What Was Your Worst Job EVER??

My absolute worst job was a summer job between college semesters. They were looking for marketing representatives at some company. Me being the young , naive college kid wanting a job in my field replied to the ad and went in to see the boss.

It was a group interview (which should have tipped me off from the very beginning) about 20 people or so. They give us this big speel about this amazing product they have to sell and then they roll out the vacuum cleaner. HOLY FUCK! LOL!

About 1/2 the people right away got up and walked out. I was sitting there buying this guys amazing speel on how much money you can make and how easy it is to sell. So me being the retard starts working for this company selling vacuums door to door. Pretty much cold calls set up from telephone reps at the company. You get some special gift if you listen to the salesmans speel in your house about the vacuum. Oh gawd it was awful, people were nasty and I would never tell my friends or family what I was selling. LOL! I would have rather told them it was drugs! haha!

Anyways I lasted about a week and I said fuck this! I went back to work delivering pizzas in my hometown and enjoyed my summer. :)

How about you guys, what is your worst job ever?

Fuck man, you need to have some bad jobs to really appreciate what kind of easy life you have now working from home on your own terms.

I used to get up once a week around 7:30am when I first started working full time in Adult and go walk down to this restaurant where there was always traffic jams. I used to watch these poor people stuck in traffic on the way to work, and for the most part they all looked miserable. That was enough motivation to me to keep working hard and succeed. :thumbsup

Was it a Kirby vacuum?

I tried selling meat and seafood door to door that sucked pretty bad. Also was a garbage man on summer... that was kind of fun though.

Working at Six Flags doing the nasty food service. Those stupid little snack places, so fucking gross. Well, here is the rest of the story...One day, I had to do breaks for people, so each half hour I would switch stands and let people go on their breaks. Well, it was fucking hot and humid, so I was drinking plenty of water. Around 4p (I worked since 9a) I had to pee really bad, but I was at a stand with no one else and COULD NOT leave. Mind you, I have a weak bladder to begin with, it just broke. So there on the mainway strip of the amusement park, I had peed my pants. So, I am waiting for someone to come by so I can be relieved, but no one was around. So in the meantime, I am dumping beer, soda, and bleach over the pee to get rid of it. It was a bad situation...I left work and didn't return the next day.

I'd imagine you would pick up some pretty cool stuff that people would throw out. Some person's trash is another person's treasure.

Roadie.

Sure it's all glamour ...say that as you're flipping a 600lb dimmer
pack on end or coffin liftting 5' cabinets up stairs. Don't even
get me started on running 600 amp feeder lap in the rain.
Not to mention the hussle, hussle, hussle cause fans get down
right ugly if the show doesn't start to the minute on time.
All for min wage!

Jer 11-16-2003 06:51 PM

The internet saved me from having a bad job. I never had a "job". I've been in just one job interview in my life (internet startup in 1999, still online and making money), and I thank God their method of inverviewing sucked and I wasn't "approved".

beemk 11-16-2003 06:53 PM

i've liked every job i've ever worked. i'm not very picky when working, but if i dont like something about a job i wouldnt get the job.

infectd 11-16-2003 06:59 PM

I had a job crushing bricks when i was in junior high.

Haha! I actually sat through one of those vacuum salesman marketing speels so I could get my free bottle of Windex. The stupid bitch also steam-cleaned my entire living room floor!

The price dropped down from about $1500 to $500, and when they finally realized I wasn't going to buy they finally left, and the bitch took her potpourri Windex too!

worst job i had was at a metal cleaning shop. the place was always so steamy so you were soaking wet all day long. you had to pull pieces of metal out of bins of watered down acid, and well all we had to protect us from that shit was rubber gloves. first day i was there we were cleaning ski poles and that shit got into my glove and ended up with acid burns on my both my arms. still ended up working the rest of the day. i worked there for about 2 weeks and quit. it took almost 2 years for the scars on my arms to be nearly gone.

