I have a friend who does. Ft. Mac actually.

MattB 01-02-2003 05:55 PM

Edmonton is alright. Been there a bunch of times. The mall kicks ass, but the nightlife is better in Calgary.

PersianKitty 01-02-2003 05:58 PM

Been there a couple of times several years ago. Had an LD relationship with someone there. Erika from EdmontonDreams.com is up there. She posts here from time to time.

mastamindz 01-02-2003 06:01 PM

Thats where Im at right now :thumbsup
Its so fuckin gay here

hershie 01-02-2003 06:03 PM

he drive from Jasper is amazing. I saw more wildlife east of Jasper then on the Icefields Parkway or elsewhere in and around the Rockies.

I also read that the economy there was the strongest relative to any other city in Canada last year.

heh, deadmonton sucks pretty bad too. i'm only here due to some business issues - i was living in Banff for the past 2 years prior to last May. Going from Banff to Edmonton - not fun.

Tell me 'bout it
I just moved from Victoria

WiredGuy 01-02-2003 06:11 PM

I visited Ft MacMurray about 2 years ago, a friend I know worked there. It's cold and boring as hell. I wouldn't go back. Move out now!

nice. Victoria is sweet.

for me, a place like Banff is perfect. 3 Mountains to ride, tons of stuff going on, clean air to breath, and you can walk to *everything*. Mountains kick ass.

Edmonton's just a big, dirty, boring city. lol.

UncleJimmy 01-02-2003 06:23 PM

TheDoc is good people from way back...

yes that's him, but I don't know where he's located now for sure

.... I love Canada, tried talkin the woman into moving to Vancouver, cuz I love it there, but no go, she's a damned native and if it drops below 80F she's freezin :/

TheDoc 01-02-2003 06:24 PM

Edmonton, ahhh memories... Let's see.. Cold, and it was... oh ya Cold... And hmmm.. fuggin COLD!!

Spent 2 years in Canada (Same as saying spent 2 years in jail) :)

I can only think of a few free site webmasters, 1 live vidoe cam broker guy, couple of quite content people, and Erika from EdmontonDreams.

Edmonton overall, bad clubs, nice people, good mixture of hot ladies, colder than a mother ......, real real low cost of living for a bigger city, kick ass Internet (4mb line in your house for $150 Canadian) and great weed...

Finally got tired of the weather and moved to Vegas, where today.. It's cold!

PersianKitty 01-02-2003 06:25 PM

Doc..

You forgot to mention how COLD it is there. ;)

UncleJimmy 01-02-2003 06:27 PM

Never so cold that Ig & Lou couldn't warm someone up ;)

hehe that's what I was looking for :)

LadyMischief 01-02-2003 06:37 PM

I was born and raised in Calgary, so I guess I'm another Albertan at least.. I've never been a huge fan of Edmonton except for West Ed.. I do love the mountains though..I took a ton of pics of Banff and Jasper, they're on my mainstream site...

Enjoy!

:thumbsup

quiet 01-02-2003 07:29 PM

how the the hell did a topic about edmonton get over 20 replies?

where abouts? i live on Sask drive. (near the university).

hershie 01-02-2003 07:40 PM

for anyone reading this thread who have never been through the Canadian Rockies - do yourself a favor and visit. Its nott hat far a drive from Edmonton or Calgary and will blow your mind. It makes for a great vacation and a terrific alternative to a beach all inclusive in Mexico... Fly into Calgary, rent a car and take 10 days and drive through the Rockies out to Vancouver and drop off the car.

I can't believe all the people I talk to who never heard of Banff/Jasper and surroundings. I just had friends visit a few months back who are from Britain and are on a year long around the world trip and they flew into San Francisco and came up to Vancouver for a visit and were to spend 2 more months driving around North America and didn't know Banff... was a worthwhile drive.

I've been thinking of moving from Toronto to somewhere up there, how much does a decent house with 3-4 bedrooms and a bit of land go for somewhere near Banff quiet?

hmm, Banff itself is both expensive, and difficult to move into. Since it is a national park, you need a 'reason to reside'. definitely possible to get around though ;)

i had a 3 bedroom 3 level condo with attached garage up there. about 450K.

a cheaper (but still not that cheap) option would be to move to Canmore. It's about 10 minute drive from Banff (just outside of Banff Park) and the pricing/cost of living/etc is much less.

if you want to buy, check this link for places in the camore area: http://www.mls.ca/mls/listing.asp?gt...&propCount=203

Sappy 01-02-2003 07:59 PM

I'm in Edmonton. Goin' to the U of A.

mech 01-02-2003 08:03 PM

Edmonton isn?t that bad or cold but my opinion is bound to be skewed considering I've lived here all my life.
