Players Ball 2005 - Artists - Sponsorships - All answers here
Most people are confused about the Internext affiliation.
In the past, we were listed as an Internext party, linked on their site, booth onthe show floor, etc. We are not an official party for Internext at all. No link, no booth, no show badge gets you a pass. This doesn't mean I'm going to stop doing what I've been doing for the last 6 years, considering I pre-date Internext. I was doing this during IA2000. Considering we have an Internet group of people, we don't need to be listed on their site to get the word out. We use newsletters, chat boards, live shows and a number of other better forms of promotion. The show must go on. I'm about to give an update on possible artists, just got off the phone with my agent. Who do you want to see perform? I'll give my list in a sec, the possible artists. |
D$ and his events are always a highlght to internext..
Dont care what ya say. Even if you arent part of Internext, its one always gunna be one of the better memories of Internext. Always has been, and always will be. I may just have to lift my ban on going to the shows to make it to your come back party. BP4L style. Keep it up bro. |
Bring It ON D$ :thumbsup :thumbsup

Potential artist as of now.
My main goal is Cypress Hill - They aren't on tour then, not sure if they'll take that date, but I'm making the offer and hoping they take it. I'll throw in a little more then their usual to get it done if I have to. They're around $50k to $70k if they take it. My numbers include their airfare and extra costs for hotel rooms, etc. Snoop Dogg - was the original goal, but he's $100k, which is a good deal, but I can't be sure I can raise that much quick enough. So I'm not pursuing it as hard until I hear back from a few others that will save our sponsors money and still give us a huge artist. George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars - My second choice as of now if Cypress Hill doesn't jump on it. They are the best band of all time and will tear the roof off the mutha sucka! And they'll be around $50k plus rooms and stuff. Great deal if you ask me and the crowd will be super happy, everyone loves a good live band with tons of hits. Busta Rhymes - Also in the running, easy to get a deal done with him. $50k to $75k. A for sure crowd pleaser, can't go wrong with him. LL Cool J - wants around $85k plus rooms and airfare. Too much if you ask me. Ludacris - Perfect artist for a pimp and ho party, around $75k. Lot's of hits. Kid Rock - Is asking for $150k, not worth that much. He's out of the running unless he decides he really wants to do it for half the price. The opening acts will include a big DJ, and Digital Underground with a live funk band behind them. If George Clinton performs, they'll jam together as well. That would be sick! Anyway, shoot your suggestions here. I'm open to all kinds of music. Rock bands are usually more. Even Alien Ant Farm wants $25k to $50k, just so sponsors of Eroticafest understand, that is a real big price, they're not cheap either. I also wouldn't do that act, not that there's anything wrong with them, just not my pick and htey just played a party. I'm giving numbers with the artists in the running to give you webmasters a good feel for why my sponsorships are a great deal. If you only pay $20 for a main sponsorship, and it costs $60k for the main act alone, you can see where the money is spent, then add the other venue costs and artists. Any other artists you'd like to see? 50 Cent and G-Unit wants at least $250k by the way. |
Keep on coming with the options , you have some great talent mentioned there:2 cents: :thumbsup
|
ludacris or snoop...
|
Any of those options would bring the house down, my personal favorites would be Cypress Hill , Snoop, Lucacris, or Busta.

lil jon
yin yang twins |
shit
prince! hah morris day and the time had some good shit for an old school act luke / 2 live crew would do well too :2 cents: |
N.E.R.D
Third Eye Blind (best live show I've seen from any band ever!) Queens of the Stone Age (if they're not broken up?) 311 Those would be some cool, affordable choices I think..... |
I deal with a guy who books good acts for our car shows down here (last time Mystikal, Jin Tha and Drag On) and I should be getting a call back from Koch Entertainment about hunting down B.G. from chopper city records about something we were playing around with last night. I will give you an email when I can but hit me up on icq when you get a chance and I will see if I can help you get some acts together or maybe my guy can get you better prices or something.
|
How about the Bare Naked Ladies :winkwink:
Common they are a Canadian band! LOL! DH |
I'll sing for half price. Please wire the funds in advance though. ;)
Great list...also....it is ashame you need to put the numbers out...but maybe people will begin to realize that there isn't a ton of money being pocketed all of the time when throwing parties like this...it comes at a cost if you want the best. :) |
how about this
Daft Punk as an electronic artist and PFunk as the funk artist and call the party "Funk Vs. Punk".... just a thought, not sure if you wanna throw all that money towards it, but it would be dope |
you still haven't checked out any of the big southern artists who will party harder and play cheaper
|
From the ones you listed Darren, I like ludacris the best for the price range given.
WG |
but my decision would be ludacris
i like the other artists, but cypress hill is a pot smokin band and not a pimp and hoe band ludacris is the biggest pimp out of all them right now, plus he is lives like 15 miles from me, so I have to support him |