GTS Mark 11-16-2003 07:04 PM

I think my 2nd worst job was working for this car seat manufacturer. I was on the line and assembling chrysler van seats. It was sooooooo monotinous (hope I spelt that right) the repetitiveness of it all drove me NUTS!!!

I woke up one morning stapling my pillow just like I do with the car seats. That is when I realized I was not cut out for that type of work. I don't know how some of my friends do it? I guess they put their mind in another place.

The two other kickers...I was trying to get a new job the whole time I had worked there it sucked so bad, so I was able to leave after my peeing incident, I left 4 hours early cause of it and when I got home, my mom asked if I quit, my dad looks at me and goes "nope, she peed her pants." I have no idea how he knew...

The other kicker...It was the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of COLLEGE!

I used to be a garbageman. It was kinda fun for me to. I would hate doing it at my age or the shape I'm in now.

One of my stops a lady took out all of her husbands playboys from in the garage and threw them in the truck. After driving around the corner, I grabbed them from the back of the truck, cause these were playboys from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Had Bo Derek, Farah Fawcett, Marilyn Manroe and others. Still have them today. I've always wondered what the husband did when he got home and found out his wife threw out those Playboys.

security guard at a downtown shopping center (portage place) in winnipeg.

they hired me and said I was to be paid $10 - tons of hours.

started about Dec 15 after 2 days of training. New company suit. 2nd day a call came over the radio - man with gun in the parkade - 6 guards on duty - 5 ran down. I stayed up. I didn't have a gun or bullet proof vest - far as as I was concerned the crook could HAVE that car.

I didn't have a gun or bullet proof vest - far as as I was concerned the crook could HAVE that car. They gave me a lot of shit over that but didn't fire me cause the natives listened to me and I was the only guard that could handle them. All i did was have the guts to shake their hands whenever they put them out - once I did that they'd do ANYTHING for me - drunk or high - no one else would do that.

So anyway Told the company I would not work the evening of Dec 24 under any circumstances - my family's party. I'd work the 25th, 31th and the 1st though no problem. they scheduled me for the 24th and only the 24th. I quit. oh well, I lasted 2 weeks, mostly cause I spend the majority of my time flirting with the girl that ran the cookies by george booth. HEY she was cute, friendly and she gave me free cookies!

pay check came - they only paid me min wage -about $5/hour- and deducted the suit which they had me return to the company.

could have taken it to the labour board, but I had no intension of EVER working for someone else again - EVER. . that was my last job for wages . I was 20.

11 years ago........

summers of age 16 and age 18 I worked on a garbage truck - good money - work was easy - and I got 100's of free brand new pornos and other magazines from the stores - they'd tear the covers off and throw out the old issues. - one place I got 3000 old golf balls too - that was fun - shot them all into the lake.

This thread should of been, who was a garbageman?

LadyMischief 11-16-2003 07:40 PM

It was doing ad layouts for this company out west. Oh my god there were two company owners and the one was cool, but the other.. he was a nightmare. He made me stay hours overtime all the time but didn't want to pay for it, every single project he had me do I would finish it and he would change his mind and decide to change 50 million things. Oftentimes it took less time to start from scratch again than to execute his changes.. He was never happy, always cheap, and always pissy. I was very glad to tell him to shove it up his ass and walk away.

Worst job i ever had was a phone soliciting job , when i 15 , we got fired for calling people up and acting like mexicans .....trying to sell people these basketball tickets for the police department , we told people we were prisoners and that they didnt feed us in jail ect.. and we were raped by the guards , a few called and complained to the police department and it was traced back to me and friend , needless to say we got fired , but alot of people bought the tickets when we told them that are setence would be shorten if we sold so many tickets.

NiTe-HaWk 11-16-2003 08:23 PM

Hmm well I worked for Kirby for about a week. I sold one to my parents. I don't think that was my worst job though.

My worst job was working at a hardware store. I had to put together grills all day or stock nuts and bolts :(

The other job that is close to the worst job is the one I have right now. I work at a gas station. I hate this job more then anything but I got to pay the rent. I can't wait till I can get out of there.
