So who is educated?

An actual university degree, or currently doing so? I don't mean educated in life, it is possible to do both :)

Do you feel you have missed out on a lot if youve not been to University/College?

I am currently stressed as fuck with my last year of exams for Computing & Management.. Anyone going through same?

majored in bus. management and another in marketing. think its important for an education, but some can get by without one and still make it in the biz.

candyflip 01-15-2005 06:05 PM

BS in Biology.

dunefield 01-15-2005 06:05 PM

Kard63 01-15-2005 06:06 PM

Yes, a small part of every successful person feels like crap if they dont have a degree. They will gladly tell you about how they were too busy in the real world instead.

Keep on it.

pxxx 01-15-2005 06:08 PM

I am now attending my second year, looking to finish as a Pharmacist.

Yeah, i love the idea of being a pharmacist. Atleast having the paper that says i can get the job when i want to. lol. Many people do not realize how nice it is. Only 5 years of your life, and some people start off at 90k a year after graduation. Four of my friends started at 90k/year after finishing up. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Azlord 01-15-2005 06:12 PM

BS in Graphic Information Technology... ASU

Fancy title for Graphics/Mangement...more for print media tho.

Oh yes, extremely laid back job. I think it is a dream job, lol. People always asked me what my dream job is and i reply, "Pharmacist."

Shannon G 01-15-2005 06:18 PM

I got my BS in Biology, Math, Chemistry, and Pshychology... MS in Scientific & Technical Communications.

Always knew that a "regular" job would not be for me. Tried shark diving, karate instructor, talent scout... couldn't find the same risk/reward rush as adult :thumbsup

pxxx 01-15-2005 06:24 PM

I don't think I will be working the "regular" neither, but i just want my degree, so i can get a job in my area when i decide to work the regular. Also, it does make me feel complete.

pharmacist is a great gig - can't think of a 6 figure a year job with less stress. what's the worst thing that can happen 'Oh shit, the shipment of Prozac is late! What will we do!?!?!' or 'We ran out of plastic bottles again dammit! Heads are gonna roll!'

I have a B.A in political science - very useful degree, i am listed in the Yellow Pages under 'Political Scientists' and am available for Outcalls and offer emergency 24 hour service.

Ross 01-15-2005 06:31 PM

I have a Major in drinking alcohol! Took many many years to perfect!

I was very close to pursuing my BSc, until I started Xamo. I've learned so much more than I would have if I had chose that route, I do not regret not going after my degree. I think my path of self-education was far more efficient and enlightening than learning from a group of people which don't really know how to truly innovate, it's not something that is easy to teach.

If I had pursued my degree, I would not be as successful as I am today, and probably stuck in a boring technical job that I didn't like nearly as much. :evil-laug

I got a double major in Computer Sciences and in Combinatorics & Optimization. And yes it certainly did help my business, considering I learnt how to program from the CS degree and how to figure out search engines from the C&O degree.

BS Computer Science.... It helped out a lot.. Wish I had taken more high end biz courses though.

Kimmykim 01-15-2005 08:08 PM

A degree doesn't necessarily carry the weight it used to, unless you are in a critical field, like a doctor or a marine biologist or a behavioural scientist. MBAs are certainly so easy to get today that unless you've got one from a top five school it really doesn't matter all that much.

Thank the good old internet for that ;)
