Wow, that guy sounds like my dad when he's pissed off talking about money, but my dad typically doesn't keep as cool.

Good for Peter Schiff. It's blatantly obvious they weren't expecting him to go down there and talk to them, all they could do was repeat themselves, they couldn't answer the question.

And I laughed heartily when he said "I probably pay more income taxes than everyone around me combined." haha

vsex 11-07-2011 09:37 AM

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh those people make such asses out of themselves

96ukssob 11-07-2011 09:41 AM

America... the land of "I deserve more and I should have to work less... and others should have to pay for me because they make more money" :1orglaugh

raymor 11-07-2011 09:47 AM

He has some balls to go down in the middle of that crowd.

MetaMan 11-07-2011 09:48 AM

Why do people always talk about these loser ass students and their big ass student loans. why do they deserved to be paid for? they took on the loans. fuck them.

wehateporn 11-07-2011 09:56 AM

Let's say that Peter Schiff creates millions of androids who are capable of doing everyone else's jobs better than them, eventually his androids take all the jobs in the USA. All the money paid to the androids goes to Peter Schiff, he pays tax on it, but there are no jobs for anyone else. Would be be ok to accept this?

Nembrionic 11-07-2011 09:59 AM

Can somebody slap that obnoxious bitch? Damn, she is fucking annoying. All panicky and excited.

only idiots use hypothetical situations to prove a point.

and you literally used "androids" as one. are you a massive idiot or?

let me try one:
what if God came down to earth and Peter Schiff made a deal with God to take all the American jobs. he pays tax on it and there is no jobs for anyone else. would he be ok in accepting this?

seriously the way some of you people think my brain hurts. you belong out with the 99%.

wehateporn 11-07-2011 10:03 AM

MetaMan, you've misunderstood my post, I want them off the streets last month.

I was simply posing a question as I wanted to see what people thought

i dont have time to deal with hypothetical problems. i watch movies for that. id rather focus on real world problems in front of me.

that's todays world. focus on problems that may not arise in the future to pass off focusing the ones that matter today.

MetaMan's point is that if you want to pose a question, make it a realistic one.

These idiots are all pissed about this guy being rich, but that's not really the problem(even though they make entirely too much money). I don't doubt CEO's pay more than their fair share of taxes. The real problem is that these guys are in charge of gambling scenarios that have almost destroyed our economy, and they're going to continue to do so.

_Richard_ 11-07-2011 10:18 AM

the only thing clear about Schiff is the size of his ego

Just to make it clear where I stand, I wrote an article which has now gone viral on the net, calling for people to get off the streets. Thousands of websites and forums linked to it and are currently debating it

You would have had to have waited to see where I was going with my hypothetical question; it was a wolf dressed up as a sheep

Paul&John 11-07-2011 10:25 AM

haha that was good

Phoenix 11-07-2011 10:26 AM

yeah his ego must be so massive his neck will surely give him problems later.

he is an asshat, for me ows is not about paying less tax or more
it is about where trillions of dollars went..all this Schiff is doing is wag the dog.
he should stick to making money

sperbonzo 11-07-2011 10:26 AM

Good for him!!!

That woman was ridiculously annoying. She's in the 1% of stupid bitches. Or, sadly, maybe not.

I think their side of it is they can't get jobs in their field of study, but i have a feeling if you look into some of these fields of study they chose to be in it would be a lot more revealing as to why they can't find work now...

Rochard 11-07-2011 10:35 AM

I've said this before.... Everyone who is in the 99% would KILL to be in the 1%.

MarkDeus 11-07-2011 10:36 AM

Can somebody please shut her up? thanks

This is a more than valid point. And i completely agree. I know a lot of people like this.

They never thought things through then they complain about loan sizes. They just went to have the "college experience". Like it has been discussed over and over here it is the sense of entitlement.

Alot of college grads have a huge false sense of entitlement. I dont know how many friends told me they would be making "$100k/year as an engineer" their first year out. How quickly things change.

There are no guarantees in life and for some reason they have an attitude that if they have a degree they are entitled to better and high paying jobs even with 0 skill.

They believe and rely on the system, then when the system "turns on them" (in their opinion) they are angry. They put their trust in the system they are just as much to blame if not more.

funny how nobody mentioned that part when he was taking questions, it would seem the majority down there are talking about tax %'s. Which would mean you are siding with people who have different opinions than yourself.

bailouts? missing trillions? how do they compare to the unemployment money, make work programs, welfare money, food stamps money they are dishing out constantly? I don't know personally but I have a feeling its big enough to make a comparison.

VikingMan 11-07-2011 10:54 AM

This is a perfect example of how people debate in the face of reason after being indoctrinated by an ideology. They will parrot that ideology regardless if that ideology is clearly discredited with facts and reason. The reason why Marxism has been so successful is because it is an ideology created to solicit the lowest common denominator in a society. I would say the trendy Marxist sheep who form the core of these OWS protests are part of the lowest common denominator in the USA.

Rochard 11-07-2011 11:01 AM

I hate to say it, but he was talking right around her and she couldn't even debate with him.

We bitch about the 1% but the truth is they are way smarter than the rest of us.

Nothing hypothetical about creating lots of machines that do a better job than human workers. It was called the Industrial Revolution. Some workers complained about the new machines. Others learned to maintain, design, sell, or operate the machines and for big pay raises because they were able to operate machines setting 10,000 rivets per hour, whereas before they could personally set 150 rivets per hour.

In the 1980s a new generation of machines starting doing the jobs once done by humans, doing those jobs better and faster. This time it was called the Information Age. Some workers complained. Other workers learned how to operate, operate, design, construct, and maintain the new machines, called "computers". The ones who learned tbe new technology made more money than before because they were more productive than before.

In each case, increased productivity doubled average wages. It was a great thing for the country. It wasn't as great for those who refused to learn the skills needed for the new environment.

is that the truth of it?

Brujah 11-07-2011 11:26 AM

Two thoughts. He should've spoken to someone who knew more than "get rid of the Bush tax cuts" a thousand times. Next, he could tell the truth. I don't believe at all that he pays more than 50% of his income in taxes.

If he lives and works in NYC, I'm sure he does.

Sunny Day 11-07-2011 11:33 AM

Rich

I was at a temp accounting assignment, and the corp owner (93 on the Forbes 400) flew in to give a speech, of why we should invest our 401Ks in the company.
He had been charged by the SEC for stock fraud, the year before.

Right. Guy I would trust.

Behind every great fortune is a criminal.

Has Peter Schiff released his tax records? He sounds like he is full of shit he should prove it.

VikingMan 11-07-2011 11:36 AM

Peter Schiff does not know what he is talking about. For example he has been screaming for everyone to buy gold and silver for the past decade and we all know how bad of advice that was don't we? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh Gold at $1,791 at the time of this posting.
