I'm not in Cali, and I don't even pretend to know how any of this works, so I am basically just talking out of my ass, but...

If the growers were paid $50 p/ounce by the retailers, and then the retailers marked it up to $100 p/ounce, and then the state added an additional $200 an ounce in taxes, the cost would be $300. I think most people would happily pay $300 p/ounce for legal weed.

This would still allow the growers and sellers to do well, while making the state a FORTUNE in new taxes!

BTW, here in the northeast good weed actually costs between $400 and $600 and ounce. For $300 you can get low end junk at best....

But, say one is legally allowed to setup a HUGE "warehouse" operation in the middle of the desert (like Palmdale or Lancaster), with see-through roofing to make use of natural light, plus digital indoor gear to supplement for year-round indoor hydro growth, powered by "green" wind turbines, solar, etc. ... one could produce 10,000's of pounds annually at extremely little cost.

They grow cannabis (hemp) for rope and I doubt they charge $38 per ounce for rope. The manufacturing cost with legal cannabis production is extremely low. My guess would be below $10 per pound from farm. Current tobacco prices from farms are $2.50-$3 per pound in the US, in Africa you can get it below $1 per kg.

In California if a proposition gets at least 50% of the public's vote it doesn't need the governor's signature. (Some propositions require 2/3rd's vote, but again the governor cannot prevent the law from going into effect.)

$50 an oz tax! wow. that report makes some big assumptions and seems somewhat biased toward anti-weed/drugs.

Any price under $400/oz is a great deal, especially for that name brand shit. Damn I wish I lived in Cali.
