Revoke Michael Moore's Oscar! Here's how.

Michael Moore, the anti-gun film maker who recently won an Academy Award for
his film Bowling for Columbine, is now the target of an online effort that
seeks to have his Oscar® revoked. RevoketheOscar.com (click on link below)
includes information on how to contact the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts
and Sciences, which awarded the prize, and offers guidance on how to
effectively communicate the message that Moore`s award should be rescinded.
The general argument that Moore`s movie should never have been nominated,
much less given the award, because it doesn`t qualify as a documentary under
the Academy`s own rules is supported both on the site, and via links to
numerous articles about Moore`s movie.

Don't people have anything better to do?

Who fucking cares about Michael Moore's Oscar. The Academy Awards are a farce anyway.

Mr.Fiction 04-20-2003 02:22 AM

I looked at the site.

What a bunch of fucking whiners.

You can pick any documentary ever made and make the same arguments they try to make about Moore.

The more they whine about Moore, though, the more books and movies he sells. He probably loves it. :)

BritishTwinks 04-20-2003 02:22 AM

I've not seen the film but his book Stupid White Men was very good.

TheJimmy 04-20-2003 02:27 AM

I think he is a straight up piece of shit, and quite the ignorant moronic fuckwit....

however, I STRONGLY support his right to be an asshole and speak his mind, however it may come off as....

:thumbsup

hell, as and afterthought my ass was willing to give my life in the defense of fuckwits like that for 12+ years.... I shock even myself at times...

JOH 04-20-2003 02:29 AM

His next film will be in New York, let them take care of the dipweed!!

He has his award but he lost so much more!

i'm looking forward to his next film.

TheJimmy 04-20-2003 02:38 AM

We are a great country because of people like him and our ability to allow and promote such expression....

don't think it'd be great to not have people like him...

that'd just be succumbing to more of 1984 that Bush/A.s.h.c.r.o.f.t. totalitarianism are already forcing on us....

LOL! That was one of the few films I never watched the end of - a complete pile of crap.

Moore may be an ass but 'Bowling' was well done - just because he points out some uncomfortable (lies, damn lies &)statistics doesn't make him a bad man :)

Theo 04-20-2003 07:23 AM

same people that report sites at google, because their own spots suck ass.

Actually, there is - just not for the reason the website is reporting. Michael Moore has admitted that many parts of his "documentary" were staged, planned, falsified, etc. IOW, it's NOT a documentary. He won the award for a documentary.

Since he won the best documentary for this movie, I feel there should be a retroactive Best Documentary Oscar awarded to "This is Spinal Tap". :1orglaugh

Sarah_Jayne 04-20-2003 08:36 AM

people need to get over it...not like there is a dangling chad involved here

tony286 04-20-2003 08:39 AM

I cant believe when adult webmasters support right wing bullshit. Michael Moore is very successful and he got away with slaming the President and wasnt made a outcast (aka Dixie chicks) So now they have to come after him and just because someone writes a article why are we so quick to embrace it as real. I saw the movie, I am not extreme left by far. He had some very valid points about our culture and others. How one of those articles could be a opt in from the WSJ against the idea its people who kill not guns. When years ago in the same paper there was a editoral on a little town in Swizterland, that has more guns per capita than anywhere in the world. They have a big shooting fesitval , where men, women and children as young as 11 are carrying guns and shooting in this festival. They have no gun crime in this town. Keep jumping on these right wing bandwagons and when they turn to us, I hope you have another skill or its back to Mickyd's. lol

Sounds like CNN's news.

btw I fully support everything he said...maybe the rest if you need to open your eyes.

It's been proven that most of the "sensational" parts of that movie were staged. It makes me lose all respect for him. I went from appreciating his work to despising him in less than 2 seconds after reading about how he staged most of "Bowling for Columbine".

ppk 04-20-2003 09:10 AM

Why waste your time trying to revoke his Oscar when you could be doing more productive things?

I couldn't care less if he loses his Oscar or keeps it. I just don't understand why people would go through so much effort :)

Sarah_Jayne 04-20-2003 09:20 AM

exactly how much do you know about the other films nominated to tell me nothing in them was staged or not a single retake was done, etc?

Steve 04-20-2003 09:55 AM

I don't like what Moore said at the Awards, and I really don't think he needed to make his own personal views public record at an industry event (like anyone would have thought he'd be pro-Bush, anyway) - but he won the award, and thats that.

So he is anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-establishment. Big deal. Lot's of Americans are. No need for a witch hunt. If you hate his guts, don't give him any press.

"Michael Moore is using sophisticated wave-form analysis technology to argue that CNN amplified the booing in its re-broadcast of his George Bush-bashing Oscar speech. According to a posting on Moore's Web site, "CNN and CNN Headline News aired a significantly different audio response to Moore's speech than was originally broadcast on ABC. It seems that someone has manipulated the audio to give the impression there was constant loud 'booing' throughout Moore's speech, when in reality, there was only marginal booing often overridden with cheers and applause. This needs to be fully investigated . . . ere we have a clear and shocking example of unethical behavior through manipulation of an historic event." Moore has posted a digitized version of the ABC and CNN footage along with MP3s of the audio, as well as a wave form analysis of both clips. A CNN rep snorts, "It's ridiculous. That's our response."

That would be as outrageous as, say, TIME magazine altering a photo of OJ SImpson to make him appear as a much darker black man. Hogwash!

Yup...you sure know everything. Although the stats are right from his site with his own slant it certainly disproves your point.

Well, take a look at my Oscar "backlash":

-- On the day after I criticized Bush and the war at the Academy Awards, attendance at "Bowling for Columbine" in theaters around the country went up 110% (source: Daily Variety/BoxOfficeMojo.com). The following weekend, the box office gross was up a whopping 73% (Variety). It is now the longest-running consecutive commercial release in America, 26 weeks in a row and still thriving. The number of theaters showing the film since the Oscars has INCREASED, and it has now bested the previous box office record for a documentary by nearly 300%.

-- Yesterday (April 6), "Stupid White Men" shot back to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. This is my book's 50th week on the list, 8 of them at number one, and this marks its fourth return to the top position, something that virtually never happens.

-- In the week after the Oscars, my website was getting 10-20 million hits A DAY (one day we even got more hits than the White House!). The mail has been overwhelmingly positive and supportive (and the hate mail has been hilarious!).

-- In the two days following the Oscars, more people pre-ordered the video for "Bowling for Columbine" on Amazon.com than the video for the Oscar winner for Best Picture, "Chicago."

-- In the past week, I have obtained funding for my next documentary, and I have been offered a slot back on television to do an updated version of "TV Nation"/ "The Awful Truth."

rooster 04-20-2003 10:19 AM

lol, your such a sheep.

And my website got 100 million hits the day after I called mrpopup a leftist tool. Its true !

All these stats certainly prove that nobody pays attention to him.

Even if parts of his movie were dramatized, his message is important and needs to be said.

I would give him his Oscar AND a firm pat on the back.

still when the last documentry you have seen was 'I am joe's liver' in 8th grade I guess debating the finer details of the nominations is only natural.
