Really, if using any variation of the "n word" will get you banned on GFY, how about banning people who use disparaging terms for other races as well? If I had an avatar of a gorilla that said "brassni****" I would get banned.

Since AJC got banned for the same thing banning brassmonkey only seems fair.

if someone called me a honkey I would laugh my ass off and invite them back to the 70s. If they called me lily, whitebread, the man, cracker or any other racial slur towards whites... again I would laugh my ass off.

sometimes a monkey is just a monkey, that is why I think it is stretching the intent of that rule. If you point out that said great ape is wearing a hat and headphones, there are DJs of every race and I can remember monkies that were dressed up in tuxedos and various costumes in the past. IMO (and thats all it is), that rule is intended for much more overt and mean spirited racial epitaphs

again I have to disagree with you, I have been in many discussions on this board where there were major disagreements and I as well as the people I disagreed with were very civil to one another. There is no need for insults from either of us.

I disagree that brassmonkey's avatar is racist, you obviously feel differently, that's really the end of it. If you make a thread like this you have to expect some people are going to disagree with your POV but I was not insulting to you in any way

The rule could say "inflammatory racial slur" and be a bit more clear, but it would still come down to knowing it when you see it.

i think the context is more important.. when someone calls a white person a honky it's meant to offend but it has the same effect as being called a moron or an idiot which is minimal... The others are far more offensive because they are associated with hate and hate crimes that are no longer tolerated.
