What do you think the best cut of steak is?
I am a huge fan of the porterhouse (Medium rare)

Yup, I love the porterhouse too,
And a good NY Striploin is always nice. |
A Filet Mignon is the best by far. But I have to say a good porter is nice as well.

|
porter house or ribeye
|
There can be only one cut of beef
Chateau Brion
Its a huge Tenderloin cut enough for two people. You can get it in the Uk and France in most restaurants but in San Diego i have found just one that's the Hind Quarter on Miramar Rd. Beats the shit out of anything else. Be prepared to pay around $50 but its for two people remember so its not bad value |

Filet mignon may be the best cut to some; but, I'll take a porterhouse, NY strip, or T-bone any day of the week. Medium rare, please.

Personally I like skirt steak grilled over mesquite. Wagu beef is damn good. Kobe is produced in Texas and distributed nationally these days, but it's not nearly as good as Wagu Kobe beef.
A good aged sirloin or a nice porterhouse dry aged is damn good also. |
new york strip

I guess I'm the only one that loves some prime rib ? :(

Filet.
Never understand why so many are hung up on Ribeye (my Father's favorite also). A Medium Rare Filet has so much flavor and practically melts in front of you, especially if it's aged properly. You practically don't even need a knife to cut it. Going to Ruth's Chris this Sat, maybe I'll give the Ribeye another shot... PS - You Porterhouse fans do understand that the smaller portion on the other side of the bone is a filet right? That's why you like it so much. :thumbsup |
this thread makes me hungry. nice steak pics, yummy!

NP, I have seen some people on here say El Grouchos is the best in Seattle, but they judge by $$ not quality. Posers to say the least... The Metropolitan Grill is renowned for excellent steak. I have tried alot of great places, including the Chicago Chop House (one of my favorites) and the chains like Ruths and Smith and Wolenskys. The Met is by far the best of them all IMHO. |
this thread makes me hungry. nice steak pics, yummy! :winkwink:

I grilled a steak outdoors, on my Weber, over Kingsford at 11:30 pm , JUST because this thread made me hungry... strip was great.
