Whats to say that if the soldiers went to give medical help to the Fedayeen guy that they themselves would not be walking into a trap?
Maybe the paramilitary Fedayeen guy had a granade and would blow himself up just to take out a couple of GI's...
Maybe the Fedayeen guy had budies around that would take a shot and any soldiers helping the fallen Paramilitary guy would be shot as well.
The video footage would be quite different and the speaking soldier would be footage of him face down in the dust cause he was stupid enough to jump out and try and save the Fedayeen Paramilitary.
I had a uncle that was a point in Vietnam, he told me alot of his stories. He always felt bad about people he killed in combat. He had more than 20 confirmed kills, but he did say that winning a fight was one of the best feelings in the world.
Even those that live to fight another day must live on with the things they had to do to survive. Thats what killed my uncle in the long run, he died of a heroine overdose when I was kid several years after his return to civilian status. I was maybe 5-6 years old when he told me his stories and I still remember them.
Leave it to news media to keep everything in perspective...

The guys standing next to the camera were not the ones shooting the guy. The sould would have been much louder that close to the camera. Also if you watch the bullets are landing from another direction. That is not saying that it was not the marines shooting, but it was not the ones next to the camera. And the guy in the interview could have been talking about anything.
