Trying out Vaping

Too lazy to kickstart old threads on vaping...startin' a new one.

Just bought an Innokin Itazte kit over the river in Niagara Falls, NY. Only had it for a few hours...and already I'm totally impressed. Great throat hit.

35-year smoker - and I get the feeling this is gonna totally transition me away from the cigs.

So to fully test this theory out - picked up a 12-pack of Corona on the way home. :1orglaugh (beer has always been my nemesis when trying to quit the cigs).

Anyone else have good luck replacing cigs with vaping? What e-cig are you using? Favorite flavors?

JockoHomo 11-23-2013 04:49 PM

I had to quite drinking before I could quite smoking. Give me a drink and I HAD to have a smoke.

Good luck with your transition. Way healthier for sure!

I've never been a cigarette smoker, but used to smoke marijuana heavily to the point that I had a chronic cough and quit for many years. I'm very happy and grateful for vaporizer technology.

I use a Volcano vaporizer, and when I am done vaping, I save the leftover vape material and then re-use it to create some potent cannabutter edibles with. :thumbsup

Additionally, I tend to wake up much more refreshed after sleeping from vaping then I do after smoking cannabis. :2 cents:

But the high is way differant, don't you think? I have a small box you attach a tube to, Vaper Brothers I think or something like that. I rarely use it because the high is vastly differant. So is the flavor, taste, etc.

MrMaxwell 11-23-2013 05:15 PM

Get something that lets you stack two 3.7v batteries and a charger from MadVapes. Buy LIMN batteries from super T manufacturing. Use dual coal 2.5ohm cartomizers. You'll never go back to smoking. You're welcome.

PS: You smoke more when you take alcohol because alcohol acidifies your urine and makes your body get rid of nicotine very quickly. Vaping will work for that. Use a strong juice for then. Stress does the same thing- makes your body use nicotine fast and then you smoke and it's OH WOW the CIGARETTE made me feel better. No, it didn't, it just got you back to "normal".

I have been vaping for over a year...

First ban tobacco from the your home - If you want a real cig you have to go outside.....

When it's cold you have a choice of standing alone in the cold or puffing on your vaporizer in front of the TV in the warm with your beers...

The vaporizer always wins.....

The summer was hard, I fucked up many times - You just have to see it as a setback and not a failure - Good luck...

If you don't get stoned vaporizing, you are probably doing it wrong (faulty product, wrong temp, etc). :2 cents:

http://volcanocafe.files.wordpress.c.../volc-bags.gif

When I first tried vaping, it was totally hit or miss, and I'll admit mostly miss, because there are lots of people trying to cash in on the vaporizing trend by coming out with inexpensive and disposable/limited life products, that really don't work very well.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...8.png~original

Try a Volcano Vaporizer once, and you will be convinced. :2 cents:

My personal findings:

There is not quite as quick/heavy of a buzz vaporizing, but there is also not the same lethargic pot-hangover that smoking cannabis can give you if you overindulge and bake out.

Vaping feels much cleaner, is not as harsh on your lungs, and you can actually taste the flavor of the individual cannabis strains.

Vaporizing definitely stretches my cannabis supply (makes it last longer) since it does not require as much cannabis and you are not wasting cannabis by burning it up, or while it burns between hits (you only inhale as much as you need from a vape bag, and then it seals itself until you press in to take your next hit).

As I have mentioned previously, you can use the leftover vape material to make cannabis edibles, further increasing the amount of times and how much you can get high as a result of vaporizing (I don't ever recommend trying to make edibles from leftover smoked cannabis roaches/ashes, etc).

And of course, there are the obvious health benefits derived from not smoking.

I'm delighted that the public is moving increasingly towards ending the prohibition on pot, however I hope that people will educate themselves and select healthy alternatives when they exist.

I have a DaVinci, it broke and they sent me a brand new one. I get higher than I ever did smoking and used a quarter the amount. If you don't get high, you're doing it wrong.

I wish I'd bought one sooner. I used to but an ounce a month and now only buy a quarter oz. It paid for itself the first month.

