Just found out that I had a daughter...she's 13!

If you've wondered where I've been well for the past couple months my life has been all over the place. I was contacted by an old flame from high school asking me to take a DNA test. She goes on to tell me that I've had a daughter all these years that I've never known about.

I took the DNA test and it was 99.99999% sure that I was the father. If you've met me then you'll know that she looks just like me! When I saw the pictures the mother sent me before the test I was 100% sure she was mine. She lives in Dallas and I flew out a week ago to meet her and it was the most incredible feeling ever! She didn't quite open up to me but she did call me dad and we shared some moments. It's tough because I live in Florida and she lives in Dallas.

The mother seems like she has her shit together and we have been communicating very well with each other for what's best for our daughter. I talk to her every morning before she goes to school and every night before she goes to bed. The first time she told me that she loved me I actually cried.

So if you're wondering where I've been; there's your answer. I have a new outlook on life and I'm no longer working for myself and that my friends, is the most rewarding feeling one could ever feel.

Here's some pictures of her from when she was 10 to 13 (the last picture is when I smashed her with a water balloon when I was visiting). I'm such a proud parent!

You'd be amazed at how much my mentality and view on life has changed. I'm actually caring about the education system and young boys piss me off.

Here's a recent picture of me (not great because it was night) but I am half Korean and half German. Her mother is Half Korean and half Croatian. An interesting mix. :thumbsup

That is my nephew. He's 50% Vietnamese, 25% Korean, and 25% German. He's so smart and is already one hell of an athlete! :thumbsup

This isn't the time to be mad about something ... it prolly wakes you up really quick about life...

Kids are precious, and they make you learn a lot more then you could imagine.

Rob 05-20-2006 09:27 PM

I more clear picture that was taken about 3 years ago in NY.

You will start looking at EVERYTHING from a different perspective now. I've got 2 daughters and they are the best things that ever happened to me. Being a dad is a gift and you sound like you are cherishing it like you should, good job man!

DaddyHalbucks 05-20-2006 10:03 PM

A great story, one with a happy ending.

Nice to hear it!

:)

Choppa 05-20-2006 10:04 PM

great stuff Rob, you have put warmth in my heart with that story. I wish you all the best and even though your knowledge of her was 13 years late, cherish every future moment with your daughter.

Exactly! I'll never be able to make up for the lost 13 years but I sure as hell can do everything in my power to make sure the rest of her life is the best life she could ever possibly have.

I would live life in poverty if I knew that she had everything that she needs. Since I found out I have already started on the 529 Plan (prepay college) and several other things to ensure she has everything she needs to succeed in life.

StickyGreen 05-20-2006 10:08 PM

that's crazy...hope it all works out for you...

Tom_PM 05-20-2006 10:10 PM

Is that the mother in the pics too? Wow pretty ladies in your life. You're just in time to beat up any older boy's who try to date her, lol :)

Loryn 05-20-2006 10:26 PM

WOW that is for sure your girl!!! Congrats enjoy every moment! It's good to hear someone not cause drama in a situation like this and just make the best of it. Too many people in life, especially on this board, get pissed and angry about things instead of thinking positive and getting ahead in life.

I give you :thumbsup :thumbsup

mrthumbs 05-20-2006 10:28 PM

did you give her an xbox or playstation?

HouseHead 05-20-2006 10:39 PM

Congrats yo! Treat her well...

HouseHead 05-20-2006 10:40 PM

My best friend had a doughter about a year ago..That forsure changed his life in a few different ways

lazycash 05-20-2006 10:45 PM

I can certainly see how being thrust into that situation would re adjust your perspective on things. Does the mother have any kind of reasonable explanation as to why she waited 13 years to be certain of who the father is? Did your daughter want to know why you weren't involved in her life up until now, even though you didn't even know about her?

L0rdJuni0r 05-20-2006 10:52 PM

thats a really cool story. i hope things just keep getting better and better. Thats awsome news and congrats!!!
