Selling my entire Comic Book Collection

I just don't read them anymore and before they collect dust I decided to sell them. The entire collection 2001 was 5k, however I am letting it go for 3500.00 obo.

All Comics are individually wrapped and sealed. I made photos of all of them in case you want to see the individual items.

Lots of Spiderman

;-))

Yeah were putting them on Ebay next but we thought were putting them on here first .... and give some comic book gfyer a first shot at it. Some of them are pretty rare if you had the time to look thru the list

Sly_RJ 11-30-2003 10:19 PM

Rictor has a couple stores. He may be interested.

MetaformX 11-30-2003 10:20 PM

ebay is the place for that. You will prolly be able to get more than you think.

- AFN - 11-30-2003 10:21 PM

And to think 1982, I ran into a VF copy of XMen #1 for $100. Back in 1982, $100 was a lot of money :(

GonePhishing 11-30-2003 10:23 PM

Nice collection man. What are you looking to pull? I see that you have a spider man #1 second print in silver there. I have the gold which was the third print. I remember that being the McFarlane torment series!

Whats the actual condition? Are they in a house of smokers? If there went 75% of their value hehehe :(

Spunky 11-30-2003 10:26 PM

Quite a collection...You should be able to make some good coin off it for sure

DarkBob 11-30-2003 10:37 PM

Right before I closed my comic book store in 98 the market was so dead I could pick up collections like this for a nickel per book, and that was just for the good stuff.

Have things gotten any better? All the guys I knew down in Florida are out of business now...

Zebra 11-30-2003 10:48 PM

DarkBob - I closed my store in 2001. It hasn't gotten much better. :(
I keep close tabs on the biz and still go to some of the bigger shows looking for signs of a recovery. You would think that with the abundance of comic book movies and video games lately that the actual comic books themselves would gain a little more interest. Unfortunately that is not the case. The glut of the early 90's put a pretty big hurt on the industry and it still shows the scars.
Hopefully sometime soon it will pick back up. I have a 10 year old son who grew up surrounded by comics and he is already bugging me to open another store so that he can have a job when he is old enough lol.

Jamdin 11-30-2003 10:53 PM

I need to clean out my comic book collection again since I need to free up some space. I usually go through them and take a boxful down to the local thrift store. I get about ten cents for each comic book but they are mostly crappy comics from the 1980s and 1990s.

That's too bad. I was a comic collector for years before I started selling them. I've got lots of good memories from my days as a store owner. I haven't kept up with the business too much though, since I moved to Vegas I started collecting casino chips, so that's pretty much my only hobby now...

Honeyslut 11-30-2003 11:42 PM

I tried selling a bit from when I had my book/comic card store and what little I sold I had to give away on ebay.

Have you tried an ad in a local paper ?

I still have about 16 long boxes sitting behind my computer desk.

Nima 11-30-2003 11:52 PM

good luck on selling them and like all others said EBAY WILL SELL THEM OFF QUICK

should be sold of much easier that way

Zebra 11-30-2003 11:54 PM

In 1999 I had over a million individual comics. Try getting rid of that! :1orglaugh

Yeah, comics died off at that time cause me and the other artists decided to split.

Too many fanboys runnin' shit and fucking up the industry. Really fucked the storeowners and fans. What happened to comics is the same thing fucking up the online porn industry... greedy half asses who stab each other in the back at the drop of a hat. Then try to corner markets and steal shit blind.

Difference is, on the web to fix things is just one pissed off programmer.

Aw shit! Lookin' at that collection no wonder you're hard up! Ain't none of me and the boys listed!

Shoulda invested in my comics when they were out. They all went up in value! Wish I had kept em' all.

Nas7782 12-01-2003 02:33 AM

Whatever happen to Dale Keown's PITT? That was a great comic with kickass art. That dude simply stop producing it. It sells quite well too.

Ya, I'm a huge collector too, but I'm keeping all of mine.

JamesK 12-01-2003 02:36 AM

wowzers. and you didnt even read em

Sarah_Jayne 12-01-2003 06:10 AM

Timewalker? Bloodshot? The Good Guys? No offense Greg, but hardly hot sellers.

I've got 4 longboxes of prime Silver Age in my closet, that is an investment. Also have a collection of original art that would make Albert Moy cry :winkwink: Sad thing is I had a better collection in the 90's and lost it all to a house fire. Luckily porn was good to me and let me rebuild my collection. Just picked up the art for the latest Annie Fanny story by my good buddy Ray Lago. Can't wait to get those pages framed. Beeyooteefull, and guaranteed to go up in value! :thumbsup

Steffie:

Unfortunately, Dark Bob is right. Most of that collection could be bought for pennies/book. Hate to be the bearer of bad news because i've got about 5,000 in my basement as well. Thing is, about 30% of mine are "Golden & Silver Age" but I still wouldn't expect much.

I still re-read mine though and i'll probably hang on to mine for future generations.

Tough finding a comic book store that's still open.

Video killed the comic book star. :(

the comic book INDUSTRY killed the comic book star

over production in the 80's and 90's of so called "collector" products rendered it all worthless

Yeah, much like the online porn industry!

LadyMischief 12-01-2003 08:48 AM

If it's a complete collection it should be worth more though, correct? I'm wondering because jact has many rare comics etc that we were thinking of selling. And my uncle has the ALL the ORIGINAL spiderman comics (including #1) in mint condition.

Puleeze, you sound like one of them fanboys who bought every #1 issue with a gold foil cover and hologam logo.

The books you listed above are a few of my books and they sold a helluva lot more when released and worth more now than those Image and Image wannabees.

Besides, I wasnt just referring to books with my name on em'. I was also referring to books with my pennames too.