I can't smoke it anymore. The taste, the smell. It disgusts me.

You should see a return on your initial investment in a very short amount of time. :2 cents:

The same can be said for growing your own. Once you are past the initial investment, and get over the learning curve, growing your own is the way to go... Indica and Sativa plants grow like weeds, you know. :)

Just had a vape and getting ready to go out for a hike, and I suddenly remembered that song and was thinking about AfterShockMedia, a passionate cannabis advocate and GFYer who sadly passed away a few years ago - anyway, if you knew him, he would approve of this thread. :)

Not that I mind this thread drifting towards ganja vaping - mine will be for cig replacement only (I like how my braincells misfire all by themselves without THC intervention :1orglaugh).

But I'm really diggin' how this new gadget works - the throat hit is just like the cigs and I'm enjoying the overall taste and experience.

I also liked the place we bought the gear from - Novellus Vapor in Niagara Falls, NY. Brand new bricks-'n-mortar store (and vaping lounge)...the owner was super helpful and allowed us to try a half dozen flavours before buying.

Anybody had experience taking an e-cig on a plane...particularly issues with it at border customs?

We're takin' vaca in Aruba soon and wondering if there are issues taking along the vape unit.

Just dont take more than 2oz of liquid with you and you will be fine or check all your liquids

there is still a very strong social stigma towards vaping - it attracts alot of attention if you do it in public. I do not do it in public unless its a smoke friendly place.

Good advice, thanks. :thumbsup

Yeah - the social stigma of having to take the time explaining that it's harmless vapor and not second-hand smoke...would be an unwanted chore. I'm too old to be an activist - easier just to stick with smoke friendly places.

Are you talking about e cigarettes and saying that people don't understand what they are till this day?

Well first, I definitely get high from a vape and, as ADG said, it can be hit or miss at first, mostly getting the tempature right. (Thanks ADG for the great info!)

But ONCE high the actual affect (or effect?) is differant (to me). Not as heady, more of a body high, not as intense while being a differant sort of intense....not as 'organic' and natural, if that makes sense.

I also smoke from a wood pipe only (tho they're a bitch to clean) because I like the taste of weed and can taste the differant strains better than with a vape. I don't like glass pipes for that reason and vapes are very close to glass pipes (to me). Some people prefer glass pipes, some prefer joints, some like to vape. :)

I'm saying not everyone is familiar with vaping - some still associate it with smoking cigarettes.

One of my co-workers recently started vaping a few months ago. I didn't know a lot about it myself...so I asked him a few questions - he patiently answered and explained a few details. After that, I got interested in trying it myself.

Several other co-workers also asked him about the vaping - so I'd assume I wasn't alone in not knowing much about it.

Are we talking about e-cigarettes? If so, how can you NOT associate with smokingg cigarettes? After all it is e-cigarette.
In some languages they do not even have different word for smoking e-cigarette. I mean its same smoking.

Vaping is just another term for e-cigarette. One and the same.

There is no smoke in an e-cig. Just vapor. So it's a misnomer to refer to puffing/vaping on an e-cigarette (PV - personal vaporizer) as "smoking".

izombie 11-23-2013 11:03 PM

I used to do a lot of vaping and I had the Vapir One, and it would get me high as fuck. Vaporizers have gotten much better now, and use one that uses a bag so you can inhale the vapor casually. I had one of the box type vapes with the tube initially and too much of it got wasted, and it really was a hit or miss on each dose. Unfortunately I've had to quit the ganja because I'm trying to find a day job again I miss it terribly.

Medically, nicotine isn't a narcotic because it's not a compound that "induces stupor, coma, or insensibility to pain."

Narcotic is derived from the Greek word 'narkos' - meaning 'to sleep'.

Nicotine is a stimulant.

Legally speaking: no, it's not a narcotic because it's not regulated as a scheduled drug under the Controlled Substances Act.

