Newbies - A Rant
<rant>
When I first started in this industry, when people got into the business, they had a lot of learning to do.. Most people did what they did by trial and error, and sometimes they would have someone to give them a few pointers. That's pretty much the way of any new business. You work hard, you learn a lot, and you apply what you learn to your business plan..... But these days, newbies come into the business asking for everything on a silver platter. I want free hosting. I want free content. I want free listings. I want free partner accounts. I want a free tgp list to submit to. I want someone to show me how to make bank with avs sites. Now, granted, many of the programs and whatnot are offering these types of services to their affiliates.. but what I don't get is when people who have taken NO time to do research on the HUGE number of resources available to them (and they weren't around in the good old days, or were few and far between), they expect someone else to do all the work for them? Whatever happened to good old-fashioned hard work? Taking the time and paying a little out of pocket to make a dime? If I was starting a grocery store, what would happen if I went to my successful direct competitor and started asking him for his list of suppliers? Or how about asking for his business plan? Or about any new innovations he has coming up? How about asking him to pay for my signs, or my newspaper ads? He would tell me to jump off the biggest fucking bridge I could find. Now don't get me wrong, I like helping newbies... but only the people who are motivated, work hard, and don't want me to hold their hand. I understand pointing someone in the right direction, or doing something nice to give them a leg up, but those types of newcomers are about as rare as you could imagine. When people come to me, or to the boards, or to other places basically demanding that people teach them what they aren't motivated enough to learn themselves, that pisses me off... So now we're expected by these people with their mcdonalds jobs and "Gimmie gimmie" make a quick buck mentality to hand them all the keys to success? Give me a FUCKING BREAK! Do some research.. Put in some long hard hours (that's what the rest of us did). Treat it like a BUSINESS. Be willing to put forth effort, and be willing to spend a few bucks to make a few more bucks. Trial and error is the best teacher... Instead of demanding everything, why not try your hardest, and when you reach a snag, ask for advice on how to figure it out, or hints about which direction you should be headed. Nobody is going to treat you with any respect, any consideration, or much of anything if you aren't willing to go at least that far. Stop crying that you aren't getting serious answers or are getting flamed, because, guess what? It's not going to change anything. The only person that can change that is YOU, newbie. YOU can make all the difference in how people look at you, treat you, respect you. I know a lot of newcomers who've become successful, in a fairly short amount of time, because they did just what I've said.. worked hard, did the research, put in the time. The people who come into this business with no more intention than making a quick buck are a huge part of what's dragging this industry down.. and PEOPLE PANDER TO THESE BABIES! STOP pandering, encourage these people to take some initiative... If they aren't cut out for the business, they will wander away, get lazy, or leave, and that does EVERYONE a lot of good. NO BIG LOSS. The pie is only so big, and the more we have to cut it up, the less there is for everyone who remains. Not only that, but these infantile bottle-demanding, freebie-begging newcomers threaten us all with their less-than-legal business practices and their non-chalant attitude towards professionalism. LET THEM SINK WITH THEIR OWN DINGHY. Now, for those newcomers who are WILLING to put forth the time, effort, and can submit to the learning curve that's natural in any new business, I wish you all the best of luck, and I am happy to give you ideas and hints. For you freeloading fucks who sit and ask "What's 2257?", "Farm animal sex isn't illegal!" , "How do I submit? Someone teach me EVERYTHING" and are generally unwilling to do anything other than exist and expect money to fly into their pockets, a hearty GFY to you. </end rant> |
Can someone teach me about search engines?

trial and error is best way to go, i use it for like everything i do, only way to learn in my opinion.

95% OF ALL ADULT WEBMASTERS ARE TOTALLY CLUELESS AND EVEN WORST BORDERLINE RETARDS.
THEY BARELY CAN'T READ OR WRITE. THEY HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING. USUALLY THE ONES WHO ASK FOR THE MOST SUPPORT ARE THE MOST FUCKED UP ONES. 95% OF ALL WEBMASTERS IN A PARTICULAR PROGRAM NEVER SEND TRAFFIC LET ALONE A SALE. IF YOU AGREE WITH ME, IT MEANS YOU EITHER RUN OR WORK FOR A SPONSOR PROGRAM. IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ME, THEN YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE CLUELESS RETARDS... |
Amen. :)

Keep in mind that most people entering into porn these days would be your average McDonald's employee only if they had a little discipline.

