Number 2 Reason you know you are going against the status quo-
Yahoo/ABC "news" can't stop doing news articles about how evil you are-
Notice that even though these items do have a "commentary" label, they were posted in the news sections of yahoo as news and presented as such with the headlines-
Why Nazis and Commies Like OWS
http://news.yahoo.com/why-nazis-comm...191900304.html

Sexual Assaults, Thefts Plague OWS
http://news.yahoo.com/sexual-assault...200100603.html
From this gem-
"The Occupy movement, also known as the Flea Party, claims to represent 99 percent of Americans.
Rasmussen reports that only 36 percent of likely voters polled support the protests, deemed "Parasites on Parade" by radio personality and author Mark Levin."

There have been more of these "news" stories almost every day...

found this on facebook:

My friend's first-hand experience of Occupy Oakland's eviction: "What the news is telling you about the Occupy Oakland raid is not the whole truth. I was there for every single minute of it. At 5 am approx 3-400 police surrounded the plaza in full riot gear and gave everyone 5 mins to exit. I moved to just outside the barrier they established because I am not in a position where I can get arrested right now. Myself and approx 15-20 other protesters (one legal observer from the national lawyers guild) were facing approx 30 police in riot gear and witnessing the "eviction." It was brutal. Over 300 police in full riot gear fired tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bombs. They arrested over 90 people. Then, the 90 pound hippy chick right next to me was thrown to the pavement by a baton and she did NOTHING (we were outside of the plaza, mind you). I spoke loud and clear and reminded him that he attacked an unarmed WOMAN! Then they started pushing us back with barricades and when we didn't move as fast as they wished, they began grabbing people and trying to drag them over the fences. There was a struggle and then they came from behind the barricades swinging clubs and arresting everyone they could get their hands on... Slamming their faces into the concrete... many of them women. I barely got away. And when I asked them why were these people arrested, they said, 'I don't know... my superior ordered me, so I did.' They shut down the entire downtown with police barricades. Buses and the 12th st Bart Station were shut down. They DESTROYED EVERYTHING in the camp... this was no eviction. When those of us left regrouped and started a march in the streets to shut down broadway, another formation came and more arrests were made. I could go on. It was insane. I've never seen anything like this in my life. You might wanna think about calling someone and saying something. Word is they are holding arrestees on a $10,000 bail until their arraignment on Thursday. Call Mayor: 510.238.3141 Alemeda County Sheriff: 510.272.6878 and demand cite & release."

yes, was going to write that. at some point the media can't ignore masses of people or movements, especially in the age of social media and the internet, they will lose credibility as objective news organs if they do, so they will acknowledge it by demonizing and smearing and trying to turn joe and jane underwater mortgage against them.

very true, many comments on these stories from people have been against the "writers" because it just such complete crap served up as news.
even people who aren't necessarily into the OWS movement can see through the crap because there are too many other sources of info.
the funniest thing i've seen repeatedly in the comments is "i didn't know the nazis had become left wing" :1orglaugh

people have to realize too that there is and will be alot of infiltration into these OWS groups to stir shit up.

on that oakland raid, here is the yahoo news item-
http://news.yahoo.com/anti-wall-stre...010348285.html
alright, they do say "police swept into Oakland's Occupy Wall Street protest, firing tear gas and beanbag rounds.."
of course the police say "there were no injuries" which is highly unlikely...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Anatomy_of_Revolution

Brinton summarizes the revolutionary process as moving from "financial breakdown, [to] organization of the discontented to remedy this breakdown ... revolutionary demands on the part of these organized discontented, demands which if granted would mean the virtual abdication of those governing, attempted use of force by the government, its failure, and the attainment of power by the revolutionists. These revolutionists have hitherto been acting as an organized and nearly unanimous group, but with the attainment of power it is clear that they are not united. The group which dominates these first stages we call the moderates .... power passes by violent ... methods from Right to Left."

-

The revolutions begin with problems in the pre-revolutionary regime. These include problems functioning ? "government deficits, more than usual complaints over taxation, conspicuous governmental favoring of one set of economic interests over another, administrative entanglements and confusions". There are also social problems, such as the feeling by some that careers are not "open to talents", and economic power is separated from political power and social distinction. There is a "loss of self-confidence among many members of the ruling class," the "conversion of many members of that class to the belief that their privileges are unjust or harmful to society." (p. 65) "Intellectuals" switch their allegiance away from the government. (p. 251) In short, "the ruling class becomes politically inept."

-

Revolutionaries are "not unprosperous" but "feel restraint, cramp, ... rather than downright crushing oppression."

It is good to see the police earning their taxpayer funded paycheck. If they cannot establish order in a public park what good are they?

I completely agree. We can't have the public using public space to engage in their first amendment rights, can we? Crack 'em on the head!

Calling someone else a troll when you're the biggest troll in the room makes you seem dumber than you have appeared in all of your previous posts.

Personally I believe maintaining public order so that decent people can live their lives and run their businesses is something serious...... that is why it is nice to see the police restoring order so that the actual 99% (as opposed to the Marxists and the hippies and addicts and the degenerates) can get on with making a living to feed their families.

I realize some of you think that "revolution" and "smashing the system" is cool...... but most people just want try and make their way through the world and expect the police to at least be able to maintain public order. When the police are unable to do that, the social contract really will have been broken.

Nobody is calling for a revolution, they're just smart enough to realize that it's a lot harder to get fucked over when you band together for a common cause. No different than what someone does when they march in a picket line with their local to protect their right to make a living and feed their family.

According to you, someone like my uncle, a decorated Vietnam veteran and trade unionist for thirty-some-odd years, or the countless Iraq and Afghanistan war vets in my local are anti-American marxist/commies.:upsidedow

In very few other countries in the world does the general public have access to as many guns as people in the US have. It could get ugly once the violence escalates...

The BBC News website is generally biased and one-side when it comes to the UN, EU, Vaccines, Climate Change and the major wars. The media is an important branch of government, these days it can be difficult to find the Real News, the Internet does have it, but mixed in with all kinds of made up junk. One has to carefully siphon through the information, checking sources and seeing if the information fits in with the big picture and the reality of what is happening around us. :2 cents:
