Epassporte WARNING - got charged 4 * $79.29 and not getting a thing

most of you already knew this , but epassporte SHOULD NOT be used for buying stuff online

I decided to do so , but boy I regret it

I wanted to buy some stuff over at amazon.com . The stuff I wanted would cost me in total with express shipping $79.29.

I fill out the CC info and think everything is ok. It's not.

I check my epassporte online statement and see I am getting charged 4 * $79.29 instead of one. On top of that I get a message from amazon.com that they are unable to charge my card.

Final result : I have to pay 4 * $79.29 for something I will never receive

amazon claims they are unable to charge my card ,yet my 4 * $79.29 is gone ? but to who ?

epassporte says I have to get amazon.com to send them a fax to resolve this , amazon.com says they are unable to charge my card and thus they dont need to fax shit

>>> DONT USE epassporte for online payments :disgust

woj 11-27-2005 06:45 AM

You will get the money back eventually, next year probably :1orglaugh

beta-tester 11-27-2005 06:46 AM

damn that sucks man :(
sorry to hear that....but you have to convince Amazon to fax the shit to ePass....and your pending amount will be droped...

~Ray 11-27-2005 06:51 AM

epass could fix that with 1 phone call... but, they won't.

Furious_Male 11-27-2005 06:53 AM

Make it clear to amazon that you realize this isn't there fault, but faxing what epassporte needs would go a long way in keeping you as a customer.

Dagwolf 11-27-2005 06:54 AM

Sounds weird. :(

With the excessive fees Epassporte charges, one would think they would have a better customer service.

Lykos 11-27-2005 07:07 AM

Damn,that really sux:(

2HousePlague 11-27-2005 07:10 AM

It's worth sending the fax. There is a 30-day clearance period during which the merchant may change their mind, offer additional info. etc. Epassporte can't do anything before 30 days, without permission or "info" from the merchant.

Paul Markham 11-27-2005 07:10 AM

That sucks, must be someway to resolve it.

I am right here :)
My contact info is in my sig.

The place where you used your virtual visa put through a pending authorization on your epassporte account. This means they have 30 days to either drop the authorization or process the transaction. If they do nothing, we must hold the pending authorization for a 30 day period. If you can contact the merchant and ask them to fax us a letter on company letter head stating they do not intend to process this transaction, we can remove the pending charge for you.

Michael O 11-27-2005 08:45 AM

I have personally used my virtual card several times at amazon.co.uk with no problems.

Hmmm. I am surprised it has proven this difficult to reach Amazon via normal routes. So, I must concede your point, if Amazon (or any other merchant) makes it this hard to resolve a matter of this type. I would presume to convey my experience to epassporte, and presume to expect their concerned attention. Feedback, at the right level of management, to the right person in the organization can transform a company. I've seen it happen. I've done it -- lol.

I would also extend epassporte some slack, since this regulation is not likely to be one that exists for their protection, so they probably don't have the option to call some bankerFed in DC and ask him to "lift" it so you can toss somebody 80 bucks -- :winkwink:

But back to the subject of Amazon, and onto abnormal routes of getting in touch with the company.

I would ask this guy why you can't a CS rep on the phone and why he's been selling so much stock of late?

And if Amazon.com refuses still, then send off a report to the BBB against Amazon.com :) You can do it online and it will get taken care of.

I hear ya bro -- but let's not forget who the bad guys are, right. This is just another instance of the "front line" we face in this business that is rapidly beginning to feel like a circle, a noose. We have in epassporte the benefit of a service provided to us by people we actually know, who come to this board, in short, WHO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU AND ME. Now, I realize it's cozy for some of y'all to think the world can all be monitored (if not controlled) from GFY -- it CANNOT. We're in here as much hiding, as we are brilliantly colluding. Whichever the case, I know that epass is in here with me -- :2 cents:

That's it -- :thumbsup

Gather in ye all the data -- let us ALL take a look at it -- :winkwink:

We'll see what we got and, together, I bet we'll come up with something good -- :)

FYI: I had a jack in the box mishap looked just like that, that's how i know about the faxing -- lol -- it turned out that a decline (either because the cashier had entered the wrong figure or the amount of the charge exceeded balance) was still debited to me. Now, it sure ain't epass got that money. It happened at the Clift Hotel Bar too -- a few months back. I said run a tab, and they debited my card for $150. I wound up having one drink, paid for that and thought all was fine. Nope. The Clift was holding my cash. But I was feeling a little feisty, so I talked to one of the owner's main guys and just sprinkled a few consumer protection acronyms at him and words like usury and extortion, which will terrify the weak-spined senior manager who is out of his depth -- :1orglaugh

epassporte says I have to get amazon.com to send them a fax to resolve this , amazon.com says they are unable to charge my card and thus they dont need to fax shit

i was in the same story with a hosting campany
epassporte charged me but the company did got any monies..
so i told that company to send them the stuff
and epassporte charged me back..
so everything is ok for now
and yes it is all know fact that you sould not buy anything with epassporte cards

SmokeyTheBear 11-27-2005 09:44 AM

I had the same problem , epassporte will eventually clear the extra charges after amazon fax's the stuff to them. But you have to be persistent or they will just ignore you.

These problems arent unique to epassporte , i have them happen on regular visa's too , but its much easier to clear the charges on a regular visa ( call the 1-800 line and its done )

V_RocKs 11-27-2005 10:05 AM

Well... here is what happened...

Amazon tried 4 times to charge the card. However the card is international and therefor certain things like varifying the address doesn't work. So it keeps getting declined.

Epassporte doesn't know each transaction is the same one. How could it? So it "holds" this amount each time.

Notice the PENDING on each charge. When Amazon doesn't actually get the money you will get your money back to spend. Read the FAQ at Epassporte.com to find out more about the length of time between the decline and the funds being available though...

Have a nice life.

I BTW bought a Dell monitor for around $600 and just had to answer some questions over the phone. Got it just fine...

Chris 11-27-2005 10:06 AM

i used my card at amazon.com many many times
including yesterday with no problem

and keyzer
i dont know what they are telling you in your new position but anytime ineed something dropped my contacts at epass has always done it for me without making me wiat 30 days
why make this guy? you guys can verify if it is a legit transaction or not and ya guys know it ;)

Overstock.com did the same thing to me. Told me they couldn't authorize my Epassporte card #, yet there was a bunch of charges on there and Overstock.com said there wasn't anything they could do about it because my card couldn't be authorized. Fuckers.

imageman 11-27-2005 01:22 PM

Amazon.com is all fucked up. I ordered 3 books and recieved them 3 times. I am assuming my CC was charged 3 times as well. Something is wrong with this company it used to be a great place to buy books ?

adultchica 11-27-2005 01:30 PM

That is some crazy shit! I bought something off of amazon a while back with epass and it worked fine.

What sucks with epassporte is they give the merchant 30 days for the charge to get completed. So you are out that money for 30 days at least, once that 30 days is up the charge should come off. Damn that sucks.

This is an authorization charge. They didnt take the money. They made sure you had it available to spend. The CC company takes it away from your available balance in case amazon decides they want your cash. It will come back
