We bought one of these today.....

I am a Chev guy, but this is a sweet truck:

http://www.ltsportcover.com/images/explorer1.jpg

$39,630

Bought it. Spur of the moment. Curse fucking car salesmen. Same truck, same color without the graphics on the side. G/f and her chick friends are driving around town with it now. A nice addition to our family of vehicles. Test drove a Ford Mustang GT, too. Needed a winter beater. That car was such a turd. I am now into the Ford family now. They did a nice job on the Sport trac. No competiton, really. Looked at Muranos, but we wanted something with a box on it.

Flame away haters, !!. :321GFY

Fix Or Repair Daily ????

John3 07-24-2003 11:59 PM

I went from a Bronco II to an Explorer to an Expedition. Ever since the Explorer I've been sold on Ford Trucks.

For a car though, I'll take my Lexus :thumbsup

Hahaha...yeah. It has a kick assed warranty, though. Read the fine print before we signed the papers. :)
We own GM, and before we bought this truck researched warranties etc. for months. Ford seems to have a very customer oriented warranty. Still a Chev fan, though. Leaned towards an Avalanche, but wanted a smaller truck. Ford pulled through.

BigFrog 07-25-2003 12:09 AM

i will never own a ford truck.

chevy all the way :thumbsup

This Sport Trac rides surprisingly nice. No rattles, firm handling. We were shopping for a Munaro, an Avalanche, a Dakota and Ford won easily. They know their trucks. Go figure we were pricing out a lightning a month or so ago, but according to my G/F it had to be 4wd. Grrr........If I was single I would have a Lightning in my garage right about now.... :1orglaugh

Yup, we were looking at Chev's. Actually, we were scoping a black Chevy SS truck at Westgate Chevrolet a few weeks ago. But the chicklet wanted a 4x4. We have some nasty weather here in the winter...I understand her point. 4x4 is mandatory here. Or at least AWD. She wanted a truck between a Dodge Dakota 4x4, and a Nissan Munaro. The Sport Trac seemed to fit her liking.

Either or, if you are a true car enthusiast, you can find the good in all brand names. :)

Yeah, I thought it was ugly too when she first said she wanted one. But once we checked it out close up, and drove it, we were sold. Coming from peeps that own nice cars! :)

We wanted to buy Chevy, but the only option for our needs was the Avalanche, but it is too big for what we would use it for...tooling around the city, the odd camping trip. Unfortunately chevy does not build a truck comparable to the Sport Trac. THEY ARE! But it is not due until fall. :)

Horny Dude 07-25-2003 12:18 AM

:thumbsup Cool truck all the way! A buddy of mine has an older version that still kicks ass. Never had a problem with it that I know about it. Plus they look really cool lifted with some mudders on them.

Enjoy the ride once your girl gets back!:glugglug

Good Choice on the SportTrac p00p!

Since my friend introduced me to them, the SportTrac has grown on me, and there's no other trucks in the same class that look as nice.

If I had to choose between shit ass domestics I'm a GM/Chevy guy.

The YukonXL Denali is my favorite truck to drive around Miami/FortLauderdale but it does become overbearing at times...so I jump into the 400hp TurboCharged Civic for quick interludes. (when the engine isn't in pieces)

Since I know your dying to Hook it up already...Here's some examples you can follow...

Sweet, dude! Our truck is the blue one with the factory rims! They are nice trucks, we looked at many. My choice would have been a Murano, but we wanted a box. Already have an SUV. Nice pics, and thanks! When the chicklet gets back I will show her the pics. After all, it is HER truck she paid the fucker off on the spot with an envlope of cash. :1orglaugh

Hahah...this truck kicks ass, no matter what the haters say. I could have bought a Lightning, a Dakota, a Durango, a Chevy SS etc. etc.
Money was not the issue. Practicality was. And we chose this truck. It looks nice, rides like a dream, tight as hell! I was surprised. Kudos to Ford. They have come a long way since the first Mustang GT I owned. (1993)

Nice truck -- but is the bed really 36" long, or less? Can you actually carry plywood or groceries or anything in it? I'm not trying to be facetious or negative, it just looks like it wouldn't be all that functional. Or maybe the pics make it look smaller than it is.

Cheers

No offence taken, dude! We own an SUV, but bought the truck because of the looks, and the fact it is an SUV with a box. The box we never measured. But it really isn't that big. From what I remember (we just bought it today, keep in mind) I would rougly measure it about 5 feet long, and 3-4 feet wide. Which is useless for a truck but suits our needs. I could measure it one my chick gets back with it, but that will be tomorrow, and the novelty will wear off by then.....But the box isn't all that big. Enough for a load of dirt or bricks, but not a big one. :2 cents:

Sorry to double post.......
We could carry plywood in there. NP.
Groceries we already did today. Easily,it is a 4 door. And there is enough room in the box to carry probably 30-40 bags of groceries.
It is functional to US, we don't have kids either, though. :2 cents:

Thanks, dude! It is in fact my g/f car/truck/suv. we went to a dealer the other day, and she bought it on the spot. Won't tell how much cash down but it made the finance guy say "are you serious?"
Nice truck, I hope it is reliable. We have had good luck with GM, hope Ford can stand up to the plate with this one......

I owned a Ford Ranger for over 10 years, and then sold it for above high blue book. That truck buried many a friends' Chevy. You can get lemons from any manufacturor.

I agree. Always have. If you buy a Porche, a Corvette, a Viper, a Cobra....they all have their good points and their bad. Buy what you want, and be proud.....:2 cents:
