By Phone for a while, and have recently implemented PbP throughout all of the sites within CuriousCash. We use them as a processor and also as our main Geo Targetting Processor. This has worked great for us as we are now seeing joins from countries we just did not convert before.

With the recent implementation into MPA3 we can now also give credit to all of our affiliates for sales processed through Password By Phone which is a major bonus to us.

Keep in mind that despite Spanish being spoken all over the world, you will have regionalisms to deal with, like in Spain they call a cock "polla", in Mexico "verga", in Cuba "pinga".

Bdiddy 07-16-2006 05:21 PM

are those banners from the 90's?

Mmmm... I'd like to know how long the people behind passwordbyphone have been in the audiotext industry, who the corp officers are and what companies they have been associated with in the past.

Excuse the "due diligence" bullshit - it's boring I know, but there is good reason.

We were the second company to be granted IPRS numbers by Hong Kong Telecom way back in 1994. Co-owners are Swiss and our money man comes from, rather convieniently, Liechtenstein which coincidently is where the majority of our international traffic now terminates.

Think it may be a small world Marc :winkwink:

Damn.. trying to remember names now... If you were second out of Hong Kong - can you remember who was first? (Or hell.. it may be your corp for all I can remember). Used to deal with OK guys from a UK company - they had a legal background, but were in audiotext and were among the first to use HK. Sheesh.... it's on the tip on my tongue, but damned if I can remember.

Andrew Wilson? As for the due dillegence, don't blame you - especially in this Biz! Many think we are ex-Goodthinxxx who went belly up. Not so!

Vitasoy 07-17-2006 12:53 AM

Good stuff, wish more sponsors would do this

Na... Been trying to remember... on the tip of my tongue :winkwink:

They were actually OK people, but agree, audiotext is riddled with some sad stories :)

Hell.. I'll remember the names after a coffee and hopefully post it :1orglaugh

BTW - Nice program you have there :thumbsup
