Those stats are nothing but guesses by somebody. For instance, they have absolutely NO way to know who has herpes. There is nobody with that exact number.

In fact I can't see any of those stats based in fact at all. It's just guessing.

I'd say those "statistics" originally were put out by someone who is anti-porn.

That statistic came from a white paper published several years ago. Nothing in the paper was original research or verified. They merely compiled statistics from various sources.

The claim that 12 to 17 year olds are the largest group of porn viewers was cited to a website operated by an affiliate pushing parental control software. This affiliate clearly was making up statistics to help push the software.

I recall being able to go right down the list of cited sources and each was questionable at best, yet members of the US congress and anti-porn crusaders have used the report in their arguments.

Years ago when the American Family Association started picking the adult industry, I joined their picket lines and picketed my own stores for two weeks before they found out who I was.

I had the opportunity to talk to these people and found that they were sincere in their beliefs; however, I also found that most has a tragedy in the family where somebody was raped, molested or sent to jail for a sex crime.

The common factor in this was that they just couldn't accept the fact that their family member (brother, father, uncle, ect.) was not a good person. They believed that the erotica made the person do the terrible things and, if there was no erotica, the act would not have occurred.

It was very sad seeing all these people in total denial that their family member was a bad person, child molester, rapist, ect. They were really unable to accept the truth.

Ironic, isn't it that they still can't accept the truth.

Millions of people enjoy erotica every day, are socially responsible and live fulfilled lives.