I'm looking to possibly book GWAR for a party, so leave them alone D$ ;-))
also, if I know what date you're looking to book, so I can book around the Player's Ball, that would help as well I had spoken to them about playing Vegas last year but didn't have enough time to get things in order when they finally got back to me.... sorry, not trying to threadjack what about an older band? something like Anthrax (who kind of started the whole rap-metal crossover)...I know they can be booked for the $15-20K neighborhood |

I must say, you've done some of the best designs ever for the Players Ball. Always a VIP at our parties. 4 L I've got a new addition this year that I'll give you. This year I've teamed up with Don Magic Juan in making the real Players Cards. You see, Don Magic Juan has his Famous Players Cards he gives to his real pimps, players, rappers and celebs. Oh yeah, I'm also a Famous Player, #702 according to my Players Card. It's gold and green, looks like a Players Card, has the Players code on the back and name on the front, has an expiration date. So, I told Don, I want to put some money in his pocket this year and have his lady who makes his Players Cards make them for our Players, with my own design and code of ethics. As an option this year, you can order your player card and we'll either send it to you in the mail or give it to you in Vegas. I guarantee, it will give you mass street cred even though we all know it's just a webmaster event Player Card. You show that to people, they'll be impressed. And it's a cool thing to have. It's also going to get you into future events when we have mainstream concerts in your area or discounts other Players Ball related promotions. You just pay $10 for the card, it has your nick handle on it. So Media, you will have a real players card if all works out as planned this year. And if you want to help make the design, which I'm keeping real simple, I'd be honored to have you do it, for old times sake. |

Last time I learned my lesson with trying to get artists through new channels. What happens is, you get their camps knowing about it, they get to thinking we're desperate to book them, then they jack the prices up when contracts are about to be signed and you get the small time agents demanding that they get paid a fee. I got jacked hard last year when I booked Green Lantern last year. Ended up paying an extra $3k more then I had to because of these other hands in the pot. And the truth of the matter is, these smaller agents take your money first before even speaking with the artists. Last year, Green Lantern's manager didn't have me booked in the schedule less then 2 weeks before the gig. It was only went I went around this other agent that I found out the real story. That creates a new kind of tension with that agent, let alone my existing agents feelings get hurt wondering why I went with another dude. Same thing happed last year with Lil Jon. I had a deal done for $27,500, their manager agreed and sent a letter of intent. Then this smaller agent told them that I had tons of money and that I'd pay $30k no problem. This fucker was just trying to put money in his pocket, beyond his agent fee. So when they tried to jack me the next day, I said, HELL NO. A deal is a deal. Tell him no deal if it's not $27,500. I also warned I had to do this deal now or I'm going with another artist line up. They waited 2 days and started to come down, maybe. I booked Naughty By Nature and DJ Green Lantern instead and paid around the same. Actually, it would been less if I didn't get screwed on the Lantern deal too. And I had Too Short. There's lot's of behind the scenes shit that goes on that people don't realize. You get fucked by agents, venues, security, sometimes sponsors if the pay too late, chat board warriors taking shots, and tons of other areas. But when the night happens and you stoke out thousands of your closest friends and business associates, it's all worth it. When people say it's the best party or event or concert they've ever been to, stuff like that, it's rewarding. That's why I can really feel for the Eroticafest. Whether or not the party is the best ever, all that matters is what the webmasters think in the end. Some people believe only what they read on the boards, some have valid reasons to be upset, some don't. But man, to take a beating over something that takes so much time and effort and good will just sucks. |
D's parties are legendary. Players Ball's are the king of parties. :)

Been trying to get him for a while, can't touch him. Maybe D10 would be more realistic. No singer in the band. I think if we can lock in some serious sponsorships early, it's Ludacris or LL, maybe 213 and less tunes. A little more money will get Snoop. Here's what 213 /Snoop/WarrenG/Nate Dogg are thinking. My agents has been in talks with their agents, I base it on that. The thing with 213 is IF they each do their solo stuff as well as 213 tunes, it's well over $100k, maybe like $200k, not sure yet until they decide. But if the artists would rather promote only 213 tunes, then it's probably cheaper then if I did Snoop solo with all of Snoop's hits. And Warren G loved our event when he was a VIP in 2003. So I hope they'd take the date for a nice affordable price. Realistically, I'm thinking the easiest way to secure the artist and sponsors now, money raised, is to do George Clinton and P-Funk. I measure it in many ways. They will take the date and sign a contract now if I want them to. The others, nothing is for sure until they decide. Which means, they could agree in theory, then decline it a month in advance. I can also throw in Ice-T and Digital Underground WITH a live band backing them up. Sounds hot, I saw them do it in SD. The thing I finally learned after 6 years or trial and errors, throw the deposits down this early and promote it now. So buy a sponsorship now if you're considering it. It helps the talent level. As of now, I figure I can safely get that line up done now and everyone would have the best time ever. |
Forget snoop... just warren g. and nate dogg, REGULATORS! i still love that track.
