Players Ball artists - Be the promoter - What artists would you pick? Pick 3

Sponsor support will determine the artist. But I want to see what you guys like.

Nikki Minaj
Fat Joe
Busta Rhymes
Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Naughty By Nature
Slick Rick
Doug E Fresh
Rick Ross
Digital Underground
Paul Wall
Slim Thugg
Too Short
Three 6 Mafia
Warren G
Xzibit
Vanilla Ice (he wouldn't be the only artist, more for fun then anything)
Gucci Mane
Midnight Star
Morris Day and the Time
Mix Master Mike of Beastie Boys
Dave Navarro with DJ Skribble
Travis Barker with DJ
Chamillionaire
Flo Rider
Kurtis Blow
Flavor Flav
Big Boi of Outkast
Akon
Trey Songz
Jason Derulo

These are some options, I can probably pick 2 or 3 of them in the same night for most mentioned.

So you be the promoter, pick 3 of who you'd like to see and post.

Thanks again to BuiltToConvert as the first sponsor on board!

Feel free to add to this list.

Musicians are welcome, just not as realistic.

All band members flying out for an "off tour date".

2MuchMark 10-07-2010 01:25 PM

It would be nice to see anything but hip-hop. To be really honest D, I always found the players ball to be boring. It looks like a big party for everyone on stage, but not for the people watching the show. Of course it also didn't help that the people I had talked to hadn't heard of the artists you had at previous shows, and the fact that not everyone is into rap and hip hop. Furthermore, sorry to say this but alot of what makes hip-hop sound good is all done in the studio, and completely non existant when it comes to the live show. The last players ball I was at in Vegas 2 years ago (I think) sounded like crap.

Sorry.... don't hate me.

Anyway,

That being said I think that the trade show audience might get a kick out of the following artists from your list, for the following reasons:

De La Soul
They've been around for ever, and make REAL music. Pretty deep too.

Digital Underground
You're kidding, right?

Warren G
Wasn't he the one at Vegas a couple of years ago? Please don't.

Xzibit
Maybe! I like his sound.

Vanilla Ice
He's METAL now and actually sounds really good. I don't think trade show people would appreciate his show now but I would definately go.

Morris Day and the Time
I've never seen them in person but I bet their show is great. Morris Day was a charismatic hoot in the day and his music is kitch and fun. I'd go.

Mix Master Mike of Beastie Boys
YES!!!!!!!!!!! I would definately go. The guy is a genius.

Flo Rider
FUCK NO. What a no-talent jerkoff.

Flavor Flav
Meh...

If you really want my opinion, forget the SHOW and bring on a couple of DJ's, staring DJ Mike. This keeps everyone talking and dancing with each other, and different DJ's can change up the music to fit the crowd. This keeps everyone talking and dancing with each other to different styles of music without watching a show they may not appreciate and leaving early.

Busta Rhymes has always been on my suggestion list ... tons of hits and he always puts on a great show. I remember being back stage @ Street Scene here in SD a few years ago and looking out at the crowd of 1000's of people just going nuts - Busta had it going on!

De La Soul w/ Black Sheep if you could get them would be great too!

djswivle 10-07-2010 01:29 PM

easy picks.

1. Tribe Called Quest
2. De La Soul
3. and of course Nicki Minaj

Yeah I liked his new style when he last toured with Korn.

However, he's no longer metal, changing styles once again for his upcoming new album which releases Nov.19th called "WTF".

It's a mix of styles: hip-hop, acoustic, hardcore punk, country and techno.

Varius 10-07-2010 01:37 PM

I'll go with:

Busta Rhymes
Vanilla Ice
Insane Clown Posse

Ravage 10-07-2010 01:40 PM

Akon
Rick Ross
Busta

FG_Travis 10-07-2010 01:41 PM

Vanilla Ice for sure!

id kill to see dirt nasty

Elli 10-07-2010 01:48 PM

Dave Navarro with DJ Skribble
is the only one that I'd prefer to see. I agree with the DJ suggestion. Get some funky DJs in to show off their skills and keep the party going.

Yeah Cypress Hill was my favorite of all the Balls I've attended.

D-Money 10-07-2010 01:50 PM

Hey **********, thanks for the feedback. I take all feedback good and bad, it's the only way to improve.

I hear you on the music selection, rap/hip hop isn't for everyone. I've had other types of music over the years, but they get lost in the mix of the majority being rap.

Fishbone, Eek-A-Mouse, George Clinton with P-Funk, half Pint with Dubcat, Long Beach Dub Allstars (formerly Sublime), Third World, DJ Sasha and many others I can't think of off the top of my head.

I'm glad you were at least able to pick a few from the list you'd like to see, you picked some good ones.

I'm open to more suggestions not mentioned on the list. My list was to show the realistic ones I can probably get. I didn't put Snoop, Korn, Jay-Z and other big names because they're way too much money.

I do appreciate your feedback though, so thanks for chipping in!

Dave Navarro with DJ Skribble
Travis Barker with DJ

Adam X 10-07-2010 03:00 PM

somethin about Too Short's vibe that cranks up the sex at the PB... he's always got my vote.

punker barbie 10-07-2010 03:24 PM

just noticed Gucci Mane..... he would be good too.

WebairGerard 10-07-2010 03:36 PM

Tribe Called Quest

Altwebdesign 10-07-2010 03:38 PM

akon and derulo thatd be great vanilla ice for fun!

epitome 10-07-2010 03:39 PM

Nikki Minaj is peaking now. I'm surprised she isn't too expensive.

Tasty1 10-07-2010 03:45 PM

I even now 1 song of some of the artist. De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Vanilla Ice are well known and would be nice to see them.

I am more in to Springsteen, reggae Third World is great, Bill Lovelady, Pato Banton, UB40

Forget dancing, the only girls that where dancing last time where on stage.....topless :)

Renzo 10-07-2010 03:53 PM

Hey Darren,

my pick is

1. Busta Rhymes
2. Travis Barker with DJ
3. De la Soul

Some good DJ around would be cool, too.
Looking forward to partying with you!

"the tall guy"
Renzo

D-Money 10-07-2010 04:03 PM

Gucci Mane would be hip to get. I'm sure he'll be super huge and I'll kick myself later if I didn't get him while I could.

Nikki Minaj is on the high side in price, probably the highest of the artists mentioned on the list. My thinking is, if we have good sponsor support we can do it. But she was much lower in price then I would have thought. If we go bigger budget, I'll snag her up for sure.

webair 10-07-2010 05:11 PM

Busta Rhymes baby!

OMG Jim 10-07-2010 09:51 PM

Mix Master Mike of Beastie Boys & Busta Rhymes :pimp

_

munki 10-07-2010 09:56 PM

Navarro, Barker, (write-in) Cypress Hill
