Arizona

what do you think will she sign the bill? at 1 30 pm we will find out. i think she should sign it and we'll work out the kinks. I saw yesterday they had mexican flags wtf.

kristin 04-23-2010 12:10 PM

This has the state in an uproar.

I think she's gonna do nothing which thus makes the bill good to go.

It's gonna get crazy down here ... especially the closer to the border you get. We are about 30-45 minutes from the Nogales border in Tucson.

Nikki_Licks 04-23-2010 12:17 PM

I think she will sign the bill. One thing I don't get is, I thought it was already illegal to be in the states if you entered illegally? Personally, I hope she signs it :thumbsup

On another note, you have to love the signs some of these people are carrying..."We Have Rights".
If you aren't a US citizen and are here illegally, then you have no rights in the country :2 cents:

brassmonkey 04-23-2010 12:24 PM

im a obama supporter but after he said Arizona is fullish thats crossing the line :2 cents: that should have been at the top of his list securing the border. put up or shut up obama

hypedough 04-23-2010 12:26 PM

Question is, does Arizona or California have the bigger illegal immigrant problem? Live in LA, visited AZ quite a few times, it's above even.

If you break it down per capita, I bet Arizona does, but that's just my guess.

The point isn't illegals, the point is how the fuck can a cop tell the difference between a brown skinned American and a brown skinned Mexican.

Basically the bill allows cops to presume that all brown people are illegals until they prove differently.

Doesn't matter who they stop, they should ask for ID, if you don't produce it the burden is on you to prove who you are and that your allowed to be there. Americans are not just white and lots of immigrants are white as well. different parts of the country have different immigrant issues. Ask everyone you pull over if they are legal all they have to do is produce proper ID

hell we are the most laxed country in the world when it comes to immigration in every other country I have been to you don't show ID you go to jail. In many countries you carry your passport if your visiting so you can prove your there legally or have your visa stamp. In Jamaica they asked me to go get my passport to prove my identity same in Berlin Germany. Why cant we do this in the USA? If it helps solve a problem then it should be asked

behh I don't like Macayo's at all :( I love Cafe Poca Cosa, that's my favorite place here in Tucson. Also Blanco and El Charro Cafe I visit often as well. If you want authetic Sonoran Mexican food, then El Güero Canelo is the place to go imo. Yeah interesting to see what happens today, we were just at the border a few days ago, we had to cross into Mexico and drop off our permit that was about to expire. My family was freaking out since there is all this crazy stuff going on, but the place was completely dead.

Tom_PM 04-23-2010 01:23 PM

Becoming a US citizen needs to be incentivised.

brassmonkey 04-23-2010 01:31 PM

the bill will be signed!!

I believe the law targets all illegals. There are other nationalities that are here illegally and they are not all dark complected.

Where in the bill did it mention brown people?

I'd suggest to stop listening to fears of what might happen, and observe what does actually happen before judging anything.

You know a poll reported to have been recent from down there said something like half of legal latin immigrants supported the bill. Polls are polls, so cant put too much into it, but it sure wasn't 0, and no it wasn't 100.. but not EVERYone is going to riot or something scary.

Oh, and of COURSE mostly latino's will be carded! Thats not anything but geography.

brassmonkey 04-23-2010 01:45 PM

their still waving mexican flags time for them to go home.

This is the one Fed Issue I disagree with. It should only be a federal issue if you are handling the problem and certain states like Texas, CA, NM, and Arizona have to deal with this on levels the feds just don't seem to care about.

We had a day without a Mexican in California and it just cleared up the freeways. They'll never pull that shit again.

Plus now people WILL do those jobs they claimed Americans wouldn't do, without a doubt!

RP Fade 04-23-2010 02:30 PM

civil rights attorneys in AZ are going to have a field day with this..

BradM 04-23-2010 02:31 PM

As an immigrant I support this move.

there just mirroring a federal law already in place. There just are no feds in AZ enforcing it.

Aren't rights some thing a higher authority has to back up?

I see it as they are doing a job that employers are not willing to pay a fare wage to do.

Exactly and they should have to pay the normal or higher fare. I'll bet cleaning shit holes could get a lot more lucrative if asshole weren't here willing to do it for nothing.

Bill Maher doesn't like it cause he doesn't want to have to pay minimum wage to have his car parked.

im no attorney but this sounds unconstitutional on a number of levels and I think this may cause some conflicts of pre-emption when it comes to US state vs Federal law.

That was the problem though - too many Americans wouldn't take the job, they would have preferred to be on welfare. I think I know more white people taking advantage of the system in AZ than Mexicans... more because they can too.

And it's not minimum wage anymore either, people want ridiculous salaries and benefits ... hell we even see it in adult. Affiliate manager X wants $100k/year, doesn't want to generate sales to get it, just wants the title and the money. Welp, guess what? I'll hire the guy who will take $22k/year plus commission.

I see both sides and there isn't one side to blame. Americans brought a lot of this on ourselves and the gov't didn't think it would ever get this out of control.

I agree with you, it can be looked at as supply and demand.

The problem with America is it's a whorehouse that no one respects and people who are born here have to deal with. Civil Rights was a great gimmick just like manifest destiny to get people to come here and populate the country, but if you want those same freedoms now, I'd be eyeing Antartica! Or maybe The Moon.