With the current published sponsor stats you're even able to see that only a very few earn more than 1k per sponsor per month and those or mostly the same at every sponsor. There are just many here who try to keep the illusion of the easy 10-100k a month alive. |
The best is we have people who are new in the biz over for coffee. Usually its a girl and her hubby who wants to do a single girl site. I go thru my litany about only use the money you make on it for a year for upgrading equiptment or skills . Its 7 days a week , etc ,etc ,etc. Then the next thing out of their mouths is how they will be able to quit their day jobs in two months . Its like I wasted my breathe lol.

In any other business helping newb's is called consulting...and it comes at a hefty hourly rate

learn from trial and error
|
THANK YOU, LadyM.... I am all about helping newbies and anyone that knows me knows this, but I want to help people who want to help themselves. It isn't even about my time, and most times I will help anyone I can with anything I can and not ever ask for a dime or anything....... but to those that just want something for nothing, well that's just aggrivating. I LOVE helping people, honestly I do.... I am all about hands UP, but not hands OUT... if that makes any sense. :thumbsup
|
I totally agree about trial and error, as well as doing some research and having some knowledge of the biz before going into it. I have learned some costly lessons but am finally getting to the point where we aren't making major bank, but are consistent at least :) Our affiliates have been great, and have helped us along the way, and we do the same for them, (not their job to give us shit on a silver platter, just make us both sales ;-)) we never get into drama or cut throat and so far it's working! There are good people in the biz and some assholes, just a matter of sorting them out :)
|
excellent rant lady M. I get sick of seeing people get handed everything in this business without actually knowing the business itself.
Hell, I am still learning about different areas of this business..there is just so much to learn. :thumbsup |

Surfers are getting smarter, processors are scrubber harding and the gap between click and sale is widening. Then everybody and their grandma wants to open their own site(s) with an affiliate program, thinking they can make millions. Free enterprise is one thing, but most businesses and franchises have standards to live up to, the adult/internet marketing community should be no different. I don't care if I'm slinging porn or pills or remote control cars, there's nothing more irritating than watching things decay at the speed of stupidity. When some people started in this biz 4 or 6 years ago, they weren't thinking long term. They just wanted to make as much money as they could, as fast as they could. Consequences be damned. Now years later, it's harder and more competitive and they had a taste of the money, so they aren't about to go get a 9-5 again (if they had one to begin with). So they degraded the good traffic sources and now they make everyone scramble to make in a week what we used to make by noon on a Sunday. You know how many people I've seen over the years say "I'm helping my brother in law or cousin or neighbor get started or (insert some idiot who knows nothing more than how to open MSIE)". - It's ridiculous, they don't realize they are giving away money they could be making for themselves? They seem to think there's an infinite amount of porn sales out there. Not true anymore. There's only X amount that we ALL have to share now and that number is decreasing by the second. Trust nobody. |

Why anyone would want to add to that chaos and minimize their own gains, I have no idea. Seems like shooting yourself in the foot. These quick-buck bozos might make a few dollars, but the means with which they do it make every click less valuable in the long run. What they do reflects on us as a whole because of their association, and in the long run, that's just plain bad for business. |

Yeah I hear what your saying. I get pissed off with a lot of the new shit thats coming out form newbs. But nothing seems to be stopping them.
|
theres 2 types of newbies:
1) newbies that want to learn and really make a good living from this biz and asks important questions once in a while and will eventually become one of the future successful webmasters to bank off this biz. 2) newbies that have heard success storys and want the money without the hard work, asks stupid questions constantly, wants someone to hold their hand, bitches about not making money and in frustration, begs for more help. Basically, they want the paychecks, but they dont want to work for them (or understand how they got them.) |

Try telling that to some of the clueless idiots who want to be legends in their own lunchtime on a couple of newbie boards. There is one in particular who keeps telling newbies that market is limitless as they try to peddle their own weak product to clueless newbies It's sad to see that the best newbie board out there is the one that seems to get the least amount of page views. |
i do trial and error but they end up all errors :(

you are so damn sexxxy when you rant like this
