Nothing special about their software that's worth millions, so I'd say the domain is the gem in that deal.

I think its time they hire a new designer for that logo. What's up with that?

I'm sure the decent PR didn't hurt the price either - as well as they obviously are making some cash on banner ad sales.

Not even 20k a day. But those folks are worth a ton of jing so maybe this will work out.

Gambling is the most profitable niche there is, so it makes sense that this name would go for basically 5-10x what most other names of that quality would go for.

They have a lot of incoming links (due to their old content, before they shifted to PPC), and also a HUGE database of 200,000 double opt-in emails, which contribute significantly to the value of the deal. Not a pure domain deal, but obviously the domain is worth at least $8 million of the $20 million, in my opinion.

You can't get too much of a better domain name for a gambling related site than that. That's to the gambling industry as sex.com is to the adult industry.

Ricks understands it well -- it was under 10 times their gross profit, so it was a reasonably good purchase....comparable to the Marchex deal (although with Marchex, those were all undeveloped domains).
