got hit by a truck
 

On wednesday night, I was cruising down the strip on my new bike. I pulled up to a traffic light on the corner of Las Vegas blvd & Saharra, got in the left turn lane, and was sitting there waiting on the light to change. Then this fucking ASSHOLE in a big u-haul truck comes thru the intersection at 40mph, and hit me head on. He knocked me and my 700pound bike about 20 feet. My left leg is broke in several places right at the knee and requires a bone graft, steel plates and screws, to be done next wednesday because it is too swollen to operate on right now.

And while I'm laying in the road screaming in pain, the fucker does a u-turn, pulls up next to me and asked someone, is that guy ok? They said no, you hurt him real bad... and the fucker drove off!!! And the LVPD says they cant tell me if they caught him or not until next week sometime.

My brand new bike is totaled, my helmet is busted, leg is broke, and I'm sure the only reason my arm and back arent broke is because I was wearing a new Joe Rocket riding jacket with body armor built in.

My doc says after surgery, expect to be in a wheel chair for THREE MONTHS and then months of physical therapy afterwards. I cant even get up the stairs to my office, so I'm using my wife's computer in the living room.

I hired an attorney out of california that does nothing but motorcycle accidents with injuries. If that guy was caught, he is going to prison, because hit & run with injuries is a felony, and then we are going to see how deep U-Haul's pockets are for fucking up my life for at least the next 6 months or more.

Sorry for the long post but I'm in alot of pain, and pissed off beyond belief... and have absolutley nothing else to do now except sit at this computer :(

I guess I'll be getting alot more work done now

yeah, my new bike... only had 220 miles on it, and paid cash for it... its insured though

i dont know how bad the damage is, the towing company is brining it to my house this evening

Oh man dude, that sucks ass!!! I live in Vegas too, and the fuckers around here drive like they got licensed by a damn blind, def, mute person. Shit, every day out here I ALWAYS see close calls, or even accidents. Shit a couple of months ago a teen ran a red light in a big ass new saburban and slammed into an old man in a little ass Saturn type of car. The man was thrown through his back window and died in the street. That was on Hualapi(spelling) and Alta. They still have the road paint where it says "body final rest" in bright blue. The drivers out here suck ass like there's no tomorrow.

Yup and i bet they have some serious coverage too. I know on my insurance if someone gets injured they will pay up to 300k so im sure a big co like U-haul will have alot more than that.

yeah someone got the plate number, and someone followed him... but the police wont give me any details until their Hit & Run department gets thier final report next week. The good thing is, there were alot of witnesses

Yah, Vegas drivers are awful. I've been fairly lucky and never been in an accident... but I've been witness to 5... thats like one a year since I started driving.

Maybe I'm just a shit magnet, but I am getting pretty tired to talking to the police about someone elses fuck up!

MrPheer, we are in the same boat , sort of..... mine happened about a month ago spent 5 days in the hosp 6 broken ribs 2 fractured ankles , just came from the Doctor they will probably have to put screws in :( I can Feel your pain . I know its hard, but keep your spirits up ! All the best Julius

MrPheer, do you have a helmet law in Nevada? Just curious. In California we have had one for quite a while. I see car drivers go out of their way to make life dangerous for motorcycle owners. I chased down a car that deliberately hit the side of a bike and drove away. The idiot is now in jail. It's not fun being on a bike if you have to deal with "bike haters!"

yeah we have helmet laws here, but i'd wear one even if we didnt

looks like my helmet took a hard hit to the front, i'd hate to see what my head would look like if i wasnt wearing it

Find Larry H. Parker - I think he is in LA - he got some dude 2.1 million bucks. Almost same case as yours if I am not mistaken.

But anybody in Southern Cali should know the catchphrase "Larry H Parker got me 2.1 million" it was on TV for years, lol.

too many friends lost to bikes, they are just bad news imho.
