Here a PIC and solid advice for FLORIDA people. DO NOT IGNORE THIS and Add Stuff

Ok, I have been through a hurricane before in South Florida. Please take this advice.

Right now, at this very moment, do yourselves a world of pre planning and do the following. I know it's not hard to believe but it is relly the insurance companies job to NOT pay you for losses.

1) Take photos of everything of value that you may want to claim in the event of your shit being owned by this hurricane. Upload those photos to a server, do not leave it on your harddrive. Harddrives and water dont mix.

2) Take all receipts and important paperwork to a safe deposit box at your bank.
(this would include. Receipts and documentation for all those things you are taking pictures of). Don't think for a minute that the insurance company is going to give you 2500 bucks for a tv that you said you paid 2500 dollars for from an ad in the newspaper.

3) Get Beer. Lots of it. Trust me you will drink it warm. I will. On the real, get water too.

4) A) If you evacuate, Cover electonics with mattress pad covers. They are very thick and can take a beating. A big screen wrapped in one of these can survive unless something falls on it.

If leaving: B) Unplug everything except the refrigerator. Surges in power will fuck up your shit.

If leaving: C) Tell someone you are going so your neighbors can loot your house. No seriously, let them know so they can keep an eye out if you trust them. Otherwise, post a big ass sign on your front door saying " Paranoid Schitzophrenic with loaded shotgun inside this dwelling, and hungry!"

5) At the very least, invest in one of those fire safes that are waterproof and fireproof and put your most important documents in them.

Please feel free to add to this list.

I am sure the webmasters in N.O. and Texas will tell you not to underestimate this thing. It is taking the same path that Charly did and is much stronger. This is a stronger Hurricane than Katrina was and Bigger than Rita. I hope this bitch stays away from us.

that is ONE CRAZY motherfuckin hurricane, seriosuly be careful out there guys

KRL 10-19-2005 03:07 PM

Right now the computer models are all out of sync with each other. So this could go anywhere.

It all depends on the cold front coming down from the North which way this goes.

Recently these forecasters have been off quite a bit.

So yeh plan, but don't freak out. Also since this is a west side storm the east coast won't get as intense winds or surge as if it was a east side approach.

i agree with this statement 100%. This is a precautionary notice on my part because I have been through one in south florida years back. that one was kinda fun. this one doesn't seem like fun at all.

the forecasters are having a tough time deciding if Wilma will phase, link or move out to sea...

latest models I looked at said the Keys were going to bear the brunt of the storm..but I am sure that will change by the 11pm update.

Babagirls 10-19-2005 03:12 PM

Hey Airek what site is that taken from? I visit http://www.flhurricane.com for alot of info. They are bunch of Florida Meteorologists and are pretty accurate with their predictions. I am with you KRL, the models are suggesting some crazy shit but we have to wait and see.

I was in Miami when Andrew hit, and I can say that although A1R3K has made some valid points, if the storm is the size of andrew, there will not be much you can do but kiss your ass good by. The photograph thing is the best plan. that way the insurance company will have something to work with. Burn the images to cd. they get wet, they are still good.

dirtydesignz 10-19-2005 08:39 PM

Well, we live in Cancun. We have the windows boarded up, bags packed and are leaving first thing in the morning. We live about 100 feet from the ocean and I can tell you that the waves are getting big and the water looks so different from when Emily came. It's strange how ominous it feels around here, like we are packing to never come back. It's a different atmosphere now. Feels really bad.

seeric 10-19-2005 08:44 PM

man, i am telling you, more an more natural disasters. you tell me.

shit is crazy. birds falling from the air.

bears eating eagles and shit, at least intellectually.

KRL, to be taken seriously as a weather forecaster, you must mention "THE NORTH EAST QUADRANT" at least every other paragraph :thumbsup

If you don't have one, get a first aid kit just in case.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR PETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take them with you if at all possible!! If you can't take them with you, leave them in the care of someone you KNOW can handle them through the storm.

Take enough meds and water for at least a week per person.

Have extra batteries for EVERYTHING.

Get a NOAA weather radio and keep it tuned to your local area reciever.

Have a "I'm safe" call plan for your family. How this works: Contact someone who lives OUTSIDE the predicted storm path, (and you're welcome to use me if you like), and give them your family's names, ages, and location. Once the storm is over, CALL THAT PERSON to check in and let him or her know that you and your family are safe. If you should get separated from family members, call in anyway and tell your contact what's going on. Make sure every family member knows to do this should you get separated, so that your contact can inform them and/or you of each other's whereabouts. (If you'd like to use me as your contact, icq me at 11120676 for my phone number and we'll set ya up.)

Take a family picture NOW. Get the film developed, put a date on the back, and mail it to your contact or another relative in case you get separated. This will assist searchers in locating your family and getting you guys back together safely.

And please, don't imagine that "this storm won't be that bad." Too many people have already made that mistake.

Look... I got on my phone earlier that this is the QUOTE and thats a FUCKING QUOTE "biggest hurricane in recorded history".

My advice is don't waste time on "extra batteries" and "canned food". GET THE FUCK OUT. If I lived (and my family) anywhere even near this shit we'd be mid-america by now......... :2 cents:

KittyLix 10-19-2005 09:13 PM

god i am going crazy knowing my sister and aunts are down there :(

For those who CAN'T get out, my advice is good. Hell, it's good anyway, simply because not everyone can get out who needs to get out. Sadly there's too many folks and not enough time. IMHO, those who are WAY inland can better stick it out than those on the coast. (And no, I'm not trying to advocate that those folks stay there. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate and trying to help where I can while still trying to keep a hold of what little brain power I have left at this point.)

But yes, if you can, GET THE FUCK OUT.

seeric 10-19-2005 09:40 PM

i'm a crazy fucker, i am filming it !!!! :)

Yep, pets are important. I take my cat with me when we leave, after all, he is part of our family. And as for everything else, we still have most things ready from when Emily hit....

Adult Site Traffic 10-19-2005 09:55 PM

This is bad already. We've has gusts up to 50 MPH I think. The water is coming over our storm wall and I'm considering getting my family out tonight.

The area we live in can become isolated with deep salt water long before the storm actually hits.

I have a 6 hour drive through the jungle tomorrow, and I'm considering buying a chain saw.

I have 4 more nails to drive into concrete but I have to rest my arm. I boarded up a neighbor who is alone tonight and our entire house.

I think on this one the boards were a waste of time.

We're leaving with our car, cat, computers and clothes. I fear that this time when we come back it will be to try to find all of our friends who are staying behind and not to move back into our house.

This storm is only 1,000 feet off of the water.

I'm exhausted. Not safe to drive here out on the highways at night and it's 12:30 am.

I'm going to try to get 4 hours of sleep and go.

I find it amazing that the news is mainly talking about it hitting Florida...hardly any mention that is is going to affect Cancun ...there are over 500k people that live here :(

I do hope for the safety of those Florida people.

satellite images show it growing in strength.

lets see how it pans out.

if it keeps going west and bashes mexico, it will lose strength.
