Can you go a weekend without going out or drinking?

Every weekend I decide I'm going to stay in and chill and sure enough I end up drinking somewhere or at a bar.

Do people really just stay home for the weekends?

Sly 10-11-2014 11:26 AM

Sure. Find something better to do with your time. Get a hobby.

sarettah 10-11-2014 11:30 AM

It has been ages since I have gone out on a weekend and longer yet that I have been in a bar.

.

SilentKnight 10-11-2014 11:30 AM

I was like that in my younger days. Out at the bars every night, even during the work week. Coma drinking. Rinse...repeat.

It gets old.

Lots of good times and great memories, though. If I could remember them, I'd write a book.

420 10-11-2014 11:33 AM

I get drunk at home and go on gfy to bullshit with the other degenerates. Much more fun in my opinion.

Exactly, what a waste of money too. At least $100 a night.

I just feel life life is moving around me when I'm home on a weekend night.

Weird I guess.

Why go out when you can spend quality time here with CurrentlySober?

Can you be an alcoholic but only drink once a week?

I think at most it's compulsive

Anybody that feels compelled to drink, whether it be every day between 4 to5pm, or every weekend, or every 4th of fucking July during leap year, is an alcoholic. Especially when the recognize it, openly.

It has some sort of control over their overall thought process. They admit it. Sorry to burst your bubble.

You're probably a drunk too. :2 cents:

I actually stay in more than go out. I have a son to play with so we get wrapped up in all sorts of stuff. When we do go out its like to take him skate boarding or to the movies or Skyzone or fishing.

Been shootin' pool since I was four...just old enough to see over the table.

Many of the bars I regularly hung out in had pool tables - even after enough drink to sink the Bismarck, usually I staggered home with more bank than I went with.

But I vaguely recall a few epic fails. :1orglaugh

I learned pool in the Navy, still have my pool cue, it's got to be over 50 years old! It was old when I was given it as a present!

mineistaken 10-11-2014 12:52 PM

Of course. You must be having issues if you "can't".

Spunky 10-11-2014 01:06 PM

We have a drink most days or nights. Both Gary & I can go without drinking or thinking about a drink, but then one of us mentions a beer or a glass of wine, then that's it. 2 peas in a pod, living in harmony :1orglaugh

It's not a bad thing, especially when you're out communicating with the real world, enjoying some tapas & enjoying a beer, it's socializing. Unless it's 2 or 3 in the morning, deciding to go to the bar, then it's just enjoying a party :winkwink:

I am forty-six years old, married, and have a teenager. Our big night out was the high school football game, homecoming, and tonight we are attending a small, local concert for some teenage heartthrob my kid likes. Sunday afternoon watching the 40er game on TV. Somewhere between these events I am doing bike rides, ten to twenty miles each.

Bars? lol. Who has time for that?

American Psycho 10-11-2014 01:55 PM

Was out last night at a trap edm show and it was awesome.
Im sure the kurmudgeons are like wtf is trap edm. Youtube it im sure you will hate it.lol

young crowd , hot chicks ,a few beers and good music.

Def dont go put as much anymore but
If thats what you enjoy then thats what you enjoy.
dont get guilted into not enjoying yourself.

But if u camt maintain ur income, life ,family then yea ur a drunk lol.

OldJeff 10-11-2014 01:56 PM

I've gone 18 years, so I am thinking.....yes

BlackCrayon 10-11-2014 01:56 PM

if your single, no kids. sure. though i never cared for bars. just hanging out with some friends at someone's home is enough for me but even that got old after a while. now im so tired after the day i look forward to going to bed early and maybe sleeping in till 7:30 if i'm lucky.

I've gone through several cues over the years - back when I got serious into the local leagues - but never taken my own to a bar, of course.

Never shot pool in the military - we didn't have a table in the base rec centre. Just table tennis. WTF? :1orglaugh

ErectMedia 10-11-2014 02:38 PM

In my twenties was crazy and went out all the time and happy to have made it through those years alive. My brother and one of my cousins both mid twenties have never touched alcohol which always blows my mind. I'll fuck with them like sure ya don't want a drink and neither accepts. It's good I suppose but hell I helped finance quite a few bars back in the day.

Today I can still hang but the body doesn't recoup as fast the next day. I'll still go out but nowhere near the old frequency and prefer a sports bar with a good pool table, concert or a nice restaurant. Can still pull chicks substantially lower in age so not like I'm in a walker or anything just kinda been there done that so definitely have mellowed out.

DUI laws weren't as crazy as well when I was drinking consistently. Got pulled over cop made ya pour the beer out and ya kept rolling assuming ya didn't hit anything or kill anyone.

The front piece gets replaced every couple of years, but the back piece is like art and people love looking at it, it has some nice adornments. I take it out every once in a while to a bar, but places I know.

I learned on the base in pearl harbor at the EM club on sub base. I played in some of the bars we went to. My dad has a custom table with 2 1/2 slate that I will get some day. I hope it's after I build the house I want to retire in up in Northern California.

dehash 10-11-2014 04:51 PM

Sure. Last 1/2 bottle of Heineken I had 9 years ago. Didn't drink after that.

wehateporn 10-11-2014 05:03 PM

I can go a year without drinking

Yngwie 10-11-2014 05:46 PM

hell, the last time I had anything to drink was on August 16th and that was just 1 beer so ya, I could go without drinking whenever I want and for however long I want.

candyflip 10-11-2014 05:52 PM

I've gone years without going out and drinking. I actually can't tell you the last time I did. Maybe a year ago or so.

Nice.

Our local Legion has a 2 1/2 slate table...shot on it many times. But old vets with failing eyes and arthritic hands don't make for good competition.

marlboroack 10-11-2014 07:36 PM

I'm drinking

suesheboy 10-12-2014 03:35 AM

Sure I went out drinking hard during me early 20's.

I now find bars pure torture with the noise, dumb ass people and smoke.

seeandsee 10-12-2014 03:40 AM

I did it, this weekend, i am sick :)
