You are aware that threads like these can actually damage one's business? It's pretty irresponsible to post a thread such as this without even an iota of evidence.

I doubt it's true. I doubt it very much. Even if i did suspect it was true, i'd have looked for something to back up the rumour before i made a post like this.

What happened with their 10G Networks? hahahahaha:1orglaugh

Easy there... he was just asking...

and LikeWhoa people know this board... they can easily defend themselves if its false...

btw... I dont think he was the one starting that rumour!!

Due 01-07-2003 11:40 AM

I doubt they are broke since they just invested a lot of money in their network and if I was about to go broke I probably wouldn't invest $XXXK or whatever in building up a big network.

Huh? I was simply saying that threads like this, whether there is any truth to them or not, can damage one's business. The very question has already got Dyna thinking about moving. Sure, he probably won't once this pans out, but damn, that's not good for business.

I'm sure they can. I was just voicing my opinion.

I think that's fairly obvious. I never implied that he had started it.

cosis 01-07-2003 11:42 AM

it doesn't take much for a internet company to go broke

Sly_RJ 01-07-2003 11:46 AM

Didn't boneprone want everyone to meet him at the LW booth?

In my experience, expansion is not a sign of a company's viability. An influx of new money is often a bail out from investors who have a ton to lose if their investment goes belly-up. So they feed a hungry alligator ***

Ever see a real estate development just underway say something like, Phase II now launching?" The old joke in that industry is what they're reallly saying is, "we're headed to bankruptcy if ya'll don't get in here and buy a house!"

*** I am speaking in general terms as I know NOTHING about Like Whoa or thier company other than their website looks cool :thumbsup

Maybe LikeWhoa should respond then. If their shitty customer service is a reflection of the quality of the product they are selling, I would get the fuck away from them fast.

All it would take is one post from them. Just one. And they owe that to their customers who are reading these posts wondering if their sites will be up tomorrow, next week, next month. Why would anyone give a company like that their hard earned money?
Hosting companies are dime a dozen....Just because a few fudgepackers say they are the best don't mean it is true. Because it is obvious they suck.

I said I would have to move if it was true:winkwink:

But I have read in several threads too that there is a bar on
the spot were the Likewhoa booth was supposed to be.

I wondered if this was true.....and Iīm sure Mike wondered the
same.

I spoke with Stan (CEO) of likewhoa this morning....

The like whoa stand wasn't finished in time...
from my understanding, they had big plans for it, but whoever was making it for them couldn't get it 100% finished in time...

My business thinking is, if you can't display something 100% don't display it at all...

So rather having a stand that was 75% the way they wanted it to be, the decided not to have it...

Something I completely understand

The claims of Like Whoa going out of business are False
The claims of Like Whoa bouncing a check are False
Haters wanting to give like whoa a bad rep in the business by hyping up stories is TRUE

so there you have it....

This thread has been up for an hour. One hour. They will respond to this thread, no doubt about it. But it's only been one hour.

And just so you know, i'm not a Like Whoa client.

Bobby Vicious 01-07-2003 12:08 PM

The like whoa stand at the Diplomat Summer Expo was kind of shabby and incomplete, that was in August. I don't know, two expos in a row with shabby booths makes you wonder.

Mutt 01-07-2003 12:08 PM

some guy named salsbury posted this in another thread about the LikeWhoa rumor where they had a booth booked for Internext but mysteriously there is a bar where the booth should be.

Ihttp://bfb.bogleg.org/~jwhyne/whoabar.jpg

X37375787 01-07-2003 12:09 PM

Truth is that LikeWhoa is anything but broke. The booth at Internext is not there because the manufacturer didn't deliver on time.

:2 cents:

Hilarious that you would question a hosting company's finances and/or ability to provide hosting based on the appearance of their booth.

go back to page 4 on GFY and you'll see another thread about the same thing. Nobody from LW responded to it. Not that they have to. Nobody but they and AVN know what happened to their booth plans.

EscortBiz 01-07-2003 12:12 PM

just go with Oxeo they are local to me

candyflip 01-07-2003 12:16 PM

My father is partner in a fairly large trade show exhibit company. They build this sort of stuff, and believe me...a booth just doesn't get finished on time. If done properly, these projects are planned months, even years in advance. If something wasn't finished in time for the show...it would be something that would not be that big of a deal that you couldn't go on.

Now if the exhibit wasn't delivered because of bills not being paid...that's another story. I find this to be an easy problem to pawn off on someone else.

If you just used a shitty exhibit house, please contact me and I'll get you set up for next year.

And you think their customer service is acceptable? Do you think the fact their network was down for hours a few weeks ago, and their failure to respond immediately is acceptable? The fact that it has already been *more* then one hour for them to respond to this is complete bullshit. A company that cares about their reputation, and more importantly their customers would have been on this post, or any other, like flies on shit. Thier failure to respond in a timely manner (if at all) tells me they simply don't give a shit. Or they don't have the balls to answer. Or, they are going tits up.

On one hand, I feel sorry for any customer of theirs who have had downtime, or read that they are going broke, and they are sitting their wondering when their sites are gonna go down because of their mickey mouse networking skills. That is bullshit, and a productive webmaster should not have to worry about his host day in and day out.

On the other hand after the first, yes the *FIRST* outage I would have been gone. There is something called redundancy, which is why I have seen some hosting companies offer 100% uptime guarantee. People who stay with LikeWhoa are shooting themselves in the foot and deserve what they get.

Pornwolf 01-07-2003 12:17 PM

These comments are the kind usually made be kids that don't understand business or rival businesses. A booth doesn't prove a company does or doesn't have money. Some nice booths are owned by companies living month to month off of signups but you'd never know it by looking at the booth. The only true way to tell if a company is in trouble is by the service over a few months. If it is going down you will be able to tell.

Also, if there's a picture of a dead cat on the expo booth you might see a problem in the future.

salsbury 01-07-2003 12:20 PM

heh, well, i wouldn't expect a response during a convention.. they're busy. plus, why respond to everything? and, if they told you "no, we're OK", would you just say "OK, i believe you 100%?" probably not. it's pretty safe to ignore these sorts of threads. i probably would if i still owned a hosting company. (then again, i'd probably also come up with something new to announce in the near future, so the next thread about my company is positive. ;))

Damn straight.

I'm interested in what happened though. People were hyping this booth just like they were hyping Adult Centro. What ever happened to that? Was it ever released?

If a company can't do what they say they'll do, then... umm... you get my drift.

Also, the "it wasn't delivered on time" routine is a little fishy. If they contracted a professional company to build the booth, it would be done. Maybe they dealt with a shitty company?

I don't care either way, it just gets old watching companies boast and brag about this and that, all to fall short.

Good point there. A while back I was gonna push his sites, WAS.
Now I would never do so, just because of all the dickhead remarks he posts here, oh yea and one time it was directly pointed at me.
