sadly they dont... the whole thing is a mess... One democrat talk about being sick and tired of negative attacks while another will not hesitate to attack Bush on his record.. Edwards kinda shot himslef in the foot with his comment.. Democrats have much more to gain by attacking the republicans than vice-versa...

And then you have that bonehead Lieberman (who is pretty much in the middle of the political spectrum.. could easily be a repuclican) go on on CNN telling how the US was right to go to Iraq and how Saddam was a big threat.. He even go on to say that many democrats thinks like him...

And then you have Kerry and Edwards who voted to go to war and still have very vague position on the issue...

Agreed, KRL :thumbsup

Extremely uplifting, hopeful message, tons of enthusiasm and excitement. Going to be an election alot like when reagan beat carter; polls are useless this time around.

I agree, here is a link where you can see some of the speeches:

You gotta listen to Al Gore and Bill Clinton's speeches.

Yeh, and it pisses me off too that the Bush administration has mucked up the whole Republican image catering to the ultra right wing faction.

Dumb asses. Greed got the best of them as usual.

Nobody watches the conventions. Besides, when the republicans get to NY next month and start wrapping themselves in the American flag, nobody will remember what Kerry or Edwards said this week.

Cmon KRL.... this fuckin scared me.... "no one in America should live in poverty".

WTF is that? That smacks of communism and made me shiver. He's talking about making those who make $$$ pay for those that don't. I feel sorry for the "underpriviledged", but alot of us have worked hard to get places. My resume is a mile deep with trials and tribulations. Now I have to pay for someone else?

Please come back to the party, and realize that all are not equal, there is such a thing as "natural selection" and that Edwards words on "terror" were scripted to gain votes.

:2 cents:

hottoddy 07-28-2004 08:26 PM

Unlikely. There may be some sense of unity now, but most pundits think the Dem convention has been fairly weak so far. It looks like Dance Party USA most of the time and has received historical low ratings. The Pubs get to come in a full month closer to election time.

good pic... but yea the speeches have been great.. I hope Kerry can do a good one.

pussyluver 07-28-2004 08:28 PM

Not so fast. The polls are yet to show a bounce to the Dems favor. In fact Bush is closing in on a win already. So unless something happens........

Don't need any Bush hate talk. I didn't say I wanted Bush to win!

Nice speech, but it was just talk. Well at least Edwards can give a speach.

So let's see today we have Edwards having lunch with the mob and Bush taking anti-depressant drugs. What a wonderful country.

All the Republicans had to do was stay more close to the center and tone down the far right wing agenda ass kissing, instead they've gone all the way off center. Fucked up our image worldwide. Killed 900 young soldiers that didn't have to die had we had more countries helping us with Iraq.

The deficit is out of control. Its a disaster anyway you look at.

I can no longer support or trust these guys with the power of running our country.

Not saying Kerry is perfect. Far from it. But of the two I'd rather pay higher taxes and have a whole change of direction than the way we are going now which is down the toilet.

That's what the nobles said about the serfs in the middle ages, is that the type of society you want to go back to?

That whole natural selection line pretty well sums up your ignorance.

The bottom line is Iraq should have been taken out with the full military support of all our allies.

Instead Bush and his cronies alienated everyone and we had to do it all our selves.

900 of our precious young Americans got killed and thousands more injured and maimed when they didn't have to if we had a more balanced international force going in.

Lenny, my line about "natural selection" is right on the mark, and displays no ignorance. Have you been to Nigeria? I have... Have you been the the Dominican Republic? I Have...

Our "poverty" livers look like fucking Bill Gates compared to some of these people. This isn't about "knights and serfs". We live in a democracy, not a monarchy.

If you want to save everyone, and put everyone on equal footing go ahead. Welcome to Stalin ..... That worked well didn't it!

Tom_PMs 07-28-2004 08:37 PM

Crazy.. If people "dont watch", then why will it matter what the republicans do in NY?

Also, the polls are of likely voters. if you think this year that the same people who voted last year are all who're going to vote this year, I dont think you see how disenfranchised people are..

Also, 3 days before regan trounced carter, the polls showed them within 3 points of each other. Useless. Last election the EXIT polls were wrong. Useless.

kane 07-28-2004 08:38 PM

the dems got a bounce in the polls with the selection of edwards and will get another one after the convention. Bush will then have his convention and get a bounce in the polls. The election will be won or lost with the debates. Gore totally fucked himself during the debates and never recovered from it in key states. If Kerry can handle bush in the debates he will have a good chance.

Edwards will destroy cheney in the vice debate because he has made his living convincing people he is correct. But I still think the republicans will dump cheney and get gulliani before the election and that could give them a big boost.

The religious right VOTES, which is why the republican party caters to it. For all the bitching that goes on about the views of the extreme religious right, one thing is for certain: they vote in greater percentages than do most other groups. If we adult webmasters voted as much, the parties would listen more to us.

If you don't vote in November, you have NO FUCKING RIGHT TO BITCH, PERIOD!

polls can be useless. This election is going to come down to about 13 states where they are either even or within a couple of points of each other. If one of them wins 10 of those 13 states it will be a landslide win. While I hope Kerry wins I really hope that whoever wins also wins the popular vote.

Sure, but that's just "pie in the sky" wishful thinking. 12 rejected UN ultimatums, yet most nations had nothing to back up their words. A totally united allied coalition just wasn't going to happen

true. This is why Kerry is going hard after the young people. Clinton went after the young people and connected with them and he destoryed bush sr and a big part of it was the votes of the 18-25 group.

KRL... first, I totally respect you. And a logical debate here is a rareity!

KRL, 3200 of OUR precious moms, dads, and friends were killed in one swoop in an attack on 9-11 that not only killed Americans, totalled some of the most beautifiul buildings on the planet, and left thousands of children with one or NO parents.

Okay, so we go at it alone (which isnt true... it's a multinational force) So what? I revere our fallen soldiers with the utmost respect. I am a vet (D Storm 1) and I full well knew I could get killed. I have a friend who deploys to Iraq tomorrow... we said goodbye to him on Sunday when he flew to Pendleton. He knows....... he may not come back. BUT.... he knows if for some reason he doesnt... it was for OUR freedom.

Our military are not "conscripts" they fight because they believe in the American idea of freedom. And Saddam Hussein, kept that freedom from his people, and THREATENED the US by providing an environment that was "pro-terror". Just ask the 15,000 dead kurds who were killed by their own leader.
I'll shut up now.

That's a bad reason on which to vote! There is no guarentee that the dems wouldn't fuck us over as much. It would have been worse if Gore had won in 2000. His wife would have made us a cause.
