The US acting as "World Police" is not a long history, matter of fact it is a very short one, for the vast majority of the life of this country we were staunch isolationists. That policy lasted up to WWII and even then many thought we should stay out of it.

From there to now corporate influence has had far more to do with our role on the world stage than anything else.

And as if the bombing wasn't enough, how about the concentration camps built within the US to house US citizens who happened to be of Japanese descent. The Feds took away their homes, businesses, property and put them in fucking concentration camps (please, someone start the argument that they were "interment" camps and all done in the name of security). And many were US CITIZENS!!!
