Usually the difference between Jail, and prison is 365 to 366 days.

well here in canada you have a pretrial centre that you go to until you go to court (if you don't make bail)

and then if your sentence is 2 years and under you go to a jail thats only for 2 and under sentences.. but if its above 2 years then you go to the big big jail.... the hardcore one in winnepeg

pretrial centre - very lax, no lockdown at any times etc
2 year jail - still very lax, you can have an xbox in your cell etc
the 2 and up+ EXTREMELY lax... you can get all types of shit for your cell

and the rapes are free :thumbsup


that being said, i've never been charged ..... I wouldn't want to catch a stupid charge, because if you get ANY charge, you can't enter the states :upsidedow

P.S. i think with his original post he meant, have you ever been arrested, and have you ever gotten charged and went to jail

LA Mens Central prison

In the united states we got jails for people sentenced to less then a year and degrees of prison for people sentenced to longer.

The levels are usually 1 - 5 pending on the state the higher the number the more secure.

Escape risks and people who are administrative problems are ususally in the higher level prisons.

Level 1 is usually a open work camp type prison

Level 5 is usually a maximum security with isolated wings

In some states with even have Level 6 supermax prisons - where the inmates are kept in isolation

If you commit the same offense as Dubya, they will let you in, no problem.

the jail system here is two years less a day here..and you get to stay comfy...anything over two years is serious jailtime...kingston..winnipeg etc

Just an arrest and a holding cell until booked and then released on Bail.

But for the time I was there, it wasnt the best place..
