It's win/win for me again...he is such a train wreck but on the other hand the red hat butthurt would be glorious...it's like picking between a BMW and an Audi...you just can't loose...

I think him resigning is more likely than impeachment. Will he do it within the year? I doubt it. I think the only way he would resign is if his base starts to turn on him. I can think of a few things that could cause that.

1. One or more of the investigations turn up a smoking gun that makes Trump look very bad. These special investigations have a way of taking on a life of their own. Let's not forget, Ken Starr was put in charge of investigating the Whitewater deal with the Clintons and it ended with them investigating Bill covering up his affair with Monica. If there ends up being something really damning out there, the base could desert Trump.

2. The midterm elections go badly for the Republicans. It will be very hard for the Democrats to win back the Senate in 2018, but the House may be in play. If they take back the House or get lucky and get the Senate or get very lucky and get both back, I could see Trump getting so frustrated with them shutting him down that he resigns.

I don't think he will just resign in disgust. I think he would do it under the guise of "health issues" or something involving family.

Trump's ego won't let him quit so his 71 year old morbidly obese body will have to give out... and then we get the idiot closet case Pence. Trump is so erratic that nothing is impossible. It's a shame the corrupt electoral college didn't protect us from Trump.

No, I don't think he will resign. He is on a mission to fulfill his campaign promises. He isn't a politician. Once he takes out the resistance trash he will really get rockin.

There's something you should know. Donald Trump only promises whatever he thinks will get him through the next 10 seconds. A promise from him is like me promising I'll lift my car and do overhead presses for reps.

It will be just like Nixon. tRump will be impeached, but will resign rather than be fired.

Nixon was not impeached; he resigned before they had a chance.

In retrospect, he probably could have survived impeachment Ala Clinton.

The point will come where resignation will be the only "win" left.

He would not allow himself to be impeached.

Hard to say how it will pan out - but there will be a point where the GOP has to turn on him to save itself.

You have to consider that those conversations are already taking place at the top of the Republican party.

And considering his recent tweets regarding pardons, the Orange Baboon is either a) thinking through the possible outcomes, or b) his lawyers and advisers have been talking him through the possible outcomes of his family members and staff opening colluding with the country that has been America's foe for the last 70 years.

While we tend to believe Nixon and Clinton were similar, they are vastly different. Thinking Nixon would have survived an impeachment is pushing things. Nixon was involved in criminal activity, Clinton lied under oath about a blow job that had nothing to do with the Whitewater investigation.

His ego and pride won't let him. He "might" come up with a reason of health or something to not run again in 2020, but even that I think is unlikely. He loves the rallies so much, that running is his favorite part of it all.

He won't resign or be impeached. Now, he might not be re-elected, but he won't resign or be removed through impeachment.

Worst case for him is a democrat "wave" and they gain 50 seats and he is a lame duck and they start impeachment but it doesn't make it through senate, then he is defeated or doesn't run in 2020.

Best case for him in my opinion Repubs keep the house and he is re-elected.
