People have no fucking respect for being ontime. !!

Its sickening. You make an appointment for 11am or a call time for 1pm and no matter what ..they are 15,20,30 minutes late. People wonder why thier buisness sucks , or they are are not working... THERE IT IS. I had appointment 2 days in a row for computer work, 40 minutes later the asswipe still isnt here.

note to people... 11AM MEANS 11AM !!!

_Richard_ 09-02-2009 11:11 AM

irritates me too

Scott McD 09-02-2009 11:11 AM

Yeah, i don't get why people will always be late by 10mins or so.

If you gave them 3hrs notice, they'll be 10mins late.
If you gave them 8hrs notice, they'd still be 10mins late.

Doesn't make sense...

JustDaveXxx 09-02-2009 11:11 AM

Sorry, i will try harder next time sir.lol

11am means 10:55 am usually in my case.
I can relate to your frustration though, there's not many things that piss me off more than people who are late.

mmcfadden 09-02-2009 11:17 AM

fashionably late is what some call it. some can pull it off, others can't.

TheAmericanCannibal 09-02-2009 11:17 AM

One of my pet peeves as well Joe.
I thought one day I would get over California flakiness but after 13 yrs it's still the same old tardy shit.

This is because you and I are from back east- where when people say they will call you back means they will call you back in 5 mins or that hour...not later in the week or three weeks later

:disgust

If I make a lunch appointment for noon I already know with most people, I wont see them until 12:30

Exactly , its not like its 6am appointment where oversleeping can be an excuse. Most of the time we talking... MID FUCKING DAY. Doesnt matter what time is called they will be late.. and that is my biggest peeve ever. Obviously there are circumstances.. SOMETIMES.

Just venting here.

Nikki_Licks 09-02-2009 11:21 AM

I am always 15 to 20 minutes early for any appointment and it really chaps my ass when people could give a shit less about being on time.

You should send the guy away and hire a new person :2 cents:

just had this happen to me. a meeting was at 8:30am and I was supposed to meet up with a friend for coffee around 9ish. they called me at 8:45 and said they are running late, and need to push it until 9:30.

now i had to miss meeting up with a friend and wait for these clowns to call at 9:30... when they finally did, they talked in circles for an hour

service techs are the worst... they give you a 5-hour window then don't even show up or call if they're going to miss it

Being insanely early is as bad as being late. Showing up 20 mins early is just as rude as showing up 20 mins late.

I have a rule with contractors, if you give me a window that's all you get. I made an appointment for a guy to look at my pool and he asked for a 2 hour window - 4p to 6P. So at 6:01 I was in my truck leaving the house, at 6:15 he calls and asks where I am. My answer?

"On my way to hire another pool contractor, one with a watch."

NaughtyRob 09-02-2009 11:51 AM

I fucking HATE that shit. I am always early and hate when people don't respect my time. My time is more valuable than anything.

The 20 minute rule has always worked well for me and I will stick with that :2 cents:

Actually, I think your statement is incorrect. Showing up early, if anything, shows you are responsible and you take your potential clients time and the appointment seriously.
If an individual individual shows up late it usually leads to more BS problems in the future, whether it is one simple job or several jobs.... The client does not want to hear any excuses.

Be on time, if not early :winkwink:

Sly 09-02-2009 11:56 AM

I agree. I try my absolute hardest to be 10 minutes early on just about everything.

I don't hate myself for being too early, I hate the 'extra waiting', as the other guy is usually 10 minutes late. So 5 extra minutes of waiting. :1orglaugh

That's fine but if I schedule an appt. with you at noon it means I have shit to do until noon. It doesn't mean I'm sitting around all day waiting just for you. If someone pulls that shit with me, I tell them to go drive around the block for 20 minutes and show up on time.

I guess I would be leaving and not returning under the circumstances you mentioned. If you run a reputable business, then your appointment can wait in the lobby....no big deal. But if you work from your home, I guess I can see you taking the stance you do as you have no place for anyone to just wait.

In the end, my 20 minute rule works and my clients are always happy. I have never been late to any meetings :winkwink:

ilbb 09-02-2009 12:26 PM

I don't like it too

Jade509 09-02-2009 12:40 PM

Spunky 09-02-2009 01:00 PM

gecko 09-02-2009 11:54 PM

I feel your frustration

Jon Oso 09-03-2009 12:07 AM

If I'm going somewhere I know is ready for me 20 minutes early or I can wait around without being in the way for 20 minutes I show up early.

Otherwise I get there 5-10 minutes early.

When I make an appointment with someone (models, service people, whatever) I'm usually not ready until right at that time because I procrastinate.

Iron Fist 09-03-2009 12:11 AM

It's all part of the "Fight the Power" attitude these kids have these days..

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 09-03-2009 12:15 AM

That's why I never make appointments before the crack of noon... :thumbsup :2 cents:

And that's why, even when (or expecting that many people will be late) I always plan or find something productive to do in the meantime - I mean it's better than:

WetandPuffy 09-03-2009 01:22 AM

Yeah that annoys me to. I cant understand it. I bet people wouldnt be late if they where charged for being late :)

AaliyahLove 09-03-2009 01:29 AM

I never encountered this kinda behavior like this until I moved to LA. Seems to be the norm to be flakey out here. I don't get it myself

Phallus Fondue 09-03-2009 01:54 AM

hate when people are late. actually will pass them over for a jpb because of it unless they have a serious issue that made them so.
i personally will show up 15 minutes early but will respect the person and not 100% arrive until 5 minutes before. i will also make all phone caoos 1 minutw before it is due.
if i am ever late i will show up the next day that much more earlier to show them i am indeed sorry for my actions.

PersianKitty 09-03-2009 02:10 AM

People being late has always been a big pet peeve for me. I respect peoples' time. I'm almost always early for appointments or sitting by the phone if I've set up a call, etc.

When someone "Puts me on their time" It lets me know they feel their time is more important than mine.
