KRL: Are you selling dirtyjokes.com for $100k?

I thought you had a deal with some studio or something? Someone appears to be repping the name on dnforum.

Anyway, give me a 24 hour test of ppc on my server and I might pay your asking.

All I need is 24 hours and I'll kick back all ppc revenue earned during the test.

Let me know. Dead serious. I paid $100k recently for urbanlegends.com

Hit me up and let me know. :thumbsup

Brujah 04-23-2005 05:40 AM

how was the ppc ? I'm not seeing any adwords or overture ppc bids displayed for either 'dirty jokes' or 'urban legends'

dirtyjokes.com is a great name though! will be a nice pickup.

brand0n 04-23-2005 07:07 AM

He's said before that he wants to sell it if the price is right.

It's rare that Rick outpays me on the same domain. I give him lots of credit, but he's rarely one of the top buyers price-wise. He's very conservative on the buy side.

arnette 04-23-2005 07:42 AM

i swear i saw it listed on ebay for $20k a few weeks ago, but i cant seem to find it now

polish_aristocrat 04-23-2005 08:00 AM

Rick aka webfather?

I thought KRL bought it from him together with men.com
Why would he sell to him again?

hmm goo dname KRL is it for sale?

triumph 04-23-2005 08:29 AM

I noticed it also, its a nice name, interesting to see what krl says.

pradaboy 04-23-2005 08:46 AM

I doubt he's really selling the name

Dirty F 04-23-2005 08:48 AM

Hey dombuyer...do you think funnyjokes.in could be worth something?

Dirty F 04-23-2005 09:01 AM

And dirtyjokes.in ?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-23-2005 09:04 AM

I think DomBuyer wants to do PPC with DirtyJokes.com :1orglaugh

Dirty F 04-23-2005 09:05 AM

I think it bugs me that both .in and .co.in are available and that i dont know which one is gonna be important. I see both extensions being sold already.

pussyluver 04-23-2005 09:09 AM

As long as we may have KRL's attention , I have a mainstream site name up for sale. I don't want to publish the name here, but can tell you the name is of significance. OK, that's my opinion. Everybody things they have the million dollar winner, I know.

Speculators in larger dollar domain names hit me on ICQ.

Drake 04-23-2005 09:12 AM

Dombuyer, what's the most you've ever bought or sold a non dot com domain for?

KRL 04-23-2005 09:24 AM

Here's the deal with DJ.

Yep we had a damn sweet deal on it. $250,000 with Comedy Central TV Network which is owned by Viacom and they also own Jokes.com.

They wanted to do extremely edgy stuff on DirtyJokes.com and the deal was working its way up the corporate approval ladder nicely.

However apparently Viacom's head corporate acquisitions office has to OK deals on that price level and it wasn't the money that nixed it from what I heard but what Comedy Central had plans for on it that made Viacom's head acquisition and programming honcho's go no way.

So that deal fell through unfortunately and that would have been a huge score had it gone through.

We had it has just a jokes site the first year and got 4,000 jokes and 16,000 subscribers. It gets about 600 to 1200 uniques per day consistently. Great page views. (by the way we just moved it to a new server and haven't moved over and reconfigured the jokes database yet.) and are now going more adult with it.

We've been making money with it as a sales tool for when we sell ads on Men we often give comp ads on DJ. But like I said we're adding more adult content on now to see what that will generate also.

I don't think we'll sell it for under $100K. We've had 3 offers in the $25K range, and one at $75K.

[email protected]

PS DB I tested it myself recently on PPC and it does way more money as is under the traditional banner model.

Rick had originally paid $67K for it.

DomBuyer 04-23-2005 09:29 AM

Ok, thanks for clearing that up KRL

So what about the guy trying to rep it on dnforum? Is he legit? He's quoting 1000-1800 type-ins a day. That's what peaked my interest.

DomBuyer 04-23-2005 09:32 AM

I have a similar name, funnyshit.com, which does so-so on ppc, so at least I know the terrain I'd be expecting.

I didn't see that. Let me go see who it is. LOL

It has gotten that much traffic before, but I prefer quoting lower figures for the type-ins.

KRL 04-23-2005 09:35 AM

Dom Buyer.

Holy shit. Who the fuck is that scammer on DN? That's not my nick and he's acting like its his domain.

Do you know anyone over there so I can find out who that is???

Wow. Thanks a mil for the heads up on that.

I have some vague idea that I've dealt with this guy before, but I can't place it.

You want me to post in the dnforum thread that you haven't authorized him to sell it?

Wow! Thanks a million DB. I owe you one. Trying to find out who that is right now.

The only person who has ever been authorized as a broker on it before was Monte at Moniker who handles Ricks big domains and mine.

Thanks! I just posted myself on there and on Rick's people to warn everyone.

The only thing I can think of is someone offered me $75K for it this week and they might be attempting to test the quick flip potential on it.

Thanks Sam. Its the downside to when you do a lot of stuff in the public eye.

All the weasles come out to play with you. You have to be vigilante as hell.

You would not believe the things I've dealt with over the years with shit like this. It ceases to amaze me.

sonofsam 04-23-2005 09:59 AM

:)

also a question if you don't mind... you have any tips for selling domains ? like if you are holding on to a domain.. is it suggested that you just list them on all the domain selling market places? or actively persue companies you think would be interested in the name? and if so which department do you usually contact?

thanks in advance :)

I did buy them together.

Rick has always had a standing offer on the table to buy them back for what I paid if I ever want to sell them. Its very hard to part with domains like that obviously. I've had the same feelings with a couple nice domains I sold over the years that I wish I hadn't sold after selling them.

Hit me up on michael at makebling.com or leave me with your email and I'll get in touch.

This is a serious request.

Say what??

I don't own the domain FunnyShit.com.

Is it a full moon today or what. LOL :1orglaugh

I think you'll always do better actively targeting a potential buyer matched to your domain theme perfectly.
