I wonder if a dope cartel really did buy his presidency in FL...

TheFLY 06-06-2002 07:17 AM

Pretty wild stuff here ;p

http://www.skolnicksreport.com/pgate.html

"Racicot together with operatives linked to Florida Senior FBI Agent Terry Nelson, jointly with Hugh Rodham, reportedly arranged to convey financial benefits and emoluments to top DEMOCRAT officials in southern Florida- --called by some straight out bribes---to arrange for the DEMOCRATS to arbitrarily stop the recount of ballots. This done to prevent Albert Gore, Jr., from winning Florida's essential Electoral College vote and hence the U.S. Presidency, after Gore had already won the national popular vote by a plurality of more than six hundred thousand votes. The funds for the financial benefits, or bribes, were made available through Marc Rich and his cronies in the Russian mafiya which have joined forces with the Colombian dope cartels."

Hey Reagen was suffering with Alzheimer's before his re-election campaign!

Proof that intelligence means NOTHING!

Tipsy 06-06-2002 02:05 PM

From a non-US point of view he tends to be seen as a scary meglomaniac by most.

Beastiepoo 06-06-2002 03:38 PM

To give the USA voters their due, they did have to pick between Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck. I suppose it was a matter of choosing the least of 2 evils.

Ah but he had THE hat. When a man wears a hat like that you either gotta respect him of lock him up in a nice cushioned cell. Seems he got the respect.

Jesus fucking Christ... the FIRST 1st I repeat the FIRST 1st
person I have seen in a loooooooong time that understands
what's on that piece of paper in Washington.... And I hope know why it's set up this way..... And do you know it
work exactly like the founding father had in mind EXACTLY...

I'll give you 10 to 1 odds not 3 more people know why it's set up this way. Want to bet.???

My hat is off to you young man...:thumbsup

Beastiepoo 06-06-2002 03:58 PM

Ah, but if you start talking about what the founding fathers meant when they laid out the bill of rights then you must start looking at all of it.

For example, in their day the right to bear arms made sense. There were native americans fighting to get their land back and other volitiles like an abundance of wild animals. I'm sure they did not mean that joe schmo from downtown Sacramento needs an AK47 to 'go hunting' at the weekend. I'm exaggerating here but it is only an example.

Most of the laws set out by the founding fathers have been distorted with passage of time and political agendas over the years.

:2 cents:

The question had nothing to do with your rights to bare arms.
but yes joe schmo should be able to buy an AK47.

the question was..
popular vote dont mean shit!

Electoral College elects the Pres.
And there is a reason why.... and it worked EXACTLY the foundering father hope it would.. I do believe they were some pretty smart old turds.

So answer the question

Why does the...

popular vote dont mean shit!

Electoral College is who elects the Pres.

Perhaps I should have quoted the post before yours so that those of us who are a bit slow wouldn't get lost in the thread. Yes, what I said had little to do with the ACTUAL Electoral College and how it works. What I was responding to was the fact that the Electoral College was intended to do something COMPLETELY different when it was begun than it does now. Just another example how the good ideas of the founding fathers of the USA have been perverted down through over 2 centuries of politics.

Tipsy 06-06-2002 04:19 PM

This thread is getting pooee now as it's going all serious. Can't we go back to talking about old rock stars who are falling to bits???

Ok am going to repeat this one more time.
The Electoral College was setup for a reason...
And it worked EXACTLY the way it was set up to work.
Now the question ONE more time

popular votes do not mean shit!

Electoral College electes the Pres.
"WHY" there is a reason...

---------------------------------------------
What I was responding to was the fact that the Electoral College was intended to do something COMPLETELY different when it was begun than it does now
----------------------------------------------
NO you are wrong. Iwas set to do EXACTLY what it did,,,, Nothing more nothing less...

----------------------------------------------
Just another example how the good ideas of the founding fathers of the USA have been perverted down through over 2 centuries of politics.
------------------------------------------------
Do you even live in the United States Of America?

Just answer the question

It's probably worth noting that in this particular election, the Supreme Court ultimately got to decide who received Florida's 25 electoral college votes. Popular votes do matter on a state by state basis, as the popular vote for a state determines which candidate gets that state's electoral college votes. True, it's not binding in all states, but it is extremely rare for the electoral college to vote for the candidate who lost the popular vote in their state.

Before people start bitching about it, I'm not suggesting that Gore got "robbed" by the Supreme Court, or that the election was unfair, or anything like that. I'm just pointing out that the elctoral college is not entirely separate from the popular vote, at least on a state by state basis.

I'm not entirely sure it was intentional wordplay, but "the foundering fathers" is a great pun....
