I am thinking of moving to the US.....
I don't think I can do it legally though.
If I came over and could keep myself would that be a huge issue? I looked at the Green Card lottery thing and that seems to be a scam, and I don't even think I can enter anyway. Its possible to do it legally I think if I travel a lot. I get the impression it would depend on what state I ended up in. I was thinking South Texas. |
short walk eh?

why cant u go legally there ?
are you convicted or something like that ? |

I'm sure 12clicks would love to have you on the roofing crew.
|
Why would you do that?

You can get a green card through a job. You would have travel here on a visa and find a job that was willing to hire you and sponsor you. They would then have to file paperwork explaining how you are needed by their company and you can get a green card through them. It isn't easy, but it can be done.

I also saw a story on the news about a guy who had hired a Mexican to work on his farm. He then finds out the guy is illegally in the US and has fake papers. The Mexican is deported. About nine months later he was able to get a visa and came back to the US and that guy hired him and sponsored him so he got the green card. |
Sponsoring someone for a job is over $10K for the employer in lawyer and other fees. It takes years.
Do you really wanna live the life of a Mexican with no medical coverage and no driver's license? |

America sucks, you don't want to go here. If you are in 3rd world i would stay there if i were you.

legally immigrating into the US without a lot of money to grease the wheels so to speak would probably take you a few years. If you are hired by an American company that wants you to work locally you will get a work Visa not a green card that has a limited duration and needs to be renewed but as long as you are working there should be no problem. However if you lose the job you have a pretty narrow window to get another one or lose the Visa.
I have had a couple of friends who were here on work Visas one of which became a citizen while here working. |

green card lottery isn't scam - just find its official site. there are plenty of scammers taking money for application though and sites pretending to be official sites.
I know of at least 3-4 families who won green cards through the lottery. you have to be persistent if if not winning first time keep applying following years. the odds of winning aren't as bad as in other lotteries. |
Dont do it! America is a sinking ship right now. But if you must, California gives away free healthcare, drivers licenses, and schooling to illegals, so I would move there.
|
Good luck with your trip!

Wasn't there something on the board where it said if you purchase a 300k home that you would get immediate greencard approval?

Central Texas is nice. Legal immigration is a major pain. It needs to be made faster or less expensive so that it's an attractive alternative to doing it illegally.
As said above, there's the official government green card lottery, and then there are a bunch of scam sites charging hefty fees to fill out the form for you. You have something like a 1/10 chance, so on average it takes 5 years. I've been going through the laws lately and they are complicated as heck. It is quite expensive for a company to sponsor you and it's illegal for you to reimburse the cost. Musicians, artists, and athletes of "special ability" get a special deal, as well as people with unique skills in other areas. The idea there is that while you don't want millions of people floating in looking for work, your don't want to have Pavorotti waiting two years for a visa in order to do a US tour. Also when Einstein decided to come here, he for in on that fast track as someone with unique abilities - he's not just one more random person wanting to immigrate here. |
you are still better of in Europe. All the focus is on the euro right now but within a month shit will hit the fan in the USA

Also - If you have a plan then you can find your niche and make it - webmaster, programmer, architecture - whatever you're doing. On the other hand - you can shorten your expenses / like the 5000 E sofas or something/ and wait for the crisis to pass away ( which is not the best option for you - as far as I can see) The dude who wrote about the villa and the maids says that he made it - if he's telling the truth (but here people often lie about their financial situation - it's not good for business to tell the people you're broke or something, if you had successfull company the past 10 years), so that means that you can make it too if you find the right combination. Important - I'm not saying the guy with the villa that he's lying - not at all - I admire his success and wish him all the best - he can hire me anytime though :winkwink: Also - there will be good guys who will give you very good advice so follow on them and don't mind the haters, trolls and other kind of fairy tale characters. Eyes on the target best of luck. Cheers, M. |
