eye candy is the best for sure.

Juggernaut 02-17-2003 01:54 AM

This forum, as vulgar and stupid as it can be at times, does attract morons. Don't let these people stray you in any way.

Eyecandy is pretty good because it's a program that installs quite a lot of effects all in one go.

For individual effects, you'll find some great plug-ins and add-ons for photoshop and other great Adobe software on their exchange site.

You have to register to use the service, but it's well worth it. You can download samples, templates and other such things also, great too because you see examples before you download.

Check it out: http://share.studio.adobe.com/Default.asp

There's a stupid comment if I ever saw one.

Plug-ins are time-savers.

Time = money.

End of story.

I've tried fucking with plugin filters, and it's just a fuckin' waste of time, for me. I end up trying to tweak it so damn much that I may as well have just done the desired effect without plugin filters at all. I find that after so many years of fucking with PS, and learnig new tutorials and/or new tips and tricks weekly, that I still end up using the same 10 techniques that I always use.

lol, sure, plugins are fine if you don't care about being a "typical" designer. when your in the adult biz, typical usually pays cause its not a very design specific field. but, for me i dont like creating designs that are "too similar".. so i'll mess around with the tools a bit, try new techniques and such. so if a person uses plugins all the time then being unique or original must not really matter to them much. sure, theres a few plugins that are universal when it comes to design, but soley depending on plugins for making buttons and what not, while not even knowing how to make them manually is pretty gay imo.

There isn't a god damn thing you're going to school me on that I haven't done a dozen times before you even showed up.

ok well, if i were to school you on how to suck dick like my ex g/f you wouldn't need to be schooled? and you've done it over a dozen times? damn. :thumbsup

DX 02-17-2003 03:05 AM

If you want to sway off topic, I'm sure you'd make an excellent 'how to suck cock' teacher.

Why you'd want to brag about it, is beyond me.

Not a bad thing for me. It's just something that I learned recently about people and their mentality over money. It spoke of how rich people talk, and how non-rich people talk. And one of the things it said was listen to the way people talk, and the example they gave was, "time is money"... and sure enough it was said just shortly after I learned it. heh.

galleryseek 02-17-2003 03:07 AM

hehe. i'm just arguing for the hella it. since its what your sig suggests.

DX 02-17-2003 03:20 AM

it's from a python sketch ; )

Back to the plugin thing for a bit..

I've been hearing the same load of crap since 96...
if you actually get to know how to tweak the plugins...
they can be your friend... there's just a few "purists"
out there that never looked past the presets before
they make their dismissive judgements.

load of crap #2: you *need* Photoshop to be a "pro".
But that's a topic I stopped arguing a long time ago...

i'll agree with that. although most pros do use photoshop, its not essential.

Hmmm. I've heard some very rich people say "Time is money".

Who told you it's a blue collar expression?

If you're wasting my time, it could have been time I'd spend conceiving new ways to make money. Therefor, you're wasting my money as well.

You have no idea do you?

FRANKENSTEIN 02-17-2003 04:48 AM

Time is time.
Money is money.

Man created money to give his time monetary value.
They do not, however, equal each other.

diggy 02-17-2003 05:01 AM

It's not about time, it's about being able to produce a desirable result.

Oh and mate, if you actually had a decent grasp on the software it wouldn't make any difference as to whether you used a bunch of 3rd party filters or not.

You're right.

It's not like I've been designing porn sites since '96 or anything.

It's not like I haven't had my designs ripped off hundreds of times.

I haven't got a fucking clue.

You obviously have too much time and too little money.

OzKaNoz 02-17-2003 10:46 AM

Sorry Franky Stein
DX is right!
Time does = money

Every minute of the day cost money even if you are just sitting around.

Anything that you can use that saves you time in whatever you are doing, means you have time left to do other things, other projects, comittments and sites.

Yes time does = money....there are no 2 ways about it!

Read this then you'll understand my views on statement like "time doesn't = money"

Plug-ins RULE!

Mutt 02-17-2003 12:17 PM

i agree with DX that plug-in's are a great time saver and that's what it's all about.

but the graphic posted above is a really good argument against plugins!

strugling poet, obviously got in the wrong biz

NoCarrier 02-17-2003 12:41 PM

Plugins are for the designers what free porn is for surfers. No wonder why they will say it sucks :Graucho

If I was a designer I'd say they suck and try to get some contracts.

Tala 02-17-2003 01:42 PM

Just in case you're still reading this and needing more plugins...

Eyecandy is tops, yes.

www.flamingpear.com

There you're going to find Super Blade Pro, glitterato, flexify, Mr. Contrast, flood, Hue and Cry, and an assortment of others.

I would also check out Harry's Filters for gradients and color work.

Good luck. Enjoy.
