question for the SEO guys who say "There's no money in SEO" on this board

OK, some of you SEO guys who are known for doing SEO and have a tendency of saying on gfy "There's no money in SEO" and I was wondering why you do this?

It seems obvious to me that if you're known for doing well with SEO, yet you say that there's no money in it, then you're going to attract a lot of attention and get other people interested in the SEO game because it could appear as if you're hiding a gold mine. And everybody loves a gold mine.

Obviously the more competitors you have the more difficult it is to maintain high rankings, so why continue to do it? It seems like your'e just shooting yourself in the foot. Is your goal to get more competitors or are you trying to deter them? Enlighten me please :)

hjnet 01-17-2005 04:04 AM

Inverse Logic, they want you to think that SEO is a goldmine, but in reality it's a waste of time :)

xxxjay 01-17-2005 04:06 AM

There is no money in SEO or there is a lot of money in SEO.

Things are as they should be.

These are not the droids you are looking for.

There's no money in TGP.

Jace 01-17-2005 04:10 AM

basically i think the rationale is that if someone is going to do something, they are going to do it whether or not someone make a smart ass comment about it or not

most people that get into SEO will get out before they make any difference whatsoever, it ain't the easiet part of this biz, and newbies here asking about SEO are looking for a quick cash option

kush 01-17-2005 04:11 AM

Does anybody who hears "there's no money in SEO" actually believe there's no money in SEO?

You took the words right out of my mouth, so Newbies there's money everywhere, you just have to work HARD for it, so it doesn't make a huge difference WHAT you do (if you're not retarded), but it does make a difference HOW you do it.

hova 01-17-2005 04:25 AM

There is no money at all

kush 01-17-2005 04:27 AM

Obviously there's money in SEO, a fairly good amount too I admit.

But I don't think there's enough of it to support as large of a crowd of people as there is general adult webmastery... people are misled to think that for the average webmaster it's easier to make money with SEO than with other things... and I completley disagree.

For the average webmaster, you're better off not doing SEO in my opinion (you just don't have the time/resources to really commit what you have to in order to climb the competition)

jazzll 01-17-2005 04:31 AM

There's no money in SEO.

Case closed.

its similar like putting a link into signature "i make 600 this year" look how.

How many sites like jays xxx links was here at the start of previous year and how many sites is one year after? Every mofo and his grandmother is trying to put in work his own LL nowadays and tries to copy jays success. Even jays as consequence of this doesnt have such overwhelming positions in SERPS (of course its due change in google algo too) as it used to be.

I know jay will call me idiot and hater here, but i dont really care.

Ah, I see now. I enjoyed the Star Wars movies but I can't say that I can easily identify allusions to them ;)

Actually in Jay's situation I think that helps him get exposure to OCcash, which is probably high in the list of benefits vs risks for him.

If a millionaire makes his money selling magazines door to door and he consistently tells people there is no money in selling magazines, would you believe him?

Use your head.

Nicky 01-17-2005 05:40 AM
