Brujah 03-02-2003 11:24 AM

I heard they were voting again.

Also that the American Media had been getting the story wrong and making Turkey look bad with inaccuracies. That the actual amount of money in form of a loan that they were promising was $4 billion ( not $30 billion ).

No they aren't gonna do that now.

Miss Novette 03-02-2003 12:42 PM

Seems odd that we would have to pay them in order to protect their interests. I know we are protecting our interests as well, but they are benefiting. Greed, plain greed.

:(

I don't think so....

there are 2 factors which play role in Turkey at the moment:
1) it's a Moslem Country and USA did reneg on it's promise from prev Gulk War

2) Germany is making their dandiest to make sure that Turkey will never be the part of EU,
and either Turks decided to play Germany card or disapointed with West all together

Hadn't heard that...

I think they've had a plan in place just in case for a while now, so hopefully it isn't going to be too big a deal.

(One less listing in the US's check book.)

How many of the countries that owe the US billions and billions in loans or receive billions and billions in aid think they were stabbed in back by the US now?

1441 was unanimous - that means 100% of the UN agreed with America - and 1441 was pretty clear in it's intention.

The important countries still trust America.

Some will put their own interests ahead of America - but that has little to do with trust.

nap 03-02-2003 01:55 PM

This is just another sign that Bush is way in over his head.

Exactly. In the first war Usa said all of the economical loses of Turkey will be compansated. It is estimated that Turkey lost around 100 Billion. Usa only paid couple million $$$. They have estimated that Turkey will lose around 180 billion in this war. Compare the money Usa will make in this war to the money Turkey will lose... I don't even understand why politicians are even voting for this.

The money the US will MAKE? :1orglaugh

Man are you out of touch with reality.

We could buy every drop of their oil for less than this war will cost.
It's not about oil and it REALLY isn't about the US making money.

You really didn't think about that before you said it did you?

112 billion barrels of oil X 18 per barrel = 20.160.00.000.000

Do you think we've ran out of the oil we took from Iraq last time?

OK then -

you may go stand in line with the others who think this is all about oil..... :1orglaugh

Its more like 300 Billion Barrels x $35 = 10.5 Trillian

Plus Iraq has the lowest recovery costs of any producing country so the profit margin is way fatter.

Plus don't forget the US Taxpayers foot the bill. The Oil Companies pillage the profits. Nice having your own private army and fleet of aircraft carriers to do your land acquisition work for you at no cost. :1orglaugh

With all the indirect benefits our aid to Israel is now at $8 Billion per year. I'd like ya too for $20 Million dollar daily handout.

Sly_RJ 03-02-2003 08:53 PM

I had a turkey sandwich for lunch today. It was great. Can't beat fresh deli meat.

PornoDoggy 03-02-2003 10:25 PM

There's something about this that bugs me. I'm not one of the people who thinks that other countries have to do whatever the U.S. tells them to do, but this smells bad - almost as if it was designed to make Bush look bad.

Anyone who knows my opinion of Bush knows I don't think he needs any help to look bad. Still, this one kind of stinks.
