damn nice blast from the past

My very first amp was an old Sears Silvertone that I put on top of a home-made 4x10 cabinet. Wish I still had it now...

I love those old devices!

nice stuff :))
|
I want one. I recently restored and hotrodded 2 Silvertone guitars and they both play great.
|
great, the old ones are the best, design, technique, feeling, everything.

I've always been partial to tube amps. I now run a Peavey Classic 50 watt tube amp http://lbbv.com/mymusic/mp3/pics/new.jpg "I have too many guitars" - said no musician ever :thumbsup http://lbbv.com/mymusic/mp3/pics/allguitars.jpg -- Bill |
Nice axes man!
|
i had one just like that with my first guitar when i was 15. paid 50 bucks for the guitar and amp. it did sound cool but i ended up selling it myself when i wasn't instantly good at the guitar.

i remember a lot of these sorts of amps in garages when i grew up http://www.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/1/324447.jpg i noticed you have a bass in your collection, it's true about not being able to have too many guitars, i picked up a cheapy acoustic electric bass to learn, i like that bass line! :thumbsup |

apparently, there is class A power magic in the simplicity of this circuit.

That?s a cool little amp. Gotta love the vintage stuff. It makes me think of my first bass. It was an old beat up as hell Vox, but I still loved it despite its action being nearly an inch off the fret board.
A few years later, I had a friend who was 10x the guitarist I was. Seeing my old beat up bass, he offered to trade me his Fender Lead II for it. Long story short, that Lead II still hangs on my wall to this day and my fingers aren?t as strong as they used to be. Nice amp:thumbsup |
OMG, are those tubes! Nice!

i'm guessing you used your strat for wind whispers mary! !!1
|
this is the bass i snagged, $60
took a bit to get it tuned enough to pass the tuner test, but it seems to be staying in tune, i need to get new strings though, these are wound very rough. http://d3d71ba2asa5oz.cloudfront.net.../sky426-1d.jpg |
I just added this to my collection a few weeks ago. It's a Taylor T5..the neck on it feels like a 335. The pups on this one are really interesting. It can sound as pure as a vintage Martin or as brutal as a Jackson. This picture doesn't do the top finish justice. It's really a nicely done guitar.

jfc Minte, those guitars are beautiful ! that f hole design is well-done imo. big fan of that too, had to have that on this tele/strat.
|
just watched this youtube on that t5
<---mind blown! |
You realize it's GuitarAcquisitionSyndrome... It starts without any ill intentions. Then before you know it, half of your bookmarks are guitar shops. And soon you have 25+ guitars hanging on your walls. :winkwink:

These are places online that I have had successful dealings with.
http://www.zzounds.com/ http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/ http://www.samash.com/ <--best prices on Gibson & Fenders http://www.themusiczoo.com/ http://davesguitar.com/ <-- best selection of highend custom shop stuff. http://www.music123.com/ a lot like Sam Ash No issues with any of these places. They all negotiate prices on higher end stuff if you call. If I had a fave it's probably the music zoo. |

cool, thx. actually only had been to 1 of these previously, sam ash, they didn't have that fender i wanted either, found out later fender discontinued it, which is their marketing plan for the pawn shop series. fine by me, it's mij and got here monday via ebay, sounds glorious and in most ways already easier to play than the cheapy i've been on. fretting is such much nicer, 6105 frets? schweet. which forum(s) ultimate-guitar? :) |

I read a lot of guitar forums. Some of these guitar forums are huge and very active with thousands of members. |