But I'm guessing you already knew that. :winkwink:

this is a highly unpopular way to stop smoking here at GFY but it worked for me, haven't smoked in almost 20 years..... I used prayer.... every morning when I got up I prayed for the willingness to stop smoking and every night when I went to bed I prayed for the willingness to stop smoking .... then I treated ciggys like heroin... I lowered my dose like methadone... I would buy cartons and smoke like I always do, no need to torment myself on a daily basis ... except the first carton I got was a 'medium' after a few months I went lights, then ultra-lites... at that point I had to switch to menthol ... took about year... one day I finished up a pack before I went to bed, when I woke up I was a non smoker....

one thing to remember is whether you smoke or not the urge to smoke goes away AND every time you smoke you are making a conscious decision to harm yourself AND at six months I was in emotion crisis and could figure out why.... until someone pointed out the ciggys and the six month time frame to me.... see this happen to everyone I know that has stopped... and I stopped because I AM NOT A FUCKING QUITTER :1orglaugh

Despite being an atheist - hell, if prayer worked for you...then it's a good thing. Quite honestly, congrats on the quitting. :)

However, I'm not quite at that stage just yet. Switching to vaping may eventually lead to quitting altogether...but for now I still enjoy making the conscious decision to harm myself - must be the little masochist in me. :1orglaugh

in all honesty and in the sprit of full disclosure: I've never felt the need to cloak 'god' with a fairy tail, really makes more sense that way.... IMHO it's take less effort to allow or permit or just say yes, than deny or block or say no .... so I allow myself the opportunities provided by belief or more accurately 'acceptance' of a positive situation that exist. I seek no proof or approval, I just allow the situations to unfold in a positive way using a few simple tools... and most of the time they do.... my vice is SEX!

On a more pleasant note...I've now gone 24hrs. without a cig - using just the vape. And feeling absolutely no need or desire to light up.

Went through just one clearomizer fill so far (refilled around noon). Love how this unit can adjust the volts/watts settings to customize the hit strength.

I'm sold on this littl' doohickey already. :thumbsup

FACT: Your fact that vaping will not get you stoned is false. :)

Since the cannabis experience varies from person to person, I'm not going to argue with you.

In the spirit of what the OP wrote, vaping can help people such as myself whose respiratory system is compromised by smoking too much cannabis, since it is one of several ways to obtain the physiological and mental effects of cannabis without endangering your lungs.

GFY...Good For You! If vaping can help people reduce the harmful impacts of smoking tobacco, I say great! :thumbsup

One other related note is that vaping cannabis can be a good way to stop drinking alcohol.

I quit consuming cannabis around the time I entered the adult biz, about 14 years ago, and stopped for nearly a decade (except for the very rare toke here or there off of someone else's offered joint). However in it's place I started drinking much heavier than I had in the past.

For the better part of a decade I consumed on average a fifth of Bacardi rum a day, slow drinking rum and diet coke while editing all night (the rum gives you a buzz, and the caffeine in the Diet Coke makes you wide awake). Anyway, when I was arrested for my first (and only) DUI about 3-1/2 years ago, I decided to cut back.

A friend of mine told me that using cannabis helped him quit drinking, and so since I always preferred cannabis to drinking anyway, I decided to give it a try, and presto change-o, I quit drinking cold turkey and started vaping, and I haven't had an alcoholic drink in over 3 years now (I also lost over 80 pounds).

Results will differ, but I am happier, healthier and more productive, and that is good enough for me. :2 cents:

Whatever gets you through the night... :)

I left the infrequent recreational cannabis behind in my mid-20s. Alcohol is still on the menu, but these days I've cut it back to beer only - the Jack Daniels mostly stays in the liquor cabinet.

But after losing my boss and good friend this past Sept. to cancer (he was an avid chain-smoker)...and feeling the effects myself of 35yrs of smoking (a recent bad bout with bronchitis that really kicked my ass) - I've decided to make the effort to affect some changes.

It helps having a co-worker who's into vaping - we can commiserate and compare notes.

'preciate your candor on the topic ADG. :)
