it's pretty close to communism when it comes to regulations on running a business.

Dirty F 09-09-2003 10:23 AM

Taxes are high, that's true, but next 2 that you probably will never have any problems with the law about content or anything!

Where do you live?

jojojo 09-09-2003 11:36 AM

Holland will be under water very soon.

I watched 'Frontiers of Construction' last night on discovery channle - 2/3 of the country will be covered in water in the near future unless this big construction plan saves you. :helpme

The name BV is to Holland what an LLC is to the US as NV is to Holland what Inc. is to the US.

So, you look like a Dutch company.

2/3rds of the country is below the sea level already.

I think he is referring to mandatory Unions and the like. Holland is socialism. Don't deny it. One of your political parties is called the Socialists!

That said, I love the country and I would jump at the chance to move back to Amsterdam.

shima 09-09-2003 11:39 AM

Wonderful country with wonderful freedom :)
Weed - legalised, streetrace - legalised, whores - legalised.. Shit everything is legalised and you don't want to do anything illegal :) Because nothing is illegal. :glugglug

So what is wrong with that? When you build it right, you are safe....

As far if I like it, Holland is great, is it the best country? Don't know, haven't visited all countries in the world, and the grass is always greener on the otherside...But the 22 years I have spend here were nice :)

Only bad part I can mention are all those rules on companies, and high taxes...But oh well, can live with that.

Forgot to mention that i HATE the high prices of cars here...

I mean when we buy a Ford Focus 1.6, you can buy for that same amount a nice Audi TT quatro

Theres a cheaper and equally liberal alternative - Belgium !

Less than 2 hrs by car from Paris and Amsterdam.

I am ofcourse biased

zip 09-09-2003 01:13 PM

holland sucks balls

SGS 09-09-2003 01:15 PM

Love Holland but hate the tax. :thumbsup

But really easy to set your company up in the UK and pay a lot less while still living in Holland.

Both Holland and Belgium are nice places to visit but I wouldn't want to live in either place - too flat.:)

Resolute 09-09-2003 02:08 PM

Great Place Cute Bois !!

What are the laws there for shooting content ? Age of consent etc:)

FreeOnes 09-09-2003 02:14 PM

Too high taxes, to pay for all the lazy fuckers in this country.
No mountains to snowboard.
Too liberal drugs policy. I get crazy of it when I'm abroad.
Too many people and traffic-jams

For some reason it's still ok and I'm always happy when I come back from a trip :thumbsup

I absolutely love Holland, it's perfect! And I do mean that. I visited there June of 2001 and had the time of my life, I was in Amsterdam by the way. A friend of mine lived there, and I've never had as much fun as I had there. The people are absolutely friendly. I rode a bike everywhere, went to the market and bought fresh fish and bread, not like our bread, but actual bread right out of the oven. I also fell on my bike a few times, Im clumsy. There are all cultures in one place so it's very diverse. I smoked some very fine pot, daily. I had a blast. The guys are hot as hell! The girls are magnificent looking. I had whiplash by the time I went home. Nick I tell you I'm thinking about making a mandatory visit real soon so you guys be prepared. :)

Nope, BV short for BikiniVoyeur

But I know what you mean, I have an export business and my largest customer is in the Nederlands, in Aalsmeer. I used to go every year up until 9/11.

But I was referring to taxes and regulations on starting a new company, they even limit you how many days you can stay open, hell even building a house is a nightmare from what my friends tell me that live there.

But I still like it for a week at a time. I don't know how I could handle living there permanently though. I'd try it, but I would probably lose or piss off my customers.

The socialist party is a tiny-ass party! They only have 9 seats in parliament (out of 150).

Although taxes are high, regulations really aren't that bad. If you are the sole owner of your business, you can start an "eenmanszaak", which only requires a short registration with the chamber of commerce and semi-formal book-keeping. Restrictions on staying open only apply to physical stores, but depending on the city you live in, those can be pretty easy to get around.

Seb From Holland 09-09-2003 04:26 PM

It's the worst country I ever lived in.

Seb.

(and I've only lived in one so far.)

The perfect thing about this country is:

- Parties every single day ( all nearby as It's a small country )
- Alcohol prices in clubs are acceptable
- Probably the most beautifull girls in Europe
- Friendly people all around

Internext should organize an Amsterdam show... what do you guys think about that?
