Making money off TGP galleries -- a retrospective
 

It is very commonplace to hear the lament that "TGP galleries don't make money" or "You're wasting your time with galleries."

While the heady days of putting together some nude pics along with a CE banner or MaxCash and making bling while you sleep are over, like any 'matured' promotions strategies, there is still $$$ to be make from TGP submissions, Link Lists, and AVS. It all depends on FINE TUNING

What are the elements that are in play when you submit:

The traffic of the place you are submitting to

The editorial policy of the places you are submitting to

The layout of your page

The content of your page

Your text

Your graphics


Combined together these may seem like an unwieldly constantly shifting forces that no one webmaster can anticipate much less control. Hence, the feeling that its all luck.

Maybe by putting a little science, along with a lot of persistence and attention to detail, we can still tease the CONVERSION genie out of the TGP/LL/AVS bottle.

One possible approach would be to experiment with the changes of the elements above:

In partciular, change each element and see if that improves your conversions.

Find particular combinations that may result in higher conversions and build on those.

One possibly instructive model for coming up with a CONVERSION FORMULA is an evolutionary approach.

Start with 1 gallery with points for each of the items above.

Monitor the results.

Change each item and in combination with other items

Notice any improvements

Keep changing and varying and building upon improvements until you hit a formula that works.

i would never submit galleries ever again, when i started in porn i tried it out for a month.

i do not do anything that doesnt involve me controlling and tampering with my own traffic.

i also dont like to wait for anyone, i like lows of traffic and for me now there would never be a point in submission, would only waste my time.

worked for me as a starter.. where the else would you find traffic ???? google...? whatever.... if you have a right guy for the right price it will be worth your buck...

well i'm the complete opposite, started out making galleries, not much success, did a paysite and affiliate program with somewhat shitty results, then i got back to galleries and i'm making around 3k+ on galleries alone monthly. so i must say galleries still work for me :)

How about not doing tutorials. If you actually DO know something, why not shut your mouth about it instead of giving your knowledge away? Make your money and do it quietly. Don't do anything to encourage the hoards of newbies joining the business every day.

Competition is good. It brings out the best in all of us. If anything, the more competition the better since it will force complacent people to innovate.

You may find me funny but I like to share my knowledge since I am always out to learn from other people. Sometimes by looking at others' implementations, I tighten my game. Its a give and take.

There is always someone smarter than you who will galdly take your money.

You need some business classes man. Competition directly benefits consumers, not business owners. Tighten your game all you want but don't help the competition tighten theirs.

You know 5 dollar, I've been dieing to know. How long have you been an adult webmaster and what is your adult webmaster background? Aside from webmasterlabor, how do/did u make your adult net money? Also, what was your nick before $5 submissions? What adult sites, besides webmasterlabor, did or do you run?
I've been curious for a little while now. Just decieded to ask in this post for some reason.

That's true, but its not always a ZERO SUM game where someone has to lose for someone to win. Sometimes, the pie does get larger.

Sometimes... but meanwhile its getting smaller and smaller and the competition is getting larger and larger.

There is no money in tgp galleries, everybody should stop making and submitting them.

Seriously though, there IS money in TGP galleries, but its not so easy that the Average Joe can come off the street and make an easy $10k a month. As said above, it takes tweeking, patience, and often times even an initial loss of money before you will get it right.

Tgp galleries are the way that a lot of newbies start and end. :2 cents:

Ive done mailers, tgp galleries, etc etc. I've been in adult since 1999-2000 and mainstream since 1996. I started my first internet company in 1996.

I don't claim to know everything, nor do I want to. I just wanted to start a dialogue.

Also, webmaster labor has been a project that's 2 years in the making. I've been lurking for a while now I'm posting :)

Everybody knows that the EASIER money is in MGPs not TGPs.

Good pointers though. Definitely will keep those in mind re maximizing click to $$$ ratio.

That's true, that's why I can't wait for the $1 MGP deal to roll out, even if it's $4 to $8 a day, I'm still game.

$5 submissions, there's one thing i don't see in your first post in the list - your sponsor. you can have a really world-class gallery and just a crappy sponsor site.

Everyone can make money with good content. Shore, knowing layouts and text is good too.

In the end I can get like 3% clicks but when I only get like 8K to my gallery- how good is that.


I really hate submitting. So how much traffic do I get with your TGP submission program? Ever tested to submit your self to see how much traffic you get from those 120 tgps?

I'm sure lots of people make good money with TGP traffic. I tried, and tried to automate as much as possible, and wasn't much good at it. In the end I found out I preferred making my own traffic sites, preferably that didn't need any day to day maintenance or 'submissions'. Christ, who wants to deal with a TGP owner ? Started a single banner exchange, a single top site, added different sites to the 'collection' over time. That worked way better for me even tho it takes time to build traffic. Less day to day work, less boring as well. Then again, some people swear by TGP galleries. Horses for courses.

True, too many TGP owners--too many differing rules.

and too many wrongs. I think I fuck-ed up once when I submitted to a major tgp. I forgot to begin with 15 snaps..

I got banned for that. If it was easy to get partners and shit-- then I had submited all day long.

Nah, I don't think submitting is for anyone, you really need to see the light far away. Because you probably need to spend some months before you see anything near K's.
