the scariest movie ever made

i'm so stoaked on the director's cut of alien!! i haven't seen alien on a big screen since it first came out! I was 7 years old and it scared the living shit out of me and i loved it! :thumbsup never been so scared at a movie since.

Mr Pheer 09-22-2003 03:27 PM

Is it coming out on DVD? I have a 100inch screen here at the house....

Penrod 09-22-2003 03:28 PM

eventually im sure! it's being re-released for big screen this halloween!

saw the trailer last night at underworld (decent flick in itself. though when the guy mutated into the half werewolf/vampire form i thought he looked really lame. like a partly mutated incredible hulk from the tv-show. anti-climatic)

are you serious? I saw the directors cut preview in the movie theater last night, it was not the least bit scary and looked pretty fake. :2 cents:

The Ring freaked me out...still does...seen it 3 times now and still....

Signs was creepy, but not scary

Dirty F 09-22-2003 04:07 PM

The exorcist and other old movies with ghosts in it.

Not one movie made in the last 10 years scared me.

tootie 09-22-2003 04:08 PM

Oh yeah, The Ring was good. It didn't really scare me, but it was a creepy movie, for sure.

LOL that whole scene in that Dudley Moore flick cracked me up.

Yeah "The Ring" kept me awake for weeks!! It really freaked me out... I started watching "Darkness Falls", remembered The Ring and got too weirded out 10 minutes into it :(

Signs was pretty creepy, esp the part with the b-day party and the alien walks by. Thought it was a crappy ending though.

We just rented What Lies Beneath with Harrison Ford, now that movie scared the shit outta me! Make matters worse is that my husband already saw the movie and would jab me in the side at the scary parts.

pamphage 09-22-2003 06:34 PM

Did you guys see Ringu (the jap original) too? I thought the girl was creepier in the original, though overall I hate to admit I actually liked the remake a little better. (i never usually like the american remakes better). The pacing was better in the remake and had more creepy stuff thrown in. Ringu seemed all about the big "payoff" scene in the end where she comes out of the well. Though admittedly I thought that scene was even freakier than in the remake.

I saw both versions and like you I prefer the american version.

Burnt Offerings starring Betty Davis. I saw it when I was about 8 years old. Fucked-Me-Up! It was about a house that was possessed and the ppl that rent it for the summer start feeling it's possession so to speak (ROFL). If any of you can get your hands on this classic, (it was prolly done in 76) please do!:) :thumbsup

Carrie to me is the most terrifying and funny at the same time. "Plug it up. Plug it up"

Another while I'm on a roll and shit! Dolls A total B Movie but diggity damn that shit scares me to this day.

Abyss_Vee 09-22-2003 10:08 PM

House on haunted hill was pretty freakyy

Zebra 09-22-2003 10:20 PM

This version of Alien has a few scenes restored that were left out of the theatrical release due to time concerns. A few of the deleted scenes were included in the bonus section of the Alien DVD that has been out for a few years. This version of Alien has those scenes plus several others that were not on the DVD added back into the movie for the first time. They also cleaned up the print alot (it is over 20 years old) and remastered the audio.

I've had the DVD for years (and the laserdisc way before that) but I'll be watching this in the theaters on Halloween after the kid is asleep (and my pockets are stuffed with "borrowed" candy :1orglaugh ).

Dude I love this movie. Me and my best-friend put it on at like 12:00PM when we were 9 or 10, and we were scared the fuck out! But after that movie, I could honestly say, I haven't been scared of any other move! But then again, all I would watch was horror movies. My mom had a shit load of B rated ones, and they fucking weird ones. But I like because I could scare the shit outta the other people :)

I saw the trailer for it tonight at Underworld. I wonder how this special edition director's cut is different from the one I own.

MattK 09-22-2003 10:25 PM

Exorcist fucked me up when I was young, I still don't like to watch it now. Signs was also kinda scary.

Fatal Attraction was scary. The night after I saw it I was driving down a lonely road in the country and got freaked out when a woman that sorta looked like Glenn Close was walking down the road by herself.

jscott 09-22-2003 10:56 PM

the shining is pretty creepy (referring to the old one with jack nichalos)

heheh actually after just seeing the previews for Amityville Horror I did not want to see the movie, I'm positive it would have scared me silly. I think I had nightmares just from the previews. Stupid shit like the slee-stacks from Land of the Lost used to scare me too. :helpme

The religious aspect of the exorcist was scarier for me since I grew up in a conservative (i.e., too religious) community.

another 'good mention' should be

Ravenous

not for 'scarey' factor but rather for the 'disturbing' factor ;)

Madball 09-23-2003 12:46 AM

I really liked NIGHTSHIFT. The original is Danish and really awesome & creepy.

http://www.thura.dk/nightwatch/nightwatch.jpg

There's a Hollywood remake w/ Ewan McGregor and Nick Nolte which I didn't like as much.

Two scariest movies of all time: Dawn of the Dead & Frankenstein 1931.
