Should Fat People Be Shamed?
If they know they are fat and not doing anything about it?
I gotta admit, I'm not exactly a small framed guy myself, but I'm not morbidly obese either, those who are fat and don't seem to have any thought about losing some of their weight, do you think they should be shamed to lose weight (so long as it doesn't go overboard)? |
Just to clarify, I mean grown adults, who should know better, not abused kids who's parents feed them McDonalds for breakfast, lunch and dinner...
|
They should be accountable. If you want to eat cookies and ice cream and cheeseburgers all day long, then you should also have to purchase 2 plane tickets and pay more for health care. People who end up with illness related to smoking, drinking and eating too much should be paying for it.
|
They shouldnt be shamed, but they should be put on type of program. No offense to any over weight individuals but when you get so big youre in your own way, chances are youre in everyone else's as well. I live my life by this - "You get as much respect as you give yourself" the 1 in 1000 that has a glandular issue is the exception to the rule.

Its weird though you say 1:1000 for glandular issues, most fat people seem to say they have those so I'm wondering if there is a glandular pandemic going around that the rest of us don't know about? |
How about people that play sports?

no I am not a fatty but this shows how much thought you put into this.
What about those who smoke? Drink everyday? Do drugs? Drunk driving kills more people then fat people crashing while eating a bigmac. 2nd hand smoke kills others but when fatty eating 40 chicken nuggets he doesn't give me cancer LOL. These are just a couple that I would shame before the fatties. |
holy shit, this thread. wow, the nerve. talk about finger pointing.

It's not about to be ashamed it's about be fubar :2 cents:
Please don't point your finger to other people. Btw, 30 lbs off in 55 days :pimp |
A big part of the problem is that enough people are not educated on how their food choices impact their weight. I'm not talking about fad diets or restricting all carbs. I'm talking about the actual studies that show processed foods are used by the body differently. The easiest example is high fructose corn syrup and sugar. The white beet sugar can be stored by the body in a way that makes it easy to use for energy, but the HFCS attaches to muscles making it extremely difficult to get rid of. Problem is most people don't know that HFCS can be found in everything from ice cream to ketchup and we consume it in a much larger amount than we think we do.
Simply put, education would be helpful. |

Should it be discouraged through things like education? Absolutely. Should some holier-than-thou type be running around persecuting fat people to "make them not be fat"? No. That's just ignorance and as far as I'm concerned being ignorant is far worse than being fat.

Michelle Obama tries to bring awareness to the obesity issue. Retards scream about "gubmint overreach".

seems to me if education via government is an option, then government working with businesses to educate them on not using corn syrup woulg go further.

I learned all about healthy food choices in school. Every year throughout school. I now have the Internet where I can get information on anything and everything under the sun. I can go in the other room, turn on the TV, flip through the channels and find at minimum 2 shows about food/fitness/healthy living.
We are now part of the information age. It's all out there, waiting to be absorbed. Lack of education is no longer a viable excuse in the Western world. |

what are you hungry for? mmmmmm, a hamburger sounds good! it's not what is your body hungry for, it's what sounds good for dinner! what are you really hungry for? well, i need some protein, a bit of carbs and some fat, oh and some fiber. |
Worry about yourselves. I am sure everyone here could be picked apart in a matter of minutes.

shame for being fat? is this thread for real? You should be ashamed of doing bad things, causing harm, pain, being a prick, a thief, a criminal... but.... being ashamed of being fat? I'm not fat (I've some overweight now that I spent 1 year in bed, and still nobody would call me fat) but really, can't believe this. One thing is being worried or concerned, but... ASHAMED???? Give me a break :disgust

In my experience the people who are most hard on fat people, or negatively comment on how fat other people are, are usually fat themselves.
|
kinda depends on why they are fat no?

Food for some people can be very addictive - There are chemicals in the brain that are released when you eat and in some people they can be as addictive as nicotine or crack...
I am not saying its the case with everybody, but its the case with a lot of people - Especially those who binge... |
