Dutchies - which bank
Ok, after 3 years my current bank, Rabobank, wont accept my checks anymore. Dont ask me why, they cant explain it so ofcourse i cant either. Im highly pissed off tho.
I need a new bank...today...one that understands the fact that checks are my income. Which one? |
ABN AMRO, my lil bro had the same problem with the Rabo a few years ago. He had to cancel his account cause they didn't want to cash his checques anymore.
|
The Rabobank won't accept your checks? :eek7
I'm using the Friesland Bank, but they pretty much suck. They charge 15 euros per check. Was thinking about switching to either the Rabobank or the Postbank myself, but apparently that choice has been narrowed down a bit... |

Whats left? Ing? |

Sometimes I get a handwritten receipt, sometimes a printed one, sometimes a signed form, sometimes they just sign the specifications... And, sometimes they send a confirmation letter, sometimes they don't, sometimes they call, sometimes the confirmation letter arrives after two months (a month after I've gotten the money), sometimes after a week... they're fucking crazy over there. |

The Rabo lately always put the money in my account within 2 days before they clear the checks because they know i never had problems in 3 years...till today...no more soup for me. Anybody any experiences with check in combination with the ING? |

Imagine going to your bank, saying your address has changed and you've already told them 4 times in the last 2 months and they REALLY need to change it, after which the girl at the counter types a bit on her computer, then says "Ok, it's been updated", and when you ask "Has it really been updated?" replies "Well... no. But it shouldn't take more than a few weeks". The only reason I'm still with them is laziness and the sheer entertainment value :glugglug |

I have fucked up stories as well. When i moved to Amsterdam i had a small Rabo office in the north of the city...to them everything was fine...they upped my credit after a while to 10.000 guilders. Then i moved to the center, new office, new rules. Within 1 week my cc was gone. Why? Because they said i didnt have any income...the 1000's from the checks was funny money to them i guess. I had to beg on my knees to get a 1k credit card for my online transactions...mofo's. |

LOL, indeed. I tried to get an account with the Amro for my online checks. They flatly refused, would only open an account if I could show them a contract from my employer.
|
Rabobank were total shite for me when I lived over there.
I ended up with ING and they were great, even got a creditcard out of them with no banking history, no other bank over there would give me one because I wasn't Dutch. But yep checks take ages to clear. Same in Spain they used to take 10-14 days now its a month, and Dollarmachine checks take 6 fucking weeks cause they're from Canada. |

A guy at the bank even asked me once if I made my money online, then mentioned that he was also going to start an internet business and put his personal email address on the confirmation letter :1orglaugh |

some of you guys have awesome banks lol aweful |
Why don't you dutchie guys get a bank account with an American bank like Bank of America? Very easy to cash US cheques at no fee and you can withdraw your cash with a VISA cheque card from every atm im the World for a 2$fee.

I like the idea tho. |

Another alternative would be to open up a US-Dollar account with American Express in your country. They usually accept US cheques and keep your balance in US. You just withdraw the money whenever the exchange rate is favourable for you. Plus they pay good interest on your balanace .... |

Point me in the right direction please. |

You might also like to look into Adam's Yellow pages. There is a good chance an American bank will have a branch in Adam .... just call them ... |
