The new board reminds me of how GFY used to be in its prime. Sure there will be assholes who sign up just for shits a giggles. But its looking way more business like than here and they don't support tube sites !

I feel business has picked up here and way less 'trash' has been taking place.

But true, the posters may not support tube sites.. but they have all pirated music, movies, software, lifted from a store, borrowed a cd from a friend... or made satire copyrighted youtube videos..

I don't see why it's any different.... unless it's because I own it, but that would be a double standard, two faced, I mean... really a little bitch.

Personally I don't have proof that anyone on the other board steal movies, images or music and I don't like to make assumptions. What I did see with my own eyes is GFY openly supporting tubes and tube site ( illegal tubes ) which directly and negatively impact my business. Im against ? theft no matter how small as i make my living from Photography..

Again only thing I have done is the parody, which is 100% legal
Oh and I may have had someone let me borrow a book, CD er wait no, DVD, or tape before. I however never made a copy, I never distributed it to other people, and again that also is also 100% legal. It was never duplicated, the original purchased copy just changed hands.

Many of them have admitted it on gfy but don't feel it's the same thing or said, they no longer do it, excuses either way.

Parody again is legal, follow along. Even if it uses copyrighted material. Though my own morals would make me pay the owner some royalty if I made it. Otherwise I would be guilty by just listening to some weird al cd that I paid for.

Never download any music except from itunes, once from zoom, and some actual classical stuff (way out of copyright).
Software downloaded would only be trials, freeware, or shareware and if I use it over I typical send in a donation.
Did download a copy of two shows I missed due to cable problems. Again you may say I am splitting hairs but I did pay to view these already and was deprived of my right to do so.

Have I committed crimes, yup. Just have not done any that relate to what we are talking about.

I really only post here on GFY... and one other place. Truly, if I was going to post any other place or show my support, it would be on the other board I use.

Parody is only legal if you made something new, like weird al, is original work. It always has to be an original creation or it's copyright infringement.

The Supreme Court of the United States stated that parody "is the use of some elements of a prior author's composition to create a new one that, at least in part, comments on that author's works."

When the people on that board actually unite and take real action against content piracy, instead of simply paying lip service to the issue, then I might sign up.

I attended one of the first anti-piracy (content theft) conferences a few years ago, convened by a1r3k. DWB and I were among the most outspoken on the issue. I still respect both of them as righteous dudes with good ideas and principles.

I was disappointed when the big players in the industry stood idle on the sidelines. I was even more disappointed when they did little to nothing to initiate action on behalf of the industry, and was somewhat shocked when many of them were co-opted and even developed their own tube sites based upon stolen content.

Nothing shocks me much anymore.

I see big programs betting the farm that short term market share/traffic is more important than actual profits (ask Adult Friend Finder how their IPO is going, and you'll see the disaster in store for most of those programs betting their money on that), and no existing coherent industry strategy for turning the tide against content thieves.

If the big players in the industry can't see that their current course is imploding upon them (and by extension, us all), then they are truly oblivious to what is going on.

As an independent, I have always been more of a small ball player...

All I can advise during these bleak times is to stay the course, stick to your core business and principles, get those base hits, and score runs (sells), according to your own strategy.

The time is past due for the big hitters to step up to the plate. If they take down even a few of the thieves, I believe the tide could still be turned to the advantage of honest programs and the adult industry as a whole.

They can either continue to do nothing and slowly bleed to death, or be co-opted, and ultimately discover that the business model underlying the loss-leader style of most current piracy sites is unsustainable, or they can spearhead a concerted drive by the companies that play by the rules, and are unafraid of competition on a level playing field, and help bring the industry back from the precipice.

I hope that they will make the correct decision...
