So your server's been fucked for 36 hours...

And your host is still not responding to you.. What do you do other then move your shit?

I was already in the process of moving, new hosting is arranged and things are about to be relocated, but suddenly I can't get my email because the old server's fucked and my business has ground to a halt because of it...

Would you be impressed? I know I most certainly fucking am. JFPDUDE, you are a true asshole.

Anyone who has agreements in place with JFPDude and Steadfastnetworks beware, they will not assist me with support because I'm this asshole's customer. He has agreed to support me, which he isn't. I guess I should have listened to the people who were slamming him for being exactly what he turned out to be. Fuck you Mark.

Gawdy 06-27-2005 11:54 AM

That sucks dude. What host was it or did I miss that part?

After 500 of his threads about how everyone else treats him so bad as a server admin.... I started to think.... hmm... maybe it's him.

Machete_ 06-27-2005 11:57 AM

Aren't they the ones who took over Foundry Nap?

JFP Dude has had a long history of being flakey... he is good when he is around, but he tends to dissapear...

Unfortunately we'd had a very good relationship with him up until this point. I didn't figure it'd be a huge issue though because he only set me up with Steadfast, little did I realize that for his cut, they wouldn't offer me support.

if your income depends on your servers, you should always have multiple mirrored servers setup at different hosts in geographically different locations using a fail over dns solution

I'm not sure who they are, I haven't had any problems with connectivity or uptime and their support responded fast as hell (To tell me they couldn't help me -- but still, they were on top of it). So I don't blame them in the least, they had an agreement with JFP and he never made me aware of it. I blame him 100%.

Oddly enough, because of the business that myself and my wife do, I pretty much only need a solid server to get/send my email from (No, not spam or lists or anything like that, just b2b email). I could probably make the same money from my cable email addy.. At least it'd be up :)

MickeyG 06-27-2005 12:04 PM

so you trusted your entire operation to a third-party reseller? I bet you won't do that again.

Someone who I thought was a friend, and you're entirely right, I won't be doing that again. My own fault for trusting anyone, the only thing you can depend on is people letting you down in this business.

President 06-27-2005 12:11 PM

You got 36 Hours

Yeah, take a pill and call some hookers :1orglaugh

sorry, couldn't resist, shit every other email I gets says 36 hours!

m00d - who is encouraging you? How long were your servers down when you had no backup (it was a LOT longer than 36 hours, that's for sure)? Why did you start posting private emails between your company and one of your customers?

JMM 06-27-2005 12:14 PM

While I understand that you are already in the process of moving, new hosting has been arranged and things are about to be relocated, I just want to say that I have been with reflected.net for over a year and it has never taken me longer than 5 minutes to get a support person on the phone, any time of the day or night.
