Recurring billing is abolished

oh great prophet, what will come after these processors?

jeroman 07-18-2003 05:50 AM

That's my limit.
Past 6 months 0.75% with ccbill but I'm from europe and
it's still 2.5% there :-))

It will be 1% chargeback ratio soon for US then
the account holder has 6 months on him to fix
so it will be lower. Thats not so hard.

Where did you get the 0,5% from ?????????

Itīs pretty obvious that VISA does not want to have anything to do with the awful adult webmasters. They want us to build shopping sites where people can buy lollipops and barbie dolls.

We need something new here, like mobile phone billing ?

Carrie 07-18-2003 07:04 AM

SMS billing is the shit - they've got it all over the place in Europe. You can even use it to get a can of soda out of a soda machine!
But do the idiots in the US approve this and let us use it? Noooo... arrghh.

Why not just ban adult sites transactions then like AMEX?

ELFugo 07-18-2003 07:17 AM

Mobile phone billing works quite good in poland. It's more easily to send sms than to pay with the credit card.
And, i know that poland is a completely different market.

Hey Resolute

One of two things I need to say here. Either:

1) You have been downing a few too many cocktails, and you thought this was a good way to get your sig noticed, or

2) You have received information from someone you trust, but havent bothered confirming the info with people like me first.

If this is a fact (and that is a big "IF" at this stage), then I havent heard about it from my many sources.

So, b4 this thread gets out of hand, would you mind giving me a buzz sometime so I can start cross referencing your info.

I too have been sitting on some mighty info, but b4 scaring the bejesus out of everyone I try to get multiple confirmations first.

And on that point, every time I have received any billing info, I have always called you to advise you. So to be honest, I am not sure what is happening here?

And to add much more to all of that, you know I have a copy of the latest VisaNet regulalations that are coming into force on October 1, and there is no mention of chargeback rates going this low

Mate - all I am saying is that your post is very confusing, and midly unsettling. Not for what you are saying, but in how you are saying it.

Centurion 07-18-2003 08:57 AM

No need to do that. Netbilling set's up the merchant account, does the scrubbing, and the customer service too.

Because with Visa and MC there are a lot more hands in the cookie jar than with AMEX.
With AMEX there are no banks involved, it's AMEX itself that pays you for what the cardholer charges and then collects from the cardholder.

If I'm not mistaken Discover operates pretty much the same way.

Thanks for you considered and detailed response. I wouldn't expect anything less from you - "Evil" Dan.

My response to your points follow -

I don't drink.

I really not at liberty to say anymore, for now. I mealy asked the question, to see if anyone else had been privy to this info and in an attempt to double confirm same. If they did via ICQ/e mail I then planned to discuss further with a couple of people, including yourself, prior to making a statement.

In the rapidly changing environment we now operate, opportunities are lost by the time you obtained Iron Clad confirmations from various sources on any particular issue. Again I draw you attention to the nature of the post - Question not Statement.

The latest tightening up of regs by Visa may just be a prelude to further tightening. That is once they have softened us up to 1% why not make it .75 or .50 of 1%- if they can get away with it ?
They seem to be doing this just fine without any significant problems. Like the old saying " Give them an inch and they will take a mile" They would not announce a lower percentage rate till they get everyone to below 1%. One step at a time. .in a very surgical plan.

I am sorry if you find my post "mildly upsetting" by to be forewarned is to be forearmed! By raising the question and to engender discussion on same is better than lying down and passively - "Taking It"

.....again it was just a question !

You're still my (Straight-ish) Aussie Mate "Evil" Dan. As I'm sure you are to many, wise webmasters that are part of Hard Profits.

Hey Resolute

So I can just confirm for all the folks out there in never never land, that you are putting up thoughts and not facts rearding the reduction of the 1% chargeback rate - correct?

BTW - If you every need the inside run on what is happening in Billing, you know you can always ask me 1st. When have I ever not given you my time to shed light on the vast array of billing issues confronting us?

Dont get me wrong mate, I am not mad at you - just concerned that you would post something like that. You see I have taken a second and third look at your original post on this thread, and it really reads like a statement, not a question

Anyways, back to being Evil
