made in 1963, all original tubes, speaker, grill cloth, everything! original owner. this is the sears = tweed champ.

My very first amp was an old Sears Silvertone that I put on top of a home-made 4x10 cabinet. Wish I still had it now...

jack white runs a silvertone pushing 4x10 cab, which is what got me interested in the silvertone, that thing is 100watts though, it will blow down stadiums. from what i gather, there's also a fender hot rod amp too.

wow, that's super! i saw those in researching the amp and was curious about them, how does it play? i guess by hotrodding you replaced the pickups and such? (i'm new to guitars and such, this is my 1st amp!)

Yeah, my Silvertone could be heard throughout the entire neighborhood when I played!

I've always been partial to tube amps. I now run a Peavey Classic 50 watt tube amp

i had one just like that with my first guitar when i was 15. paid 50 bucks for the guitar and amp. it did sound cool but i ended up selling it myself when i wasn't instantly good at the guitar.

it's true about not being able to have too many guitars, i picked up a cheapy acoustic electric bass to learn, i like that bass line! :thumbsup

they are insanely desirable amps to have these days, i had no idea. i got lucky with this one, stumbled upon it and snagged it asap! a brand new copy of this amp with the original box sold for $600 a while back.

That?s a cool little amp. Gotta love the vintage stuff. It makes me think of my first bass. It was an old beat up as hell Vox, but I still loved it despite its action being nearly an inch off the fret board.

A few years later, I had a friend who was 10x the guitarist I was. Seeing my old beat up bass, he offered to trade me his Fender Lead II for it. Long story short, that Lead II still hangs on my wall to this day and my fingers aren?t as strong as they used to be.

I did a CD of my music about 5 years ago and needed something to do the bass lines, so I picked that Yamaha bass up for $80 on Ebay and learned just enough bass to get by. The seller said it didn't work at all, but I hit the knobs with a bit of contact cleaner, put new strings on it and it sounds like new and plays pretty well.

Tube amps kick out a lot more volume per watt. A 20W Marshall will make your ears bleed.

it's crazy. hey, thanks for the advice (from that other thread) on looking further into amps, i still have that mustang 1 on my list, i wanted to go very simple so i don't rick distracting myself messing around with all the cool features of that amp instead of practicing!

this is the bass i snagged, $60

took a bit to get it tuned enough to pass the tuner test, but it seems to be staying in tune, i need to get new strings though, these are wound very rough.

I just added this to my collection a few weeks ago. It's a Taylor T5..the neck on it feels like a 335. The pups on this one are really interesting. It can sound as pure as a vintage Martin or as brutal as a Jackson. This picture doesn't do the top finish justice. It's really a nicely done guitar.

You realize it's GuitarAcquisitionSyndrome... It starts without any ill intentions. Then before you know it, half of your bookmarks are guitar shops. And soon you have 25+ guitars hanging on your walls. :winkwink:

cool, thx. actually only had been to 1 of these previously, sam ash, they didn't have that fender i wanted either, found out later fender discontinued it, which is their marketing plan for the pawn shop series. fine by me, it's mij and got here monday via ebay, sounds glorious and in most ways already easier to play than the cheapy i've been on. fretting is such much nicer, 6105 frets? schweet.

You need to post a pic of the Fender! After it acclimates to your weather for a while, take it to a good luthier and he will set it up as good as it can be set. It's always a good investment for an extra $100. Then there is the great string conundrum. My experience with Fenders has been using 9's.. And the next player will say 10's.

I read a lot of guitar forums. Some of these guitar forums are huge and very active with thousands of members.
